The Tottenham u10 blues met Enfield Town for the second time this season at Fred Knights today

The match started off with Enfield constantly in our half of the pitch but Isobel Phillips and Sydney Fairs were there to deal with anything Enfield threw at them.  Amelia Shiner, Tayla Jackson and Shania Mogridge found their feet in the middle of the field and started to pressure the oppositions defence with Stephanie Kypri sitting in wait for any opportunity to put the Blues in front.

Lois Pennington, Charlotte Cummings and Parris Williams came on half way through the half and carried on the pressure with Chloe O'Reilly taking over duties at the back.

The second half began with the same tempo, the Blues matched Enfield in every area of the pitch and fought tooth and nail for every ball. 10 minutes into the second half Enfield managed to beat the last player and give themselves a 1-0 advantage. Still the girls played with real belief that the game wasn’t over and had most of the chances unfortunately just coming up short on the final ball.

At the other end goalkeeper Lillian Irvine again was exceptional making some fantastic saves.

The final score finished 1-0 to the away team but considering that the same team beat us 7-1 just 5-6 weeks ago is a great result.

The girls were an absolute delight to watch and if there was a league for guts and determination, we would be well up at the top.

Well done girls.

The Tottenham u10 Blues travelled up to Luton this morning in their second meeting with Luton Town this season.

The weather was freezing and wet, but that didn't stop the girls giving their all in what promised to be an exciting match.

The Blues were two players short with Isabel Phillips and Chloe O'Reilly both poorly, but the others done themselves proud.  The match started off equally balanced with the ball being played from end to end, although it didn't take long for Lois Pennington, Shania Mogridge and Charlotte Cummings to get into their stride in midfield beating the opposing players to every ball and Paris Williams made some lovely runs down the flank.

Sydney Fairs and Amelia Shiner excelled in defence, not allowing any of the Luton players to trouble goalkeeper Lillian Irvine, who stepped up as usual to collect the ball when required.

Tayla Jackson and Stephanie Kypri came on to pick up the pace and made things difficult for the Luton defence and after sustained pressure Steph finally got the goal they deserved making it 1-0.

Luton tried hard to equalise, but the Tottenham girls were not going to give their well deserved lead away easily and fought hard to make sure they came away with another win.

All the girls gave their all today, even though they were soaking wet and absolutely freezing.  Manager Matt Chapman and Coach Mark Fairs was delighted with all the girls but Player of the match went to Sydney Fairs who was terrific today.

The Tottenham Under-10 Blues travelled up to Denham for their second encounter of the season in the HGFL.

The Spurs u10s didn't have a great start to the match with Lois Pennington getting another knock on an already vulnerable knee, then giving away three goals in quick succession.

Taking all this in to account the girls battled hard with Sydney Fairs and Isabel Phillips in defence.  Chloe O'Reilly, Charlotte Cummings and Tayla Jackson in midfield and Amelia Shiner in her new role up front.  Lillian Irvine was as usual tremendous in her role as goalkeeper.

Coach Mark Fairs made some changes with Shania Modridge and Stephanie Kypri coming on to give us some more fire power up front.

In the second half, the Blues made their way back to the performances they were putting in before the Christmas break and began to make Denham work hard to keep their 3-0 lead.  Tayla Jackson made a number of promising runs up the right flank and Paris Williams won the battle on the left.  Unfortunately for us, Denham were very strong in defence and we just couldn't find a way through.  Goalkeeper Lillian become a hero when Denham were awarded a penalty for a hand ball in the area and the Spurs keeper made a great save to keep the score at 3-0 to the home team.

The final score was 3-0 to Denham.  Although the girls made a bad start they soon picked themselves up and gave a performance that they all can be proud of.

Chloe O'Reilly got player of the match for her best performance of the season to date.

Well done girls.

Everyone wishes Lois a speedy recovery.

The Spurs Ladies Under-10s Blues were at a very cold Fred Knights to face Harvesters in the HCGFL.

Tottenham started off with Lillian Irvine in goal, Sydney Fairs and Chloe O'Reilly at the back, Isobel Phillips, Tayla Jackson and Shania Modgridge in midfield and Stephanie Kypri up front.

Straight from the kick off, the Blues were finally back to their pre-Christmas form and run at Harvesters every chance they got, putting pressure on the opposition's impressive goalkeeper.  Changes were made that saw Charlotte Cummings, Parris Williams and Amelia Shiner come on and continue to press the Harvester defence.  Both teams had chances throughout the half with balls skimming the posts and both goalkeepers called upon to keep the score level going into half time.

The second half kicked off in the same vein, which saw both teams pressing for the goal that was going to break the deadlock.  Unfortunately, neither team had that bit of luck and this fast paced, exciting game finally finished honours even at 0-0.

All the girls played their hearts out after a bit of a discouraging time recently and played as a team today and if not for Harvesters goalkeeper could have came away with the win which would have been thoroughly deserved.

Manager Matt Chapman and Coach Mark Fairs found it really hard to name a player of the match as there were so many good performances but gave it to Parris Williams for her effort in midfield.

Well done girls.

The Spurs Ladies Under-10 Blues travelled miles up the M25 for their second away match in less than a month against the Denham United Under 10s.

Unfortunately, the girls hadn't learnt from the last time they were here, when Denham went 2-0 up within the first 10 minutes due to the girls taking their time to get into the game.  Different day; exactly the same game today.  The match was evenly poised for the rest of the first half.

The second half was yet again a totally different ball game with the Blues making some good chances for themselves to get back into the game.  Chloe O'Reilly and Isabel Phillips were great again at the back and Lillian Irvine as usual impeccable between the posts.

Charlotte Cummings and Lois Pennington put up a great fight in the middle of the field with Stephanie Kypri and Shania Modgridge beating players on the flanks to try to set up Sydney Fairs in her new role upfront.  Denham were rewarded a free kick half way through the second half and although Syd made a great block it came out to yet another Denham player who smashed the ball home to make it 3-0 to the opposition.

Tottenham again didn't drop their heads and started to play some lovely football with Steph, Syd and Shania finding a real pattern to their passing which, after at least six great attempts on target, Steph finally netted to give us a well deserved goal.

The final score finished 3-1 to Denham but I think that if we had started the way we finished it would have been a totally different score-line at the end.

Another game of two halves.  Start where you left off next game girls and I honestly believe you will become a real handful for any opposition.  Unlucky, girls.

The Under-10 Blues faced Enfield Rangers today at a surprisingly warm Fred Knights.

The Blues were four players down today including their trusted goalkeeper, because of half term commitments. Lois Pennington bravely stepped up to take her place in between the posts and within the first five minutes had made at least three vital saves.  Sydney Fairs and Chloe O'Reilly, who are both improving week after week, stood strong at the back with Tayla Jackson, Shania Mogridge, Parris Williams and Stephanie Kypri giving it their all in their attacking roles.

Spurs went 1-0 down halfway through the first half after a mix up in our penalty area, but continued making chances of their own at the other end.

The second half kicked off with the Blues 1-0 down, but although the girls were beginning to tire, they still fought for the equaliser.  Unfortunately, a lapse in concentration eight minutes in saw Rangers double their lead.

Tottenham continued their fight right up to the final whistle and looking back really gave the game to the opposition rather than them winning it.

The THLFC Under 10 Blues travelled up to Luton for our third meeting in the HCGFL today.

Tottenham started the match brightly with Lillian Irvine in goal, Chloe O'Reilly and Isabel Phillips strong at the back.  Tayla Jackson, Stephanie Kypri and Amelia Shiner passing fluently in the midfield and Sydney Fairs causing problems upfront.

Spurs made chance after chance throughout the half but the scores remained level.  Coach and now manager Mark Fairs made some changes with Parris Williams, Lois Pennington, Charlotte Cummings and Shania Modridge coming on and slotting into their designated positions with ease. The half finished 0-0.

The Blues totally dominated the second half, but yet again just couldn't break the deadlock.  All the girls gave it their all and were so unlucky not to win this match convincingly, although this was a much improved Luton team to the one we had met at the start of the season. Somehow the match ended 0-0.

Well done girls you really are improving week after week we just don't seem to be getting that little bit of luck.

Thank you to Matthew Chapman who as stepped down as manager today, all the best in the future and we will see you soon.  Coach Mark Fairs will now take over as manager.

home counties girl's football league  - u10 cup quarter final

The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-10 Blues travelled up to Harvesters FC for the third time this season in our HCGF league cup quarter final meeting.

Spurs showed their intentions when straight from the kick off striker Lois Pennington went on a soaring run towards the home goal.  The Blues kept this up with Lois, Shania Modgrige and Tayla Jackson all running the Harvester defence ragged. Tottenham finally got rewarded for their persistence when Lois, after a great passing move which started at the back from Isabel Phillips, got a well deserved goal to put us 1-0 to the good.

Changes were made which saw Stephanie Kypri, Charlotte Cummings and Parris Williams slot into the midfield and Amelia Shiner take her place into a tight defence.  The girls continued on with the same hunger and managed to double their lead with a wonderful goal smashed in from Steph.  Without doubt, Tottenham deserved their lead and finished the half 2-0 up.

The second half saw Harvesters change their team about and the game became more evenly balanced.  Both teams had chances and Harvesters managed to take one of theirs to put the match at a very unnerving 2-1.  Spurs took this in their stride and the rest of the match was played with end to end chances and some heroic defending by both teams.  Tottenham held their nerve and finally finished deserved 2-1 winners.

All credit to the girls in the White and blue of Tottenham they battled for every ball. Charlotte Cummings ran from attack to defence the whole time she was on the field. Sydney Fairs, Chloe O’Reilly and especially today Isabel defended tirelessly from kick off.  Amelia didn’t stop running and battling for every ball making some very important tackles throughout the pitch, Tayla and Shania ran their socks off up and down the flanks playing some lovely passing moves, while Stephanie, Lois and Parris could have made life difficult for any defence and of course goalie Lillian Irvine was as usual impeccable in goal.

Needless to say new manager Mark Fairs couldn’t single out any of the girls for Player of the match, but was absolutely over the moon with the way the team showed such determination to make it in to the draw for the semi final of the cup.

Well done girls, you showed that you were going to win this match no matter how hard it became and didn’t panic once which is more than can be said for the anxious parents on the sidelines.

The u10 Tottenham Blues were at Fred Knights in their first meeting this season with The u10 Whites.

The first half saw The Blues enjoy most of the possession and most of the chances with Lois Pennington, Stephanie Kypri, Tayla Jackson and Charlotte Cummings pressurising the opposing defence.  Sydney Fairs and Chloe O'Reilly stood strong at the back and Lillian Irvine was on hand when called upon. The match remained goalless at the half way break.

The second half was a more even affair.  Parris Williams, Isabel Phillips, Shania Modgridge and Amelia Shiner shined in their designated positions and both teams pressed for the goal that would break the deadlock.  Unfortunately for us, the break came for The Whites when their striker scored after a goal mouth clearance fell into her path.  Final score 1-0 to The Whites.

A brilliant display from all the Blues players and this performance shows just how much this side have improved since the start of the season.  So unlucky today, but everyone was proud of the way they performed and fought tooth and nail right up to the final whistle.
