Tottenham started the game against Long Lane
Reserves playing well and managed to get a goal ahead within eight
minutes of the start through Amy Bruce.
The team continued to apply pressure on
the home goal and a shot from Nadine Felix-Sandford was well saved by
the Long Lane keeper. After 25 minutes, Long Lane got a goal back
to make it 1-1and scored again four minutes later to go ahead.
Spurs started to show a bit of a
fight-back and Sarah Hocking scored in the 37th minute to make the score
2-2, but then just before half time Long Lane grabbed a goal to make it
3-2 at the break.
Spurs come out after the interval
determined to get back into the game and it was only two minutes into
the second half that Spurs produced some good play for Krystal Morrison
to stick the ball away to make it 3-3.
In the 78th minute one of our players
went down, but the referee continued play, leading to Long Lane going on
to score again to take the lead for a third time. However, when it
seemed this would be a loss for Tottenham, Beth Richards latched on to a
good pass to make the score 4-4 in the last few minutes.
Played away at Cheshunt; Fred Knights
pitch waterlogged.
Sue Sharples Memorial Trophy - Quarter
final
On a cold day, Spurs started off well and
finished even better to warm them up for a Merry Christmas.
Some good link up play between Athena
Yennaris and Rebecca Andrews, played in Meroulla Lazarou, who set up
Krystal Morrison to control the ball and lob it over the Enfield keeper
to put Tottenham 1-0 ahead.
As would be expected from a Cup-tie, some
strong tackles were put in by both sides, but the Spurs defence manage
to stop the Enfield attacks reaching their goal and when they did break
through, E’s fired a shot just over the bar.
Another good passing move from Tottenham
created the opportunity for Krystal to break through and get her second
goal with a clinical finish.
Enfield came out fighting and applied
pressure, but some good team defending prevented Enfield getting back
into the game.Morrison
almost sealed her hat-trick when she tried to latch onto a loose ball,
but the keeper bravely saved before she could reach it.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves showed
great bouncebackability to reverse last week's score-line in their
favour to score a big League win.
Spurs forced the pace from the start and a fourth minute goal-line
scramble saw the ball cleared off the goal-line. Krystal Morrison
had already gone close with a lob and a low drive before she coolly
slotted the ball home past the Carshalton keeper in the tenth minute to
open the scoring.
Krystal was in
sparkling form and hit a shot that fizzed past the keeper just four
minutes after her first. Strike partner Nadine Felix-Sandford was
after a piece of the action, but was just off target when she was put
through the middle. Morrison was keen to add to her total and was
unlucky with a neat lob that drifted just wide on the half hour and in
the next attack, the keeper dived at her feet to deny her shot.
However,
she was not to be denied a hat-trick, when, two minutes later, when she
was set up with a tap-in from five yards out, following a good run down
the left wing by Rebecca Andrews. Tottenham's fourth hit the net
within two minutes of this goal. Handan Djoshkoun hit a steepling
volley which the goalkeeper could not hold and the ball was blocked on
the line in the ensuing melee. It fell to Sarah Green, who was
about 25 yards out and her drilled shot ripped into the net.
After
the break, Carshalton re-organised and became more difficult to break
down, but Tottenham's pressure was relentless. A 54th minute
attack saw the visitors' defence stand firm as Nadine, Krystal and
Rebecca's shots were all saved, but it was breached on 57 minutes, with
Krystal's header setting up Nadine Felix-Sandford to shot low into the
net.
Handan was sewing up anything
that went in the air near the halfway line, even making strides out with
the ball to feed left winger Rebecca Andrews, who hit the pass goalwards
and the rising shot was saved by the Athletic keeper. With
twenty-five minutes of the half gone, Spurs took a 6-0 lead when a nice
passage of passing between Rebecca and Alice Oake on the left, saw a
cross to the far post, where Sarah Campbell struck a shot that beat the
goalie.
The keeper was busy and
saved well from Morrison, but from the resulting corner, Nadine's ball
in was met by Handan with a rasping shot that flew past the defenders in
the line to put her in seventh heaven in the 67th minute. And from
another corner in the next attack, Felix-Sandford almost added another
with a cheeky back-heel. The Spurs striker was also denied with
fifteen minutes remaining as Becky Andrews had a shot blocked on the
line and then Nadine was also thwarted. Sarah Campbell put in a
firm header that the keeper held before Carshalton broke away to hit a
shot across the face of substitute Becky William's goal.
The
final goal in this match, against sporting opponents, came with added
time being played. Another set-piece lead to the goal, as Campbell
struck again from a corner to round off an 8-0 win for the side, who
will be looking to take their good form on into next week's match.

A poor start in this local derby caught
Spurs cold and ultimately cost them the match, despite haveing the bulk
of the better chances in the same.
Two
quick goals in the first fifteen minutes left Tottenham chasing the
game, which they did when the returning Meroulla Lazarou forced the
Enfield keeper into action. The pressure yielded some reward when
a corner was swung in and Sarah Campbell connected with the ball to send
it into the back of the net.
As
half-time approached, the Tottenham side kept pushing forward and
although there was a scare at the Spurs end and Kat Stebbings was called
on to make a save just after the break, the traffic was mostly one way.
Beth
Richards made a great run on the left wing and was hauled down when she
entered the penalty area and the ref pointed to the spot for a
penalty. Sarah Green stepped up to take the penalty, which beat
the keeper but not the goalpost and the ball bounced out to safety.
This
did not deter Tottenham, who brought a save out of the Enfield goalie
from an Amy Bruce header and Sarah Green's shot was too hot to hold, but
the ball was hacked away as it ran loose.
Kelly
Cox came on to make her debut and her first touch set up Meroulla, but
her shot flew just wide.
It was
disappointing that the team did not make the most of the possession they
had, but it was a determined fight-back, although it ended in vain.

A tough encounter with Watford Youth saw
Spurs salvage a draw and earn a deserved point from this League match at
Frederick Knight's.
With a stroke of good fortune favouring
the visitors, Spurs had to recover from being a goal down in 10
minutes. A clearance from the Tottenham defence fell to a Watford
player 20 yards out and her speculative shot bounced into the net to
give the Hornets a lead in the game.
Spurs edged their way back into the game
and Sarah Campbell set up a good chance for fellow midfielder Sarah
Green, but her early shot missed by a couple of feet. Shortly
after, Kesha Heaven was released with a through ball that saw her
confront the keeper and her shot got past the goalie, but also beat the
post to slip wide of the mark.
Tottenham had to defend a corner and a
melee that ensued saw Watford have a golden opportunity to extend their
lead, but the shot from their forward, as the ball dropped, was hit wide
from three yards out. A free-kick awarded 30 yards out at the
other end was struck well by Kesha and the keeper managed to let the
ball go between her legs, but she was wide of the goal and a goal kick
was awarded.
Watford were passing the ball well in the
first half, but a change at half-time changed things to Tottenham's
advantage. Dom Clarke replaced the injured Campbell and a
reshuffle made Spurs a more solid unit. Early in the half, Heaven
hit another free kick from 25 yards out and brought a save from the
goalie, while Alice Oake and Nadine Felix-Sandford engineered a shooting
opportunity, but Nadine was unable to get sufficient power in her drive.
It was Spurs who were dominating the game
now and Alice's low ball across the face of the goal was just out of
Kesha's reach. Watford did break away and one of their forwards
hit a shot over the top from the left side of the area, but this was
almost the last serious threat on the Spurs goal, as Rosi Webb came on
for Cas Brown to add more potency to the Tottenham attack.
Dom Clarke played a good ball in to Kesha,
who was having a prominent role in the Spurs moves, and her lay back to
Geena Gordon was struck over the top. However, with 70 minutes on
the clock, Tottenham produced an equaliser resulting from a flowing
movement right across the pitch. The ball started off in the left
back position, moved along the half-way line and then down the right
wing to Rosi. Her early ball into the box saw Kesha nip in ahead
of the keeper at the near post and prod the ball into the net to make it
1-1.
With twenty minutes left, Spurs pressed
for the winner and Rosi struck a shot well, but it went too high, Heaven
had a neat turn and shot in the area half-blocked to take the pace off
the ball and Sarah Green struck a shot from 25 yards to bring the keeper
into action. The game ended with the ball being battled for in
midfield and the ref was called upon to book one of the Watford
defenders for what appeared to be dissent.
While the team struggled to find their
tempo in the first half, the significant improvement in the second half
was well worth the point and the result was perhaps a fair one at the
final whistle.

An icy day saw Spurs travel to play
Dagenham and Redbridge reserves, with some players missing and a chilly
wind to contend with.
Spurs got
into the game quickly and applied pressure on the Dagenham goal,
resulting in an early goal from Geena Gordon. Her run down the left
saw her hit a shot from just inside the penalty area that cleared the
keeper and dip into the net for the opener.
D&R
hit straight back with a corner that captain Mel Berry did well to
clear, but Spurs broke away and a shot was not held by the keeper, who
had to make a second save as Rosi Webb followed up on the loose
ball. Jenny Curtis was making good progress up the line out of
defence and provided Geena with a shooting opportunity.
However, following this, when play moved to the other end of the pitch, a lapse of concentration in the Spurs defence let Dagenham in
for an equaliser.
At the break,
Athena Yennaris had to be replaced by Di Gardiner because of injury and
shortly after the restart, Di nicked the ball away from a Daggers player
in the area, but the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty.
The spot-kick was taken, but was shot wide of the goal to leave the
scores still level.
Tottenham's
breaks from defence were causing problems for D&R and Faye Callaway
knocked a great cross in to Rosi, but her shot was well saved.
Meroulla Lazarou was dangerous all afternoon and a tackle on her from
behind saw the yellow card brought out for a Dagenham player.
The
pressure was still being put on by Spurs, but a strange incident when a
Dagenham player sat on the ball, then broke forward and shot past Kat
Stebbings to make it 2-1 to the home side.
Meroulla
got a caution shortly after and then as Tottenham moved forward once
more, Sarah Green hit a fine shot that bounced down off the bar and
while all those near the incident were convinced it had crossed the
line, the goal was not awarded. Old Trafford all over again
!! However, with more good work from midfield and the ball being
worked out to Faye, her pass picked out Rosi. Her cross just
eluded Meroulla's run into the area and that was the last chance before
the final whistle brought the match to an end.
It was a spirited performance in wintry
conditions and without the rub of the green, it was a disappointing
result in the end.

On a very bumpy pitch Spurs started well,
but the first 15 minutes of the game were very scrappy with both teams
failing to control the ball to any great degree. The home team's
goalkeeper was much the busier, saving shots from Gill Blackmore and
watching as a fierce Samrawit Bereket shot hit the crossbar.
Carshalton too had an opportunity midway through the half when a shot
hit the crossbar of the Spurs goal. At the other end there was a
penalty shout following Rosi Webb being bundled over in the box, but the
ref waved for play to continue.
An early substitution of Mary Griffith for Dom Clarke through injury did
not unsettle Spurs and with play in the Carshalton half, birthday girl
(21st) Kelly Herrett floated in a cross that was pounced upon by Faye
Callaway to make it 1-0
This resulted in some Carshalton pressure being applied, but they were
unable to breakthrough the Spurs defence, superbly marshalled by Kelly
with some assured goalkeeping by Laura May.
Late in the first half, following a Carshalton corner, a penalty was
awarded for handball. The Carshalton player hit the ball well, but
Laura's reactions were excellent to push the ball onto the crossbar,
with Jenny Homer being alert and clearing the danger.
Into the second half, Tottenham withstood the early Carshalton pressure
and tried to get their passing game going. Almost immediately the
rewards were apparent with the Carshalton goalkeeper being forced into
making a number of saves and Rosi Webb hitting the crossbar.
Samrawit Bereket then went on a mazy run that took her past two defenders to
place a cross into the box that Rosi Webb slotted home for Tottenham's
second goal.
The third came some five minutes later following further good work down
the left hand side and perseverance by Gill. Samrawit collected the
pass, rounded two players and coolly slotted the ball home.
A tough final match for the reserves that sees them in mid table
position.
