Spurs Ladies Under-10 Whites were at a cold and miserable Fred Knights today to play host to Denham u10’s.

Tottenham started off with Lillian Irvine in goal, Isabel Philips and Maisie Ryan at the back. Fayth James, Sydney Fairs and Shania Mogridge made up the midfield and Tara Cully up front.

Although the girls in white had the upper hand throughout the match, a much improved Denham defended well and it took a lot of goal mouth scrambles before the unstoppable Tara smashed home after the Denham keeper hesitated to make it 1-0.

Denham threatened on a couple of occasions but the Spurs team dealt with anything that came their way. Mia Farrell, Amelia Shiner and Georgia Keywood came on and slotted in perfectly. The half finished 1-0.

The second half carried on the same as the first with Tottenham having chance after chance and Denham defending with grit and determination. Georgia almost had her second in successive weeks with a great power shot which banged against the crossbar. Shania went close on countless occasions but unfortunately it wasn’t to be her day. Finally Tara put the game to bed when she beat three players and slotted in with the outside of her right foot. 2-0

Both teams played tirelessly till the final whistle and although Tottenham thoroughly deserved their win all credit must go to an ever improving Denham team.

Manager Mark praised all the girls for their work rate and on how well they had played, but player of the match went to Shania who steams up and down the flanks week after week and never gives up.

Well done girls.

The long awaited match between Spurs Ladies Under-10 Whites and Blues was upon us at a freezing Fred Knights.

Since our last encounter the Blues have added players and been hard to beat and today was going to be no exception. The Whites started lively and Tara Cully, who puts fear into every defence she plays against, scored two early goals which shocked a determined Blues team.  Fayth James as usual ran up and down the flanks passing great balls into space without even breaking into a sweat, Shania Mogridge was outstanding on the opposite side fighting tooth and nail for every ball and not giving up, Sydney Fairs - a total terrier in the middle of the field and as brave as can be - made up the midfield, While at the back two of our trusty defenders Maisie Ryan, who really should be nicknamed “The Wall” as it will take something rather special to get through her and Amelia Shiner whose quick feet are often at the start of a Spurs counter.  Goalie Lillian Irvine was alert as usual and week after week is showing great initiative whenever she as the ball.

The Blues had some real fighters themselves and although two goals down continued to press to get themselves back in the game.  Tara went close on quite a few occasions, but the opposition had realised what a threat she was and closed ranks.  Changes were made, which saw ever improving Georgia Keywood take over in the centre, Mia Farrell who can grab you an all important goal at any time on the left and our very own Isabel “Bulldog” Philips came on in defence. The second half was much tighter and there were battles going on all over the pitch, although the match was played in true Spurs Ladies good spirit and showed how high a standard these young and talented girls from both sides have reached.  The match finished 2-0 to the Whites.

Although Manager Mark and Coach Mike were delighted with every player, player of the match went to Maisie who once again was solid at the back and constantly gives all for the team.

This morning saw the Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-10 Whites at a soaking wet Regents Park for our second meeting of the season again Hampstead u10s.

The match was a scrappy affair with Hampstead continuously stopping Spurs usually flowing movement.  Although Hampstead rarely had a chance on our goal, Tottenham made hard work of any chances that came their way.

The girls in white (although due to the mud didn’t stay white for long) tried to play, but was hampered by the heavy surface and the resolute defending of the Hampstead team.

The nearest Spurs got to going a goal up was when the ball seemed to beat the Hampstead goalie and go over the line, but the official didn’t get a clear view and the score stayed level.

This was a match where one goal either way would have nicked all three points, but it wasn’t to be and the match finished 0-0.

Player of the match was awarded to Shania Mogridge who as usual battled hard all game and whose sheer determination shone throughout the 50 minutes.

Well done girls.
