While it appears Norwich's rise to the top spot had been based on good football, all the play today came from Spurs Ladies and they made light of a bobbly pitch to leapfrog them with two games in hand on the Canaries.

The Norwich goal was leading a charmed life well before Spurs took the lead.  Bianca Baptiste and Jess Cheeseman both had shots cleared off the line, while Baptiste struck the post and Cheeseman was denied by a good save from the keeper.  However, when Baptiste broke past the last defender she remained calm to slip the ball past the goalie and into the bottom left corner to make the score 1-0.  Spurs were linking up well and only one breakdown in communication saw the City striker get through on goal, but Robyn Downie made a good challenge and the shot that was on target was well beaten out by Ebony Cabey-Gooden.

While it might be normal for the Norfolk side to be able to play their own game, Tottenham imposed their game on the visitors and went 2-0 ahead in the second half, when substitute Rosi Webb slotted past the advancing keeper in a replay of the opening goal. 

Despite Spurs going down to ten players and Norwich having a lot of the possession, there was little to threaten their goal and their passing opened up the visitors defence, with Emma Kayser going close and Baptiste being denied by a last ditch tackle.  However, with Norwich legs tiring, a foul on the left side of their penalty area won Tottenham a late free-kick and from it, Kayser spotted the keeper off her line and curled the ball over her head to round off a satisfying 3-0 victory.

With just about five minutes on the clock, Jenna Schillaci's left wing cross picked out Sam Pituck's run and the midfielder headed past a static keeper into the net to give Spurs the lead.

It was Schillaci who was the provider for the second goal with another pinpoint cross being headed in across the keeper at the far post by Kirsten Thomson and when the Iron keeper and defender dithered over a ball three yards from goal, Bianca Baptiste raced in to nudge the ball through the goalie's legs to make it 3-0.

There was one more goal before half-time from a left wing corner, with the visitor's keeper half-punching the ball to the far post and a scramble ensued, leaving a loose ball a yard out that Ebony Heath reacted quickest to and knocked into the net before two defenders could get there.

As the rain had been pelting down, both sides were pleased to see it had eased off when the second half kicked off.  Spurs were keen to keep a clean sheet and Ebony Cabey-Gooden had one of her quieter games in the Tottenham goal, while the outfield players passed the ball confidently and rained shots in on the Town goal.  Thomson received the ball on the right wing and played a cross-field ball to Schillaci, who took a touch and rifled the ball past the keeper and into the net for 5-0.

That was the final score despite substitute Rosi Webb and Emma Kayser being denied by the keeper and Kayser going close - just missing wide of the post by inches - on two occasions, while Nichola Cable rattled the crossbar with a thumping drive from outside the area late on following a well-worked corner routine.

Spurs were dominant throughout the game and eased their way to a big win thanks to goals from Sam Pituck (4), Emma Kayser, Robyn Downie and a goal from substitute Bianca Baptiste to take them back to the top of the table after four games.
