Spurs Ladies
Under-10 Whites were at a cold and miserable Fred Knights today to play
host to Denham u10’s.
Tottenham started
off with Lillian Irvine in goal, Isabel Philips and Maisie Ryan at the
back. Fayth James, Sydney Fairs and Shania Mogridge made up the midfield
and Tara Cully up front.
Although the girls
in white had the upper hand throughout the match, a much improved Denham
defended well and it took a lot of goal mouth scrambles before the
unstoppable Tara smashed home after the Denham keeper hesitated to make
it 1-0.
Denham threatened on
a couple of occasions but the Spurs team dealt with anything that came
their way. Mia Farrell, Amelia Shiner and Georgia Keywood came on and
slotted in perfectly. The half finished 1-0.
The second half
carried on the same as the first with Tottenham having chance after
chance and Denham defending with grit and determination. Georgia almost
had her second in successive weeks with a great power shot which banged
against the crossbar. Shania went close on countless occasions but
unfortunately it wasn’t to be her day. Finally Tara put the game to bed
when she beat three players and slotted in with the outside of her right
foot. 2-0
Both teams played
tirelessly till the final whistle and although Tottenham thoroughly
deserved their win all credit must go to an ever improving Denham team.
Manager Mark praised
all the girls for their work rate and on how well they had played, but
player of the match went to Shania who steams up and down the flanks
week after week and never gives up.
Well done girls.
