The Spurs Ladies Under-10 Blues travelled to Southgate Cricket Club to face league leaders - Enfield Town Under-10s today.

The Blues started the match in fine form and within 15 minutes we were 1-0 up thanks to a fine tap in from Parris Williams.  Tottenham had well deserved their lead with some fine performances throughout the pitch. Stephanie Kypri who had bravely stepped up for goalkeeping duty was on hand if on the ball managed to squeeze past defenders Chloe O'Reilly and Sydney Fairs.  Charlotte Cummings, Tayla Jackson and Parris Williams made great passing moves all over the pitch and Amelia Shiner ran tirelessly upfront. The half finished 1-0 to The Blues.

The second half started in exactly the same way that the first half had been played with chances at either end, unfortunately Enfield managed to sneak an equalizer 1-1.  Not a team to give up Spurs continued to press to regain their lead which they done less then five minutes later with a smashing shot into the top corner again by Parris Williams.  2-1.

Isabel Philips was as usual impeccable at the back and with changes made in midfield Lois Pennington and Shania Modgridge continued to threaten the Enfield defence at every opportunity.

Enfield finally scored their second after a goal mouth scramble and with merely minutes to go scored a lucky third to win the match 3-2.

The Blues today were an absolute delight to watch and unbelievably unlucky not to win this thoroughly enjoyable game.  The improvement in this team as been immense, a thought echoed by the Enfield Manager, who had nothing but praise for our brilliant young team.

I would like this opportunity to say a sad farewell to Amelia Shiner and her lovely family who are leaving us for the rest of the season, you have been a wonderful and very large part of this great team and will be sadly missed by one and all. Hurry back and we look forward to seeing you again next season.

The THLFC Under-10 Blues were up at a cold, wet and windy Regents Park for their HCGFL match against Hampstead today.

The match was an even affair with most of the game being played in the midfield. Lillian Irvine as usual great in goal. Sydney Fairs, Chloe O'Reilly and Isobel Phillips done well in defence. Shania Modridge, Tayla Jackson, Charlotte Cummings and Paris Williams done well in the midfield and Stephanie Kypri tried hard upfront.

Hampstead managed to score goal in each half to give them a 2-0 victory.

The girls didn't play as well as they have in recent weeks, but this could largely be put down to the weather conditions which were far from ideal.  However, I'm sure they will return to the excellent form they've been showing in time for their match against the Tottenham Hotspur Under-10 Whites next week.

Player of the match went to Charlotte Cummings who was outstanding today. Well done Charlotte.

home counties girl's football league  - u10 cup semi-final
The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-10 Blues were at a warm Fred Knights for their semi final of the League Cup against league leaders Enfield Town.

The first half was a close affair which was only separated by an unstoppable goal from Enfield's talented striker. Lillian Irvine made some fantastic saves.  Sydney Fairs, Isabel Phillips and Chloe O'Reilly were quick to deal with the numerous threats that came our way.  Tayla Jackson, Shania Modgridge, Lois Pennington and Charlotte Cummings fought for every ball in the middle of the park and Parris Williams and Stephanie Kypri tried their best upfront.

The second half started with a disastrous first five minutes, where Enfield ran riot and took the tally to 3-0, before Parris pulled one back, but Enfield were too strong on the day and the match finished 6-1.  Although I must admit three of the goals came again from silly lapses of concentration.

Manager Mark Fairs, although upset in not reaching the final, was really pleased with the way the girls battled throughout the game and done everything he had asked of them.

Player of the Match went to Shania who was outstanding today.

The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-10 Blues were at Fred Knights for their third meeting of the season against the Under-10 Whites.  The Whites have gone away victorious in the last two meetings and the Blues were determined that today wasn't going to end in another defeat.

The Blues were without goalkeeper Lillian Irvine today, so tiny defender Sydney Fairs bravely stepped in to the position. The match started much the same as those before with both teams evenly matched and the game being played virtually end to end.

The Whites struck first when their striker managed to slip past our last player and smash it in to the left corner.

As usual the grit and determination of the Blues shone through and they fought to make sure the opposition didn't get the chance to double their lead. Half time 0-1.

The Blues have had a tendency to give games away in the first five minutes of the second half, but not today. Chloe O'Reilly and Isobel Philips were solid at the back.  Shania Modridge, Tayla Jackson, Stephanie Kypri and Charlotte Cummings were outstanding in the midfield, while Parris Williams and Lois Pennington made life hell for The Whites defence.  The Spurs Blues finally got their just reward when Tayla went on a soaring run down the right flank and after some tough defending by the opposing team, shot straight in from the right hand corner of the penalty box. 1-1.

Both teams continued to press for the winner and rookie goalie Syd done us all proud with three great saves to keep the score level.

The winner came with ten minutes to go when Shania, who had beaten her last player, was seen to be brought down inside the box for which the Blues were rewarded with a spot kick.  Lois bravely volunteered and to the delight of her nervous team mates (and even more anxious parents and manager) struck it beautifully in the corner of the net 2-1 to the Blues.

The following ten minutes seemed more like ten hours with yet more chances at both ends, but our girls were not going to let their lead slip and saw out the rest of the match to seal their victory.  Final score 2-1 to the Blues.

All the girls were absolutely great today with no exceptions and deserved their victory especially on their second half performance.  Manager Mark Fairs could not give player of the match today as everyone of them deserved it. Well done girls you were great.
