The Under 10 Whites kicked off their
first ever game on Saturday when an excellent 8-0 friendly victory over
Harvesters.
From the off, Tottenham played an
excellent passing game and were ahead after two minutes through a well
taken goal by Alison Hastings-Woodward.
Georgia Miller then went onto be the star
of the show scoring five goals and working tirelessly throughout.
The defence of goalkeeper Naomi Coulson,
Kayla Miles, Rhiannon Bassett and Kathleen Jackson were resolute
throughout and built a series of plays from the back. Captain Tara
Sandford was the engine in midfield and also bagged two goals in the
progress whilst Evie Rose, Kitty Chapman and Jacqueline McLucas were a
constant threat from wide midfield positions.
An encouraging opening performance.

Spurs Under-10s ran out 3-0 winners in a
Cup tie between two sides both playing their first competitive match. Spurs
played well in the opening exchanges, with Georgia Miller lively in
attack, but having two efforts go wide and two others well saved by the
Denham keeper. The visiting keeper was very busy, as she also made two
good stops from Hannah Fenton-Burgess and Georgia again. Spurs made the
breakthrough in the 22nd minute though. A corner kick was worked
short from Evie Rose to Hannah, who cut inside into the right hand
corner of the area and unleashed a shot that flew through some defenders
and past the keeper to give Spurs the lead. The
lead was doubled inside the first minute of the second half, when
captain Tara Sandford found Hannah upfield and she set up Georgia to hit
the second goal. Once more the keeper did well to intercept a
square pass from Hannah that had Georgia waiting to put the ball into
the net. Fourteen minutes into the second half, Georgia Miller
took the ball through the middle of the Denham defence and shot home to
make the score 3-0. Hannah
had three good chances to score, but was wide with one, was denied by
the goalie and saw the other opportunity touched onto the post by the
keeper. Denham were not restricted to their own half and broke out
in the second half to bring Kayla Miles and Rhiannon Bassett into action
to stop them threatening Kitty Chapman's goal. A
pleasing win for the Whites, with a good amount of passing in the game
and some very good finishing, while the defence held firm, even when
Rhiannon had to leave the field for a short while. It was a good
game and Denham never gave up at any time in the match. |

Despite a 7-0 defeat to Luton Town
Belles, the Under 10 Whites progressed through to the next phase of the
Chairman's Cup on Saturday.
With only six players fit for the game, Spurs put up a brave show with
reserve keeper Evie Rose making several good saves. Defender Kayla
Miles was the Spurs player of the match for her strong battling
performance throughout.

The Under 10s Whites maintained their
100% league record with a 1-0 victory over Hitchin Town Belles.
Spurs build up play was excellent from the start, but they found it
extremely hard to get behind a well-disciplined Hitchin defence.
It wasn't until midway through the first half that Spurs took the lead
when Hannah Fenton-Burgess crossed back for Georgia Miller to tuck the
ball away.
Hitchin came out more attack minded in the second half, but the Spurs
defence held strong to maintain the 1-0 advantage to the end.
Kathleen Jackson was the Spurs Player of the Match for her polished
defensive performance.

A good performance by the Spurs Ladies
Under-10 Whites was not enough to stem the tide as Luton Town Belles ran
out winners in this HGFL match. Having
lost 0-7 earlier in the season, Spurs were keen to prove that was a
result of them being under-strength and within four minutes they took
the lead when Tara Sandford forced the keeper to save and Hannah
Fenton-Burgess was alert to knock the rebound over the diving keeper
into the net. The lead lasted just
three minutes, with a Luton player converting a returned clearance past
Kitty Chapman. Another three minutes and another Luton goal
arrived to give them the lead. A break left Kitty unprotected and
the ball beat her attempt to stop it and went into the net. Luton
were pressing forward and having rounded Kitty, a Luton forward must
have thought she had scored, but a saving tackle by Rhiannon Bassett
prevented Tottenham going further behind. Another good chance for
Luton saw Georgia Miller helping out back in defence making a clearance,
just as one of the Belles looked favourite to score. Right
on half-time, Luton could have gone further ahead, but when a shot came
back off a post, the ball fell to a Luton player in front of an open
goal, but their shot went over the bar. Spurs
regrouped at the break and in the second half passed the ball
better. A good move involving Hannah, Georgia and Tara ended with
the captain hitting a shot just wide of the post. Against the run
of play in this half, Luton took a throw-in and the ball ended up in the
net with a shot off the post to make it 1-3. Christie
Page was putting in some hard work in midfield and had a shot well-saved
by the keeper and Kathleen Jackson also tested the Luton goalie with a
long shot. With time running out, Spurs pushed to get back into
the game with Georgia making a run from her own half and at the end of
it, she fired her shot only just off target. As
the seconds ticked away, Luton broke again to take a shot from a narrow
angle that left Kitty beaten to hand Luton a 1-4 win, which was a little
hard on the Spurs team, who made a good effort against a sound Luton
side. |

The Under 10's won a thrilling 4-3
victory over Denham United Wildcats in the HGFL on Saturday.
Denham started the stronger of the two sides and were only kept at bay
by the goalkeeping of Kitty Chapman and defenders Rhiannon Bassett and
Kayla Miles.
Spurs took the lead through an excellent
solo run from Georgia Miller midway through the first half.
In the second half, Spurs started brightly and went into a three nil
lead from goals from Miller and Hannah Fenton-Burgess. However, Denham
quickly came back into the game to reduce the arrears to two. A
well taken goal by Fenton Burgess put Spurs back into a 4-1 lead before
Denham United put a great fight in the closing stages with a further two
goals.
An excellent game by both sides, well refereed and play in a great
spirit.
Spurs would also like to thank Denham for their hospitality on the day.
It was much appreciated.
