The
U10 Whites put up a brave show in going down 2-0 to Denham United U11
Wildcats in a 30 minute one off friendly game.
Denham had Spurs on the back foot early on the game and only excellent
defending of Natasha Smits, Jenny Hunnable plus some great saves from
Kitty Chapman kept Spurs in the game.
Spurs soon started to find their feet and midfielders Emma Lee, Georgia
Sanders, Evie Rose and Isabella Rueben-Compton drove the team forward
into the Denham half. Tia Fogarty worked tirelessly as the lone striker
throughout.
Denham deserved their victory on the day but it was a good experience
for the Spurs girls against an U11 side that finished fifth in last
year’s Under 10 top division.
Player of
the Match: Jenny Hunnable.

The
Under 10’s Whites were involved in a friendly with the Under 11 Whites
on Saturday narrowly losing 3-2. The Under 11’s took the lead
early on but the Under 10’s came back with a goal through a sweet left
footed drive from Isabella Rueben-Crompton.
In the
second half, the Under 11 Whites put the Under 10 Whites under some
pressure and went into a 3-1 lead. With a few minutes left,
Isabella Rueben-Crompton scored direct from a free-kick to make the
final score 3-2.
Thanks
to the Under 11 Whites for agreeing to the fixture after so many sides
turned down the opportunity to play before the competitive season starts
next week.

Despite a
late onslaught, the Under 10 Whites slipped to a narrow 3-2 defeat to
Luton Town Belles in the first group fixture in the Chairman’s Cup.
Luton
started the brighter of the two teams are went ahead mid-way through the
first half when Spurs failed to clear their lines from a corner.
Luton doubled their lead when their skillful centre forward slipped past
two Spurs defenders before coolly slipping the ball beyond the Spurs
keeper.
Hannah
Fenton-Burgess brought Spurs back into the game with 10 minutes
remaining before Luton converted a penalty for handball to make the
score 3-1. Spurs then kicked into life and Hannah Fenton-Burgess
added her second with a well taken goal to bring the arrears back to one
goal. The girls battled hard in the closing stages but couldn’t
get the elusive equalizer.
Player of
the match was captain Emma Lee for driving performance from the centre
of midfield.

With
several players absent through Jewish New Year and injury, the Under-10
Whites were only able to field six players in the Chairman’s Cup fixture
against local rivals Enfield Town on Saturday.
The
team put on a magnificent display of tough, battling, attractive
football from the first minute. By the break, Hannah
Fenton-Burgess had completed a great hat-trick with a further two goals
from free flowing winger, Tia Fogarty to take Spurs into a 5-0 lead.
Throughout the game, the Spurs defence were always in control with
captain Natasha Smits and Jenny Hunnable ably supporting the Spurs
midfield with Evelyn Rose brilliant in the holding role in midfield.
Kitty Chapman had a fairly quiet day but came out bravely to smoother
twice in the second half.
Hannah Fenton-Burgess grabbed her fourth of the game midway through the
second half to complete the 6-0 win.
A
similar performance is required next week against Stotfold for the
Whites to make the semi-final stage.

The Under 10 Whites got
their league season off to a flying start with a 9-0 home victory
against Hatfield Youth on Saturday.
Hannah Fenton-Burgess opened the scoring
after just 37 seconds with a low drive past the Hatfield keeper. She
doubled the advantage after six minutes with another well taken goal.
Evie Rose hit Spurs third goal on 11 minutes following a six pass move
through the Spurs team. Winger Tia Fogarty got Spurs fourth after
another searching run down the Spurs right. Captain Emma Lee and
Jenny Hunnable both bagged goals just before the break to put Spurs into
a commanding 6-0 lead.
Spurs continued play
some neat attractive ‘push and run’ football after the break and were
rewarded with another three goals. Hannah Fenton-Burgess scored again to
complete a hat-trick with further goals from Jenny Hunnable and Tia
Fogarty.
Hatfield
Youth gave their all throughout and were much improved on their early
season game against the Blues.

The Under 10 Whites
maintained their position at the top of the HCGFL Under 10 division with
a comfortable 7-0 away victory at Hoddesdon Owls on Saturday.
Spurs were quick off the
mark with Hannah-Fenton Burgess scoring twice in the opening seven
minutes. Tia Fogarty continued her rich vein of goal scoring form when
she put Spurs 3-0 in the 9th minute. Throughout the first
half, Spurs played some good flowing football, building plays up from
the defence, through midfield onto the Spurs attack. Instrumental in
many of the Spurs moves were midfielders Emma Lee and Evie Rose.
Spurs were out the
blocks quickly at the start of the second half when a mazy run by Emma
Lee put Spurs 4-0 up within 37 seconds of the restart. A further
two goals from Hannah Fenton Burgess took her tally to four for the game
and six for Spurs. Tia Fogarty scored Spurs seventh within just
minutes to go.
A good all round
performance by the ever improving Spurs side. Credit to Hoddesdon
Owls for battling all the way and playing the game in a good, sporting
spirit.

The Under 10 Whites maintained their
position at the top of the HCGFL Under 10 Division with a hard fought
4-0 victory over Garston Ladies.
Spurs were
slower off the mark than in recent games and had to be extremely
watchful of a Garston side that were strong on the counter attack.
Spurs had a series of good chances on which they failed to capitalize on
before Hannah Fenton-Burgess went on to put Spurs ahead after 13
minutes.
In the second
half Spurs settled down and played some attractive football, spreading
the play across the pitch and building well from the back. Hannah
Fenton-Burgess went onto bag another three goals to take her tally to 19
goals for the season to date. Final score 4-0.
Garston are a
fast improving side and will trouble many sides along the way through
the rest of the season.

Cup semi-final |

The Tottenham’s U10
Whites progressed to the final of the Chairman’s Cup with a hard-fought
win over their compatriots, Spurs U10 Blues.
Drawn together at this
stage, the teams were unable to repeat last season’s feat of meeting in
the final, but this was a game worthy of a final itself. The Blues had
to ride some early pressure, but hit back with some attacks of their
own.
The Whites settled
into their game and took the lead when Emma Lee hit a low shot past
Ludwick from the left of the area. The Blues keeper made some fine
saves to keep out the Whites, but they doubled their lead before the
break with Isabella Rueben-Crompton hitting a left foot shot home.
Maya Vio was
always a threat up front for the Blues, who fought well to contain the
Whites, but captain Emma Lee sealed a final place for the Whites with a
well-taken second half strike.

The Under 10 Whites
maintained their 100 % league record with an excellent 9-0 away victory
over Watford in the HCGFL on Saturday.
Throughout the game,
Spurs played an attractive passing game with some clinical finishing
through Hannah Fenton-Burgess and Tia Fogarty who both gained
hat-tricks.
The defensive unit of
the side continues to provide a solid base for the team keeping a clean
sheet for the seventh game in a row. Watching Natasha Smits, Jenny
Hunnable and Georgia Sanders play, it easy to forget that these girls
are all Under 10 and they not only defend well, but can build from the
back with goalkeeper Kitty Chapman distributing well at all times.
The central
midfield pairing of Evie Rose and captain Emma Lee provided the driving
force from the centre of midfield throughout and also bagged themselves
a goal each in the process. The versatility of the side could be seen
with Georgia Sanders in a wide midfield position scoring the last of
Spurs nine goals.

Despite a 6-0 victory,
the U10 Whites were made to fight all the way by a very plucky Denham
United Ladies side in the HCGFL on Saturday.
Spurs applied the early
pressure and were slightly fortunate to get a penalty as early as the
second minute when a Denham defender looked to have won a hard, fair
tackle. Isabella Rueben-Crompton stepped up and placed the ball
firmly past the Denham keeper.
Throughout the rest of
the first half, Spurs continued to press forward, but it wasn’t until
just before the break that a brace from Tia Fogarty placed the team into
a solid 3-0 position.
Spurs continued
to play some bright attacking football at the start of the second half
and scored another three goals through Isabella Rueben-Crompton 2 to
complete her well-deserved hat-trick and captain Emma Lee to make the final
score 6-0.
However, without
doubt the best performance on the pitch, came from the Denham goalkeeper
who pulled off some cracking saves and was brave and fearless
throughout.

The Under 10
Whites hit top form on Saturday when they put on a sparkling performance
to beat Hitchin Town Belles 11-0 in the HGFL.
Spurs were a
little bit slow off the blocks and missed a number of good opportunities
before opening their account in the 13th minute through
Hannah Fenton-Burgess. Within a minute, winger Tia Fogarty put
Spurs 2-0 before lightning and rain held the game up for 10 minutes.
On the restart just before half time, Emma Lee added Spurs third goal.
The second
half was all Tottenham pressure, but to their credit Hitchin continued
to defend doggedly and their young keeper pulled off a few valiant
saves. However, the Spurs girls were in probably their best form
of the season scoring a further eight goals through Tia Fogarty (4),
Emma Lee (2), Hannah Fenton-Burgess and Evie Rose.
The team are
strong mentally and physically, but play attractive ‘push and run’
football. Let’s hope this form continues throughout the season.
