Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves 1
Luton Town 4
Friendly
Spurs Ladies Reserves were left to face Luton Town's first team after a communication mix-up and the ladies started
off well making good attacking runs against the Luton defensive line.   The first goal of the game went Luton's way and came from a corner.  THLFC were soon putting the pressure back on and a shot by Jordan Jacobs went straight into the back of the Luton net.  There was little between the two sides, but with minutes to go to the break Luton got their second goal.

Tottenham started the second half positively, but conceded again when Luton got their third goal from a set-piece when a player was left to get a free header.  Spurs were under pressure when a good pass was played to the Luton 18 and she planted her shot into the back of the net.

The score-line does not tell the whole story and the THLFC coaching staff were pleased with the performance.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves 1
Dynamo North London 0
Friendly
A closely fought friendly ended in a 1-0 win for Spurs Reserves against a solid Dynamo North London side.

The visitors started off the better, finding their rhythm and it took a crunching tackle from Dom Clarke to prevent Dynamo taking the lead, preventing a midfielder getting her shot away.  Only a deflection from Jenny Curtis which took the ball just wide of the goal stopped another shot from Dynamo and Laura May was brought into action with a low save on the half hour.

Spurs eventually found their way into the match and started stringing together some passes.  A good run down the right wing by Claire Singh ended in a cross which the keeper did well to hold.  Charley Sandford produced a drive that the keeper saved high up and another shot flew just wide from ten yards out.  Into injury time, it was Sandford again who troubled the Dynamo goal with a 20 yard free-kick that was just too high and then Singh and Katie Taylor combined on the right wing to create a cross that Lizzie De Asha met with a shot that was blocked.

Having established a better tempo and the movement off the ball having improved Tottenham took the lead within seconds of the second half starting.  Carrie Brennan played the ball to Jessie Richards, who passed to Lillie Chapman.  With opponents closing her down, she threaded pass through to Charley, who shrugged off a challenge and hit a 25 yard shot over the keeper to give Spurs the lead with a fine strike.

Dynamo hit back and Laura had to be on her toes to make a save above her head when Dynamo produced a spell of pressure that also saw a shot hit the side netting.  The closest they came was a volley from a corner that just cleared the bar, before Tottenham created a chance for Katie that went wide after good work from Lillie and Sam Garner.  As the game came to a close, Dynamo had a shot across the face of goal, but were unable to grab an equaliser.

Croydon Athletic 2
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves 2

After extra time (score at 90 mins. 2-2); Lost 2-5 on penalties
London County Cup 1st Round
Spurs Reserves had a set-back before the game even began, with five players being delayed in traffic, which meant a makeshift team starting the match with defender Jenny Curtis taking the gloves in goal.

Against the odds, Spurs took a 2-0 lead as they started well with goals from Louise van Hamme and Gill BlackmoreIt was not long before the THLFC defence was called into action and with two good goal-line clearances from Dom Clarke and Mary Griffiths they managed to keep the score line at 2-0.  However, this was not to last and Croydon got two quick goal beating stand-in keeper Jenny Curtis to level the scores.

The second half started with Tottenham pressuring the Croydon defence, but they just could not get the ball into the back of the net.

The game went into extra time and although Tottenham had the opportunities to finish the game, they were unable to grab the vital goal.

The game was finally put to bed on penalties with THLFC losing 5-2, with Tottenham's penalties scored by Lillie Chapman and Athena Yennaris.

This was just not to be.

Hendon Reserves 1
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves 4
Greater London Regional Women's Football League - Reserve Division 1
Spurs reserves played a well-paced game to ease through to a 5-1 win over Hendon Reserves in the Greater London Regional Women's Football League.

Spurs pressed forward from the beginning with some good linking of play between Mary Griffiths, Sam Garner and Jessie Richards.   Even though we had most of the possession for the first 15 minutes, keeping Hendon in their own half, we could not convert the possession to get our first goal.  The back four were working well and it was not long before Tottenham got the first goal when the forwards pressurised the Hendon goalie into making a mistake.

Not long afterwards, it became 2-0, as Sam crossed the ball to Jessie, who converted her second goal of the day.  At this point, Hendon made a change and THLFC were soon under pressure, but the back four held strong in the face of Hendon's attacks.

Gill Blackmore made a good run and crossed to Sam who got on the end with a shot that was just wide.  The Hendon goalie showed great bravery when she plunged into a 50-50 challenge with a Spurs player to deny her a goalscoring opportunity.

Spurs were now playing a considered game and the ladies provided an open chance for Louise van Hamme, which she converted coolly.  However, the Hendon left-sided midfield, who caused problems after she was bought on, broke through the Tottenham defence to grab a goal back for the home team.

With Spurs needing to re-establish their advantage, Dom Clarke pushed up to midfield and crossed long to Sam, who put the ball into the back of the net to make the score 4-1.

Lillie Chapman was bright in midfield and seeing an opportunity, she took a shot, but it was well saved by the keeper, who was then in action again when substitute Andrea Walkes played a through ball which Louise latched onto and forced another save from the keeper.

As time was running down, Dom strode forward again and took a shot that flew just over the crossbar. In a last ditch attempt to narrow the margin, only a super tackle from Jenny Curtis stopped the Hendon attack getting through on goal.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves 6
Acton Sports Club Reserves 2
Greater London Regional Women's Football League - Reserve Division 1
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies FC Reserves recorded a pleasing win to keep their 100% league record.

The ladies started positively with a good attack on the right wing through Sam Garner, whose shot was hit wide.  Mary Griffiths stopped the Acton defence from attacking and having intercepted the ball, she passed forward to Charley Sandford who then laid it off to Lisa McCabe, but the Acton keeper cleared the ball.

However, in the next attack, Charley played the ball in to Jessie Richards, who finished neatly to make it 1-0.  Spurs continued with their good attacking play and Sam did well to keep the ball in play and then crossed to Charley whose shot hit the post and she reacted quickest to the rebound, but her shot is saved by the keeper.  A great through ball out of defence from Dom Clarke saw Jessie latch on it, but she cannot put the shot away.

Midfielder Lillie Chapman threaded a pass through to Lisa McCabe, who runs towards goal with the ball and took her shot early and it hit the back of the net for 2-0.  When Di Gardiner headed the ball onto Charley, she ran forward and her shot was true as she hit the third Tottenham goal.

Acton Reserves began to press forward and a cross from the left had to be well cleared by the Spurs defence, but as another Acton attack was launched, a shot flew wide of the mark.  However, Spurs took the initiative and good play by the whole team lead to the fourth goal before the break, which gave Charley her second of the match.

Tottenham knew that the visitors would come out with all guns firing in the second half and Acton soon got their reward with a goal to bring them back into the match at 4-1.  It only spurred the Tottenham Ladies into action and when the ball was played on by Charley, Jessie made a forward run and slotted the ball past the keeper to restore the four goal lead.

Acton were awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position and the ball was despatched into the top left hand corner to peg Spurs back at 5-2.  Acton changed their keeper and she made a couple of good saves, but when Spurs were handed a free-kick on the edge of the box, which was taken by Lisa and she planted the dead ball into the back of the net for a final score of 6-2.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves 5
QPR Reserves 0
Greater London Regional Women's Football League - Reserve Division 1
Another impressive performance by Spurs Reserves saw them defeat QPR Reserves 5-0 at Fred Knights.

Spurs started in attacking mood and continued throughout the match in the same vein.  Sam Garner was the first to smash a shot just over, then Jessie Richards was denied as her shot was charged down and when she unselfishly put the ball across the goal, nobody was there to follow it in.  Rangers started with a player short, but from a corner a shot was heading for the top corner until Laura May threw up a hand to tip the ball over.  From the resulting corner, Laura was in action again to punch the ball clear.

Charley Sandford had a shooting chance, but the QPR keeper kept it out and Gil Blackmore and Faye Callaway were linking well in midfield to find some space on the left wing.  With Charley and Jessie developing a useful understanding together, three opportunities were created - one saved, one hitting the side netting and the other bounced back off the foot of the goal-post, as Jessie was getting her sights set on goal.

Faye was getting a lot of joy on the left and when she raced up the wing, her ball in to Charley saw a shot beaten out by the keeper.  However, it fell nicely for Jessie to size up the chance and deliver the ball over the recovering goalie and into the top left hand corner of the net to make it 1-0 in the 39th minute.

Breaking the deadlock helped Spurs take the initiative and Charley had a good run finished off with a shot from a narrow angle that bent just wide of the far post leaving the score at 1-0 at the break.

With just two minutes of the second half gone, Lillie Chapman played a slick ball down the line to set Sam away on the right wing and her cross was met by Gill on the slide to lift the ball over the Rangers keeper to double the lead.

Sam had a shot deflected over the top, Jessie had a shot half-saved by the keeper leaving the ball spinning along the line before it was cleared as Spurs pressed forward and then Sam's good work on the right wing lead to Charley hitting a low shot from a narrow angle past the keeper for the third Tottenham goal just after the hour.

Substitute Andrea Walkes first involvement was to win a tackle and the ball broke for Faye, who stretched to hit a shot that flew up over the keeper and into the net for 4-0 halfway through the second half.

As Rangers pushed for a goal, Di Gardiner made some important interceptions and Dom Clarke stood firm against the tricks used to try and get past her, while Athena Yennaris had an opportunity to play the ball out of defence with time and Jenny Curtis took the ball out with some tricky dribbles.

A couple more shots by Jessie flew just wide before Gill played an exquisite pass inside the full back for Lizzie De Asha to take on her opponent and put in a low cross that Jessie popped up to stick in to round off the scoring in a very satisfactory 5-0 win six minutes from the end.  There was even time for a goal-mouth scramble that saw Di denied and Andrea hit the rebound over the top from close range, but the win had been secured and another three points helps keep THLFC Reserves top of the league.

Another good win for Spurs Reserves saw them keep their place at the top of the division after over-coming a strong Luton side.

The ball was fed through to the Spurs strikers early on and with some good link up play between Jessie Richards and Charley Sandford, the ball found it's way in the back of the Luton net thanks to Jessie's finish.  However the Spurs lead did not last long and Luton put the ball out of the reach of the Spurs keeper to make it 1-1 soon afterwards.

Tottenham reacted quickly and piled on the pressure, with it not being long before they were rewarded with their second goal from Gill Blackmore.  A fine first half ended with the ball moving from Charley to Louise van Hamme, who made a good run into the Luton penalty area.  Once there, she picked out Jessie with a pass and the Spurs striker finishes neatly to make the half-time score 3-1.

Luton were not to be underestimated and in the second half made some dangerous runs into the Spurs penalty area, but once again Jenny Curtis was called upon to make a good tackle to avert the danger.  The most dangerous moment arose when Luton were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area and from it, the shot was well saved by Laura May.

As time was running down, Dom Clarke threaded a good pass through to Jessie, but on this occasion, her shot just crept past the post.

It was a good team performance and the girls richly deserve their position in the table and their 100% record.

Greater London Regional Women's Football League - Reserve Division 1
Spurs were at home to their closest rivals Long Lane Reserves and knew this was going to be a tough game, but put in an awesome second half performance to take all three points.

Long Lane took the lead after 10 minutes to shock the Tottenham side with their fast start, but this made Spurs even more determined to pull a goal back.  However this was more difficult than they thought, as the strong Long Lane keeper was doing all she could to prevent this.  So, the Spurs Ladies had to wait until five minutes before half time when Charley Sandford lobbed the keeper to bring the score line level at 1-1.

The second half was going to be a battle of wills and it was not long before Spurs skipper Gill Blackmore beat the keeper to bring it 2-1 and give Spurs the upper hand.  Faye Callaway and Sam Garner played a neat overlap move and Sam shot home to make extend the lead to 3-1.

Tottenham were still not safe as Long Lane piled on the pressure, but some resolute defending by Mary Griffiths, Di Gardiner, Dom Clarke and Jenny Curtis held the visitors at bay.  When they did have the chance to attack, the side were clinical.  Sam made a run up the wing and laid the ball off to Faye, who planted it into the back of the net for the fourth Spurs goal.

Now growing in confidence and with some good team play from Dom, Faye and Louise van Hamme, the move ended with Louise heading the ball into the back of the net making it 5-1 to THLFC.  The danger was still evident from the Long Lane attack, who took advantage of a loose ball, but the defence again kept the ball out.

With the Spurs forwards looking sharp, when Louise took a shot, the visitors' goalie saved well, but Louise reacted first to net the rebound to put Spurs 6-1 ahead.

The Ladies were spurred on by the support from the home crowd and when Sam made another of her trademark runs down the wing and took the defence on, she finished by putting the ball into the net to round off the scoring at 7-1.

Coming back from the knock-back of an early goal, this turned out to be an excellent show of team play in the second half with some good performances, especially from Athena Yennaris, Dom and Gill.

Spurs Reserves continued on their winning ways, with a 2-0 win over Luton Reserves to maintain their 100% record.

On a beautiful morning THLFC travelled to meet Luton on the return meeting between the two sides and Tottenham started off sprightly with a good cross into the area from Athena Yennaris which was headed clear by a Luton defender.  Spurs got their first corner and from it Sam Garner took a shot, but it had to be blocked by a Luton defender.

When a good cross was played in by Gill Blackmore and Louise van Hamme missed from five yards, it appeared that this was not going to be our day, but another cross from Gill across the Luton box found Faye Callaway, who put her head onto it and made it 1-0

Tottenham built on the goal to put pressure on the Luton defence, but they held firm.  Lillie Chapman came closest when she took a shot that flew just over the bar.

Into the second half, Spurs looked better and immediately pushed forward towards the Luton goal and Louise had a shot, which was easily saved by the Luton keeper.  Luton then broke forward and fired in a shot, but the Spurs keeper, Laura May, saved it comfortably.

As the game moved from end to end, Louise hit another shot, which was saved by the keeper but gave Tottenham a corner.  Gill took it and it swung in, straight into the back of the net to give Tottenham a 2-0 lead. Spurs Reserves continued to keep the pressure on, but could not convert that advantage into goals, leaving the final score 2-0 against a resolute Luton side.
