Spurs Ladies' Reserves resumed their football programme with an away game against Leyton FC.

From the offset you could see that Spurs were a bit rusty, however they had most of the possession and were getting the ball into the final third.  However, they could not bury the ball into the back of the net.  It was in about the 30th minute when Fiona Butterfield picked up the ball and made a run for goal.  She laid the ball off to Charlotte Snow who tapped it into make it 1-0.

Spurs continued with the majority of the possession, but when the ball broke for Leyton, the home team seized their chance and it was all square at 1-1.

A second half change saw Kerry Daniells come on and Sasha Kelly replace Charlotte up front.  Leyton had grown in confidence, but, undeterred, Spurs composed themselves and were soon rewarded with their second goal from a low strike from Dee Gilbert.

This lifted Spurs and soon their were playing some good football and with a good cross in from Dom Clarke to the waiting Fiona, a tap in would have made it 3-0, but the striker's shot hit the post.  This was to be the pattern as shot after shot either went wide or hit the post.

At the final whistle, Spurs had been restricted to a 2-1 win, but it was well deserved.

On a grey Sunday morning Spurs Ladies Reserves were at home to local rivals Leyton.

For the first 15 minutes Spurs had the upper hand, but could not finish the chances they created.  Leyton won a corner and one of their players got a head to the ball first.  The effort hit the post and was not cleared away, leading to Leyton converting the opportunity to take the lead.

The second half saw Tottenham still not in the game as much as might have been expected and the ladies needed to lift their game, however, the weather deteriorates and the sky opened leading to the ref calling a temporary halt to the game.

With the clock ticking down, Spurs attack and the Leyton keeper pulled of a couple of good saves to leave Spurs with a corner.   Lessa Shields swung the ball into the six yard box and the visiting keeper couldn't get her hand to it, but the ref ruled the goal out, although nobody was sure what for.

This injustice injected life into the Spurs team and attack after attack saw the ball either finish wide of the mark, be cleared off the line or saved by the keeper.

It did not look likely to be Spurs' day until the ball was played into the box and Sasha Kelly managed to get her toe to it and beat the keeper to level the scores at 1-1.

Within the final minute, Spurs attack again and Leesa took a shot that again forced the Leyton keeper to make a good save to earn her side a point.

Spurs Ladies Reserves put in a very good effort to overcome Hillingdon Ladies in an away game, which keeps them top of the table.

Tottenham started the game with grit and determination and were soon awarded an early corner.  Not long after Beth Richards made a run down the right, passed to Kirsten Shaw, who knocked it back to Beth, while Fiona Butterfield made a run into the box to produce the first test of the Hillingdon keeper, who got good hands to it.

Spurs continued with the good play and with a neat pass from Dom Clarke to Fiona, saw the striker hold it up for Kirsten, who ran at the keeper and neatly put the ball past her into the net for a goal to make it 1-0 to THLFC.

Hillingdon had their first attack and Ricole Vyse made a brilliant one handed save to keep Spurs ahead and this proved to be the warning that the team needed, as they tightened up in defence.  Leesa Shields picked up the ball just inside the opposition's half and using her right foot, she lifted the ball goal-wards and its looked to be going over the bar, but at the last minute it dipped and beat the keeper for 2-0.

Just before half time Leesa laid the ball off to Fiona, who plays an excellent pass to Dee Gilbert and from 25 yards out she took a powerful shot and made it 3-0, which was the score at the break.

Two minutes into the second half, Leesa took a shot which the Hillingdon keeper spilled and Kirsten was on the spot to make it 4-0, with a poacher's goal.

As the Spurs team grew more confident, the ball was played out from the back to Kirsten, who crossed into the box to Sasha Kelly, who took a shot that went wide.  Kerry Daniells strode forward from defence and made a run down the left.  She saw the keeper off her line and took a chance with her shot which paid off and the score was then 5-0 to Spurs.

The team were by now playing some really good football and Beth made a run down the line, played in Kirsten, who crossed the ball into the box and although it was cleared out of the area by Hillingdon, it fell nicely to Dee, who shot home to record the sixth Spurs goal.

When a ball was played up the field, it was chased down by substitute Ebony Heath and her determination was rewarded with a goal to round off the scoring at 7-0.

This was an excellent performance and could not have been achieved without them playing as a team - well done girls.

On a wet and dismal day Spurs Ladies Reserves had their second meeting of the season with Flamingoes, this time at Fred Knights.

Within two minutes Spurs netted their first goal with the ball being played down the left hand side and Kirsten Shaw was there to knock it in.  With a strong counter attack Flamingos break through the midfield and takes a shot and the keeper fumbles the ball due to the wet conditions, although the defence were on hand to cleanly clear the ball away.

The ball is played out by Sam O'Brien to Fiona Butterfield, who shot making the keeper save, but the ball was still loose and Fiona followed up to hit the ball in off the bar to make it 2-0 to Spurs.

Spurs were awarded a free kick, which was taken by Kerry Daniells and she picked out Fiona who made it 3-0.

Amanda O'Neill made a strong, clean challenge on the edge of the box, but the ref saw it differently and awards a penalty.  Goalkeeper Ricole Vyse is confident and ready, so that when Flamingoes took the spot-kick, she had it covered even though it hit the post.

Carly Snell puts a neat cross shortly after the second half kicked off and follows up into the box, shooting straight at the keeper, who fumbled, with the loose ball hit over the bar.  Spurs got another free kick around the box and this time its 4-0, with Fiona converting the dead ball move.

Dee Gilbert laid the ball off to Kirsten and she ran through the middle.  As the keeper came out, Kirsten put the ball into the right corner for the fifth Tottenham goal.

From a corner Chelsea Orridge-Golding got her head to the ball and it was knocked away, but only to the awaiting Amanda, who knocked it home to give Spurs a 6-0 lead.

The ball was played out from the back and Kirsten picked it up to take a shot that the keeper knocks away and as the ball looked to be going wide, Chelsea had different ideas and knock its into the back of the net to round off the scoring in a 7-0 victory for Spurs.

Spurs Ladies Reserves travelled to Hackney Marshes today to face local rivals Hackney Women.

Tottenham started the more positive when Fiona Butterfield broke free and took a shot, only to be denied by the post, but following that incident, not much developed as the game became like a tennis match, with both sides playing long balls up the pitch.

The ref gaves an early booking to Sam O'Brien for hand ball, but she was on hand in the 28th minute when Spurs scored a goal, as a header from Sam was goal-bound, but Fiona made sure by getting her toe to it to force it home.

Dee Gilbert flighted a lovely corner, which was floating into the net until the keeper was called into action and palmed it away for a second corner.  Again, it was a good corner, which only needed a head on it, but alas there was no Spurs player on the end of it.

Into the second half and for the first twenty minutes Spurs looked the better side.  Fiona made a run round two players and was looking for someone to lay the ball off to, but there was nobody in the penalty area.

Gill Blackmore was blatantly fouled, but the ref said play on, leaving Hackney to go on and score to bring the game back to 1-1.  This goal injected some life into the Spurs players, who created a couple of good shots towards the end, but the team were just unable to beat the keeper, leaving the points shared at one apiece.

This was going to be a tough physical game for the THLFC Reserves at MSA Ladies and for the first twenty minutes that is exactly what transpired, with both sides having chances, but making nothing of them.

On the stroke of the 20th minute, Spurs got a break with a through ball played on to Rachel Edlin and she lifted it over to ex-Spurs keeper Lacy Amato to make it 1-0.

MSA were not going to let the goal get them down and it was not long before Ricole was called into action making a save its not cleared fully and there are shouts for goal from the side however both sides continue with the play.  Again both sides are evenly matched and the first half ends 1-0 in our favour.

At the start of the second half MSA come out strongly, but the resilience of the Spurs team showed when Beth Richards, who had replaced Laura Gardiner, made a run into the box to receive a low cross, but she was just unable to get her foot to it and it was cleared.  However, Sam O'Brien anticipated the clearance, chested the ball down and passed to Gill Blackmore who finished crisply to make it 2-0.

It was in the 96th minute that Spurs got the third goal, with a cross played into the waiting Beth Richards, who finished in an accomplished fashion.

Well done ladies, it was a good team performance, which gained the reward it deserved.

A disappointing result stopped the Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Reserves rise up the table as Camden Town came back twice to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Fred Knights.

Spurs showed good attacking intent, but chances were missed before Charlotte Snow hooked home the ball past the Camden keeper from just inside the penalty area halfway through the first half.  While Tottenham applied most of the pressure, a breakaway close to half-time saw a cross-shot from the right fly into the far side of the net.

The second half was a more scrappy affair and two chances eluded Snow, before she hit her second of the game with a goal similar to the Camden equaliser.  Seizing on some confusion in the Tottenham defence, Camden pulled the score back to 2-2 and despite some late chances, Spurs could not find a winning goal.

A positive start from Spurs Ladies was soon awarded against British Airways with a good one two play between Dee  Gilbert and Kerry Daniells, which set up Sasha Kelly to tap the ball into the net to give Tottenham a flying start with a quick 1-0 lead.

Almost immediately Spurs were on the attack again.  Charlotte Snow played a good ball into Fran Hussey, whose shot went wide.  Dom Clarke played the ball down the wing to Fran, who crossed it into the box for Sasha to make it 2-0.

The BA keeper made a flying save on the line and the loose ball was kicked away, but not too far and Charlotte picked up the clearance to shoot home from an awkward angle to give Tottenham a 3-0 advantage.

BA were awarded their first corner and it's not fully cleared by Ricole Vyse in goal, but as Spurs break, Charlotte made a good run and took a shot that went just wide of the goal.  Dee Gilbert switched the play and found Fran, who made a run for goal and volleyed the ball just over the bar.  Striker Alex Small made a run down the wing and took a shot, which, forced the visiting keeper into a double save.  With Spurs in the ascendancy, the ball was played out from Leesa Shields to Laura Gardiner, who saw Sasha making a good run and played the ball through for her to complete a first half hat-trick and make the score 4-0 to Tottenham at the interval.

Into the second half, Spurs start pretty much as they ended the first half with Alex receiving the ball and going around two defenders before making it 5-0.  Then a through ball from Dom to Fran sees the midfielder run on to beat the keeper to extend the lead to 6-0.

Spurs were dominant now and Leesa took a corner and it looked to be floating over everyone when Alex soared to get her head to it and thumped the ball against the bar.  However, from the next corner, Leesa scores to make the score 7-0.

Dom picked out the unmarked Sasha for her fourth and Tottenham's eighth with Jenny Curtis going on a run through the middle just afterwards, before passing on to Charlotte, whose strike went just wide.  Alex ran through the middle to find herself one on one with the keeper and she went round her, took her shot that hit the post and Fran was on hand to knock it in for another Spurs goal.

A rare British Airways attack ended with a shot, but it went wide, but then Spurs broke away and Sasha ran down the wing to cross the ball into the waiting Charlotte and she converted to make it 10-0.

A good ball played into Alex saw the forward stretch and was unable to get full power behind the shot, but it rolls into the net for 11-0 and it was 12 minutes later, when Laura played an excellent ball to Fran.  The keeper came out, but missed the ball and Charlotte was waiting to turn and put the ball into an open goal for her hat-trick.

The final goal of the game came when a ball was played over the top and the keeper mis-judged its flight leaving Alex for a simple finish for her hat-trick and a 13-0 victory for Spurs.

Spurs Ladies Reserves travelled south of the river for today's game against Flamingoes.

From the start of the game, we knew it was going to be tough, with an early warning when a shot just on 18 yards hit the crossbar.  However, undeterred, Spurs break out and are awarded a corner, which was taken quickly by Dee Gilbert to the awaiting Amanda O'Neill, who knocks it into the net to give Tottenham a 1-0 lead.

Growing in confidence, Spurs star to play some good football.  When Amanda lays the ball off to Sam O'Brien, the ball is moved in to the awaiting Beth Richards, who takes a shot and the keeper does well to tip it over the bar.

Into the second half and Flamingoes come out much the stronger side, however Sasha Kelly picks up a loose ball, runs through the middle and looks to be onto a winner, when a Flamingoes defender put in a very good challenge to clear the ball.  Its not long before Flamingoes are rewarded for their invigorated performance by an equaliser from a free header.

There were spells when Spurs looked like they could win, however, they did not take the chances available to them.

Third game of the GLRWFL season and Spurs Ladies Reserves are under no illusion that this is going to be easy.
From the start of the match against Hillingdon Ladies, the determination was there with some fluent passing and the team launched an early attack, however nothing came of it.

It was not long before the first warning came with a run down the left flank and Tottenham were on the back foot.  Kerry Daniells chased her runner down and did enough to thwart the attempt on goal.  A counter attack saw Dee Gilbert take a shot, which was high, although the flight of the ball looked as if it was taking it in, however the ball flies just wide.

A Spurs corner led to Fiona Butterfield getting a shot cleared off the Hillingdon line and it looked as though it was over, but the 'goal' was not given.  Shortly after, Dom Clarke was alert and took a shot that the keeper saved and even though Dom got to the second ball, the keeper was there once more to save.

Spurs were keen to consolidate their attacking style in the second half and five minutes in, Carly Williams took a touch and then fired a shot that hit the bar before going into the net to give a 1-0 lead to Tottenham.  Spurs were playing some good football and when they play this way they make it look easy.  Full back Dom was pushing up on the wing and crossed on the run, pinging the ball to the waiting striker Fiona Butterfield, but her effort was wide.

A foul on Charlie Archer earned Spurs a free kick, which was knocked into the box and the effort brought an easy save by the Hillingdon keeper.

A ball was fed out to Fiona and she took a 25 yard shot and it rattled back off the bar.  Then Fran Hussey laid the ball across the goal to Tash Ademakinwa, who was bought down and Spurs were awarded a penalty.  Dee stepped up to take the spot-kick, hit it well, but the keeper made a good save and knocked the ball over the bar.

Continuing to attack the visitors goal, Kerry went on a run down the flank, went around two players then crossed to Beth Richards, but she could not find the strength of shot needed to beat the keeper.

The progressive football being played by Spurs paid off, when Dee kicked the ball up-field to Fiona, who was aware of the keeper being off her line and lobbed over her to make the score 2-0 to Spurs.

It was a good performance, however, the team can do better and must make more of finishing the chances they create.

The Spurs Ladies Reserves put in a strong performance against K.I.K.K and from an quick start to proceedings, earned two consecutive corners, which gave KIKK an early warning of the threat from Spurs.

Leesa Shields put a cross into the box and as the keeper came out, Charlie Archer took the ball around her and slotted it into the back of the net.  Spurs looked as if they were off to a good start, however, they were soon disappointed when the linesman lifts his flag very late and the goal is disallowed.

Tottenham were still shocked by the decision and were caught on the counter attack, needing Amanda O'Neill to make a lovely, well-timed challenge.  Producing a much better performance than last week, Spurs pressured all the time, but the decisions are going against them.

In the second half Spurs came out of the blocks even more determined and when Dee Gilbert played a through ball to Fiona Butterfield, the Spurs forward calmly slotted it into the back of the net and once more the flag goes up, but this time the ref says it's a good goal to make it 1-0 to Tottenham.

Spurred on, Sam O'Brien took a shot that the keeper knocked out for a corner, which was taken quickly and this time the keeper made a save, but fumbled and the ball was loose.  Tottenham had two shots and each time, the ball was blocked.  However, it was third time lucky and Amanda made it 2-0.

KIKK won a corner, which Spurs defended, although the whistle went and KIKK were awarded a penalty - later revealed as being for one of our players climbing over a KIKK player.  Ricole Vyse was called into action and just failed to keep the spot-kick out, which pulled the score-line back to 2-1.

Spurs had to dig deep, pull together as a team and work hard for each other in the closing stages, as they held on to secure their first win of the season.

Well done girls.

The new Spurs Ladies reserve side kicked off the season in a new league playing local opponents Hackney Women. For the first twenty minutes there was not much between the two sides however it was Hackney that took the first goal when the Spurs keeper misjudged the ball and it fell loose to a waiting Hackney player.

This gave Spurs the kick that they needed to begin playing and they started to pass the ball around with much more confidence.

Into the second half there was no change as Spurs continued to pressure Hackney and they were soon rewarded when they drew the score level when Tash put the ball into the back of the net.  In the 60th minute Carly Williams replaced Chelsea Orridge-Golding to face her old club and Sam O'Brien replaced Beth Richards.

When Spurs bought the ball down and played a passing game they looked confident, but a soft second Hackney goal was also condemned Tottenham to an undeserved 1-2 defeat.

Spurs Reserves can learn from today's game and work to become a much more stronger unit in the weeks ahead.
