As is usual, in what was the fourth encounter between the THLFC Under-10 Whites and Enfield Rangers this season, the game started off with little between them.  Both sides being familiar with each other players and style there was a cancelling out of each others attacks.  As the game progressed Enfield Rangers began to get a hold of the game and really challenge the masterful, as ever, defending of Carlota Franques and eventually on 15 minutes they slotted home the first goal.

Minutes later much to everyone’s surprise, following an Enfield free kick sportingly passed back to the Tottenham goalkeeper Bella Hansard, the ball inadvertently slipped through Bella’s hands and trickled over the line giving Enfield a two goal advantage.

Very sportingly and generously Enfield allowed Tottenham to begin the second half with a free run to goal from which captain Flo Donald converted.  This gave Tottenham a new lease of life and it wasn’t long before right winger Izzy Lewis got the tip of her foot on a ball crossed in by Kally Ann Westgarth to poke home the second.

Tottenham heads were up and they could sense victory and started pushing forward from the back with Joely Haris-Tharp getting some excellent passes up field to link up the play.  Elle Sunshine made some strong tackles from the right and Rosie Johnson and Holly Beaumont took it in turn to lead the line.  Enfield with their eyes on progressing up the table had a few chances, but Bella Hansard made several good saves to keep the game even.

With five minutes to go, a Tottenham break saw excellent passing and an unselfish cross from Flo to Mia Farrell, who blasted the ball into the back of the net and put the Tottenham side into a lead which they held firmly on to. The delighted girls then lifted up Mia Farrell, the well deserved player of the match.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under 10 Whites left their club mates The Blues feeling just that as they slotted four past them.

There were only seven Whites available including Maia Wallace-Loizou making her debut for the team and the team went on the attack from the off, seeing several shots narrowly miss the target.  It took 15 minutes before a fantastic shot from Kally Ann Westgarth, who played a blinder, finally hit the back of the net.  Taking their inspiration from Kally Ann, the Whites pushed home and her goal was shortly followed by Holly Beaumont finding a gap in the Blues defence to slip in number two.

As the second half progressed the Blues started to push on, but were seen off by captain of the day Joely Harris -Tharp, who linked up with new girl Maia Wallace-Loizou to form a strong defensive duo.  Anything getting near goal was adeptly dealt with by Mia Farrell, who was strong between the sticks.

The Whites with some slick passing and a strong determination to win wanted to make sure they did not lose their lead and continued to push forward and look for a third goal.  Twelve minutes into the second half Leonie Barrick, who was later named player of the match, scored her first goal of the season picking up a loose ball in the box and firmly driving home.

As the game progressed the Whites began to play the long ball forward and catch the Blues out of position.  After a few attempts to catch the Blues on the break, Rosie Johnson got on the end a long pass and found herself with just the keeper to beat.  Rosie took her chance confidently and shot to the right of the keeper to make it 4-0.

Well done to Maia Wallace-Loizou who adapted well to her first ever match and to Leonie who played her best game of the season and had the self assurance to take her chance and score her first goal for the team.

The THLFC Under 10 Whites followed the Under 11s on to the pitch after their their  2-0 semi final cup victory over the Luton Town Under 11s side.  The Whites came looking for goals having already put 11 past Luton this season.  However, it took them until the eighteenth minute of the first half to finally find the back of the net.  The move came from some well worked passing between Holly Beaumont and Flo Donald which saw the captain’s shot hit the back of the net.

The game was literally all uphill for the second half and although and Spurs were putting the pressure on, eight minutes into the second half, Luton managed to split the defence and slip past the goal keeper of the day Mia Farrell, who had made several sound saves.

The girls were not deterred and calmly made it clear that they were pushing for the second goal.  Several well worked moves saw Kally Ann Westgarth (who at one point in the game made an amazing backwards flip pass into the area from just past the half way line) and Rosie Johnson link up well and Rosie eventually managed to bury one of her trademark goals.

Joely Harris Tharp, Leonie Barrick and Elle Sunshine blocked any other attacks on the Spurs goal and kept the score at 2-1.

Player of the match went to Flo Donald, who kept the girls together working hard in all areas of the pitch joining up the play.

The Spurs Ladies Under 10 Whites looked strong in their last game of the season.  Having never taken a point all season from the always well organised Hampstead side, the Whites were determined to take the opportunity to make amends.

The Whites played three at the back with commanding captain Flo Donald in the middle just slightly forward of two wider defenders that rotated between Carlota Franques, Joely Harris Tharp and Maia Wallace-Loizou, ensuring the Tottenham defence could not be easily breached.  The defence supported each well and with a spare player they were able to cut out the three player attacks Hampstead use to break the defence.

The midfield pairings of Leonie Barrick and Izzy Lewis taking it in turns to support Kally Ann Westgarth, who had a hard job with only two in midfield to join up the play from defence through a narrow funnel to a waiting Elle Sunshine the lone player up front.  However, Elle does not like to wait and made many forays back into the midfield to retrieve the ball herself with her strong tackling disrupting and breaking up the Hampstead passing.

Apart from a slightly creaky start, Tottenham soon got into their stride and never looked like they were going to be beaten.  A few goalmouth scrambles could have even resulted in a goal with Elle on several occasions nearly getting a toe onto the ball.

Stand in keeper and player of the match Mia Farrell saved the day when she blocked a last minute Hampstead shot that was going into the bottom left hand corner, quickly retrieving the ball before Hampstead had a chance to respond and clearing the ball from the area.

A clean sheet against Hampstead felt like a result for the Tottenham girls who ended their season on a high.
