| The evening of Friday 17th
May 2002 saw the presentation night for the players of the Tottenham
Hotspur Ladies FC, held at Frederick Knight's Sports ground.
The majority of the players and
officials, helpers and supporters of the club were in attendance to see
Guest of Honour, former Spurs striking legend Martin Chivers
(below) present the
awards for the season just ended. Chiv has been a big supporter of
the Ladies club and helped in the sale of autographed pictures of Teddy
Sheringham at the home match against Liverpool at the end of April.

Club Chairman, Glenn Weaver, was MC for
the evening and started proceedings by bringing up the managers and
coaches for a token of appreciation to be made to them for their efforts
over the last nine months. Then, without further ado, he was
announcing the long service awards with small slavers presented to those
who made their landmark appearances this season.

Lorraine Sparrow (above) and Samrawit
Bereket both
received awards to mark their 50th appearances, while similar trophies
were handed out to senior team captain Jackie Fearon, Handan Djoshkoun
(below) and Jenny Curtis to signify their completion of 100 games in a Spurs
shirt.

Three "Most Improved Player"
awards were announced with Under-12 central defender Rochelle Alexander
and Under-15 keeper Kelly Waite picking up the trophies in the Junior
section, while the "Lucy Pinnock Trophy" for the senior
section went to first team defender Kelly Herrett. The ladies had
made great strides in the season just finished and showed great
application in their play.
The next round of awards were voted for
by the players themselves and they elected their own players of the
season.
The Under-12s made a popular choice in
Jessica Richards (below), the free scoring forward.

The Under-14 vote went in favour of
skillful midfielder Gemma Coots.
There was a tie for the choice of
favourite team-mate in the Under-15s with midfielder Lucy Auguste and
captain and defender Katie Jackson (below) jointly taking the trophy.

The Reserves voted hard working midfielder
Kim McGhee as their favourite.
Another midfielder, Gill Blackmore
(below) took the prize from her team-mates in the Senior side.

The "Sue Sharples Memorial Award" for a
major contribution to the club, whether on or off the pitch, went to the
"My Eyes Have Seen The Glory" team for their coverage of the Ladies teams this season. We were
surprised and honoured to take the honour. We provide the coverage
because we
enjoy it and it has been great fun (despite some of the awful weather)
supporting the team and reporting on their exploits.
Finally, Glenn read out the
"Manager's Players of the Year". These were selected by
the managers and coaches of the relevant teams and the player chosen was
the one who had contributed most to the team throughout the season.
Striker Jessica Richards picked up her
second award of the night, as the managers concurred with her
team-mates.
In the Under-14s, winger/forward Sarah
Green won the appreciation of her manager and picked up the trophy for her age group.
Popular defender Dominique Clarke (below)
was the
manager's choice for the Under 15s.

In the Reserves, again, it was a double
for Kim McGhee (below), who managed to impress the coaches as much as her
colleagues.

Finally, the Seniors pick was Kelly
Herrett, who showed why she had picked up the most improved player, by
taking this award too.
It was a great night and was rounded of
with a disco and much discussion over who had won what.
Let's hope that next season will be even
more successful !! |
