Spurs Ladies kicked off a vital Greater
London Ladies League Premier Division campaign with a big scare. Spurs
were 2-0 down before finding their feet and four goals against Barnet
Copthall.
With every point vital in the race for
the championship, it is a scenario they will not want to repeat too
often. Barnet Copthall cashed in on defensive errors to take a
commanding 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes at the Frederick Knight Sports
Ground.
Thankfully Spurs were handed a way back
in just before the break when Michelle Oliver's surging run was brought
to an abrupt halt in the penalty area. With regular penalty taker
Siw Wiggen away it was left to Lucy Pinnock to bury the spot
kick.
Jenna Schillachi's arrival in the second
half seemed to bring Spurs to life. Last week's FA Cup star forced the
visitors into an own goal to level the scores at 2-2, before setting up
Rebecca Lewis to control and shoot home for an excellent third goal.
Kelly Mawston capped the recovery after fine work from Gill Blackmore
for the fourth.
Spokeswoman Kay Lovelock commented:
"We couldn't believe the start we made, but the second half was
one-way traffic. I don't think they had a shot on goal."
All four Spurs sides are in action on
Sunday. The first team travel to Billericay in GLLL Premier Division
(2pm) and the reserves face Enfield Reserves at home in GLLL Reserve
Division One (2pm). In the Herts Girls League the Under-13s travel to
Enfield and Under-15s play host to Hoddesdon Owls.

Lucy Pinnock put QPR to the sword as Spurs
Ladies hit top spot in the GLLL Premier Division. She scored four goals
and created the first as Spurs enjoyed a purple spell after the break to
put the issue beyond doubt.
That was far from the case in the first
half. Early pressure finally told when Pinnock's corner was headed
into her own goal by a defender, but QPR hit straight back for 1-1 with
another goal from a corner. Pinnock restored the lead from an
acute angle after 27 minutes, but, with six minutes of the half left,
QPR levelled after breaking the offside trap.
Spurs went into overdrive in the second
half. With 52 minutes on the clock, Jenna Schillaci beat four
players before crossing for skipper Jackie Fearon to slot home for
3-2. Two minutes later, Pinnock flicked home Katy D'Agostino's
free-kick and with 76 minutes gone the same player completed her
hat-trick with a curler from the edge of the area. Pinnock was
there again for her fourth goal after fine work from Fearon before QPR
grabbed a late consolation.
Spurs Ladies cruised into the second round
of the sport's most prestigious trophy after winning this potentially
tricky derby. Ironically the tie was played at White Hart Lane -
no, not the Premiership Mecca, but Haringey Borough's Coles Park just
down the road.
It took only two minutes for Spurs to
take the lead, when Latoyah Johnson's shot was blocked on the line and
Rebecca Lewis followed up to score. But they were in for a shock
when the home side levelled after 10 minutes. Goalkeeper Helen
Wilson was judged to have fouled a Borough in the penalty area and the
spot kick was buried for 1-1.
Spurs then stamped their authority on
proceedings with four goals before half-time. Jenna Schillaci
restored the lead with a low shot after 19 minutes and it was 3-1 after
37 minutes, when Johnson beat the offside trap to convert Linda
Wiltsher's cross. It was soon 4-1 when Wiltsher scored from close
range and Lewis put the issue beyond doubt with Spurs' fifth just before
the break after good work from Johnson and Michelle Oliver.
Spurs refused to take their foot off the
pedal though and it was soon 6-1 as Lewis slid in for her hat-trick
after Johnson's shot struck a post. The home keeper then worked
overtime to deny a tidal wave of chances before Lewis grabbed her fourth
goal for a final 7-1 scoreline. The ladies now travel to South East
Regional League outfit Gillingham in the second round of the
competition.
Spurs were one down in 26 minutes when an
own goal rocked them, but Jackie Fearon ran onto a through ball to
equalise eleven minutes later. in the remaining eight minutes of
the half, Spurs allowed the home side to score three times to take a 4-1
half-time lead.
It was always going to be a struggle
after that and with flu victim Katy D'Agostino being replaced by Katie
Jones at the interval, Spurs fought to get back into the match. A
quick goal after the restart made it 5-1 and when Lewis beat the keeper
in a one-on-one situation to pull one back in the 73rd minute, it did
give Spurs a little hope.
Lucy Pinnock came on, but could not stop
Gillingham running in a sixth goal before the final whistle.

Having to play a double header on a heavy
pitch, Spurs took the lead from the penalty spot. Gill Blackmore's
shot was handled on the goal-line and Siw Wiggen converted the
spot-kick, which gave Tottenham a half-time lead.
After the interval, Jackie Fearon hit the
post and a second penalty was awarded when Michelle Oliver was brought
down, but this time Wiggen blasted over the crossbar. However, the
lead was retained until the end for a valuable three points.

With confidence from the first match of this
double header, Spurs were rocked by a Palace goal after just 47 seconds,
when the home side broke away to score. On 13 minutes, Jackie Fearon latched onto Marie Cordes' through ball to smash home an
equaliser and then four minutes later, Cordes was first to the rebound
after Fearon's shot was blocked and Mo drilled Spurs into the lead.
In the second half, palace came closest
to scoring but goalkeeper Tina Hills pulled off a great save to thwart
them and once again the team held out to make it eight league wins out
of eight.

Tottenham created a number of good chances
in the first half, with Oliver, Blackmore, Cordes and Rebecca Lewis all
going close. However, the home side opened the scoring in the 31st
minute, with the ball being slipped under Tina Hills.
The Spurs side missed a number of chances
in the second half, but couldn't find an equaliser as West Ham managed
to hold on to the win.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies recorded their
biggest win of the season at home to Billericay Ladies.
Surprisingly it was only 2-1 at half-time
with Gill Blackmore and Jenna Schillaci giving Spurs the early
advantage.
A second half blitz of eight goals
stunned the visitors. Michelle Oliver scored four of them and Mo
Cordes got her first Tottenham hat-trick, while Schillaci notched her
second to make it double figures.
Spurs Ladies enjoyed a 3-0 win over their
opponents while other sides at the top of the League dropped points.
It took just six minutes to open the
scoring through Michelle Oliver, who lobbed over the Shrimpers
keeper. Mo Cordes added a second in the 32nd minute, then just
before the break, Oliver wrapped up the points with her second and sixth
in two games.
Although there were plenty of chances
created in the second half, none could be converted, but the points were
already safely in the bag.

In the first match of this double header,
Colney raced into a two goal lead before half-time, although Mo Cordes
pulled a goal back immediately after the break, running onto a through
ball from Teresa Broderick to shoot past the visitors keeper.
Spurs should have taken the lead during
an almighty goalmouth scramble, which saw the ball cleared off the line
twice and hit the post, but it wasn't to be and Colney held on for the
points.

In the second match. it was Colney again who
went ahead, this time form a quickly taken corner, which caught Spurs
off guard. However, 11 minutes into the second half, Broderick
pounced on a rebound to score her first of the season and the side
almost snatched a late winner but Latoyah Johnson's effort was well saved
by the visiting goalie.

Another double header played to catch up on
deferred matches.
The first match saw Tottenham dominate
the early stages and Teresa Broderick, Gill Blackmore and Michelle
Oliver all had chances to score. Goalkeeper Tina Hills had to be
alert to prevent the visitors taking the lead in the second half with
two smart saves.
Spurs eventually took the lead for
minutes from time when Latoyah Johnson's mazy run ended with the ball
falling to the feet of Gill Blackmore, who rifled home the opener.
But a minute from time, Redbridge equalised with a fine 20 yard
free-kick, which eluded Hills' full length dive.

A second draw dented Tottenham Ladies bid
for promotion from the Greater London Premier Division.
Redbridge opened the scoring after just
15 minutes following hesitation in the Spurs defence, but five minutes
later Michelle Oliver netted from a Jenna Schillaci corner to level the
scores and that was the way the match ended.

An excellent fight-back from 0-2 down at
half-time gave the Ladies a morale boosting victory after the double
header disappointments.
The home side took full advantage of the
sloping pitch and stormed into a two goal lead by the interval.
However, three minutes into the second half, Tottenham defender Kelly
Herrett fed Michelle Oliver and she lobbed the home keeper from the edge
of the area to pull a goal back. A minute later, Handan Djoshkoun
levelled the scores by forcing the ball over the line after Oliver's
shot was blocked.
Oliver was on target again on the hour
mark, giving Spurs the lead with a dipping volley from a Schillaci
pass. The in form striker then completed a superb hat-trick seven
minutes later, latching onto Linda Wiltsher's pass before slotting past
the keeper again.
London were handed a lifeline when Ulrika
Hammarin gave away a penalty which was converted, but the victory was
confirmed 15 minutes from time when another Oliver effort was deflected
into the London Women's net by a defender.

Another hard fought draw means that the
promotion dream for the Ladies is over for another season.
Both sides had chances in the first half
and Spurs were unlucky not to take the lead when Mo Cordes' shot was
cleared off the line. Tottenham were caught out at the start of
the second half as Barnet took the lead, but on 62 minutes, Cordes was
brought down in the box and Siw Wiggen kept her cool to level from the
penalty spot.
In the time remaining, neither side could
find a winner to leave West Ham with the League title.
