The Tottenham under 11
Blues welcomed Harvesters FC to a cold Fredrick Knights.
The Tottenham girls were
looking to get back on track after suffering three defeats in a row.
The opening whistle blew
and the girls showed their intent by pushing forward at every
opportunity. Emily Stacey playing up front was looking to add to
her impressive goal tally. The midfield of Heidi Yelkin, Charlotte
Cummings and Tayla Jackson worked hard in trying to break down the
Harvesters defence. At the back was Chloe O'Reilly was solid once
again and passed the ball well and did well alongside Maia-Wallace
Loizou, who seems to improve week by week.
The Tottenham girls were
having a lot of possession, but the final ball was letting them down.
As half time approached, for all their possession, the Spurs girls had
only a few clear cut chances that were well saved by the Harvesters
keeper.
Half-time 0-0
Changes at half time saw
Lola Grieve, Lois Pennington, Seren Ahmet and Parris Williams take to
the field.
With the second half
under way, it wasn’t long before the Spurs girls were once again
dominating the match. On the few occasions Harvesters threatened
to attack the reliable defence of Lola and Parris dealt with it well.
With the Tottenham Blues still looking to find a break through chances
fell to Lois, Tayla, Emily and Seren, but it wasn’t going to be their
day. Not their day turned out right as Harvesters broke clear and
a shot from their striker found its way past the Spurs keeper Katie
Phillips.
With around five minutes
remaining Tottenham pushed for the equaliser, but just couldn’t hit the
target.
Final score 0-1
Charlotte Cummings had a
great game today, working tirelessly all over the pitch, tackling well
and passing well, but girl of the match went to Parris, who, for the
second week running was played out of position in an unfamiliar left
back roll. Parris made some great tackles and interceptions. Well
done Parris.

The Tottenham Under-11 Blues
had the Tottenham Under-11 Whites to play this week at Frederick
Knights. The Blues were the away team. With the Tottenham Whites at the
top of the league the girls knew this was going to be a tough fixture.
From kick off the Whites
started well, the Blues had some trouble keeping their shape and it
wasn’t long before the Whites were 2-0 up. Half way through the
first half, the Tottenham Blues seemed to up their game and saw a lot
more of the ball, with Emily Stacey and Tayla Jackson both pressing the
Whites defence.
Lola Grieve and Chloe
O'Reilly at the back were looking more solid, while Charlotte Cummings
and Heidi Yelkin were kept busy in midfield with a quick breaking Whites
team.
Half time came and
changes were made to the Spurs Blues line up with Maia-Wallace Loizou,
Parris Williams, Lois Pennington and Seren Ahmet taking the field.
With the second half underway the Tottenham Blues took an early blow
when the Whites added a third when an unmarked Whites player slotted the
ball past Katie Phillips.
Maia again did well at
the back as did Parris, with Seren and Lois also trying hard, but they
just couldn’t get any break through. Although the girls were
trying hard to get something from the game it wasn’t to be their day. A
saved penalty from the Whites goalkeeper just about summed up the girls
efforts.
Final score 3-0 to the
Tottenham Whites.
Girl of the match went to
Heidi, who showed plenty of determination in all areas of the pitch. Heidi did not stop running and challenging for every ball and was lucky
not to score. Well done Heidi.

The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies
u11 Blues travelled up to the Walkers stadium in Southgate to play
Enfield Town A.
This was the first time the girls had been together since the Christmas
break and with recent weather conditions it meant that the girls had not
trained or played together for a month.
The girls were up against
an Enfield team who are second in the league and had already beaten the
Spurs girls 2-0.
With the game underway it
was a very even match with the Tottenham girls showing plenty of
commitment. Enfield who were very quick on the break were pushing
forward with a lot of support from their midfield but the defending of
Lola Grieve and Chloe O'Reilly were limiting their shots at goal.
The Tottenham midfield of Heidi Yelkin, Tayla Jackson and Seren Ahmet
were full of energy, getting plenty of tackles in and also pushing
forward at every opportunity. Emily Stacey playing up front had a good
few efforts on goal but the muddy pitch meant that getting a good strike
on the ball was hard.
With the match still very
much even, Enfield broke the deadlock with a shot that the Spurs keeper
Katie Phillips could do nothing about.
1-0
to Enfield Town A.
The Tottenham blues kept
their heads up and still battled hard to try and find an equaliser but
once again Enfield broke away and scored a second goal right on the
stroke of half-time.
2-0 to Enfield Town A.
The second half saw some
changes when Parris Williams, Charlotte Cummings, Maia Wallace-Loizou
and Lois Pennington (welcome back Lois) took to the field.
With the second half
underway Enfield were getting on top but Maia and Chloe at the back were
outstanding, Lois tried hard with some good runs down the right, as did
Parris on the left but Enfield were defending well. Charlotte was up
and down the pitch working hard trying to find a break through, but the
opposition were hard to break down. Enfield went on to score a third and
put the game out of the girls reach.
Final score Enfield Town
A 3 Tottenham 0.
Today saw a hard working
performance from the girls considering they haven’t played or trained
together for a month.
A special mention for
Katie, who once again played brilliant in goal. She made some
great saves and her kicking was again excellent.
Girl of the match went to
Chloe who was outstanding at the back, working hard, making some crucial
tackles and certainly letting the opposition know she was around. Well
done Chloe and more of the same next week, please.

The
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-11 Blues welcomed Enfield Town A to a
cold Fred Knights for a league match. Enfield are flying high, second in
the league with a very impressive goal difference, averaging around
seven goals a game.
Tottenham
had a full squad to choose from apart from Lois Pennington who was
missing due to illness (get well soon Lois).
From the opening whistle the game was
very much even with both teams pushing forward. The first real chance of
the game fell to Tottenham when a loose ball fell to Heidi Yelkin who
just couldn’t connect well enough to get a good strike on the ball, the
ball then spun to Tayla Jackson who also just couldn’t get a firm boot
on the ball to stick it away. Enfield were also pushing forward and a
shot that was well saved by the Tottenham goalkeeper Katie Phillips was
followed up by an Enfield player, who accidently landed on Katie
resulting in stud marks on her ankle. Although Katie was in pain she
carried on in goal and went on to make some great saves.
With Enfield
scoring goals every week the Spurs girls knew that the defence had to be
alert and the midfield had to track back to help out the defenders. Lola
Grieve and Chloe O'Reilly at the back were brilliant, they were solid in
there tackles and passed the ball well. Charlotte Cummings in midfield
was again full of running and passing well in both attacking and
defending. Emily Stacey playing alone up front was holding the ball up
well but was getting crowded out by the Enfield defence. With half time
approaching and the score 0-0 the girls were playing well and were
definitely still in the game.
Half-time 0-0.
Tottenham made some changes at
half-time with Parris Williams, Maia-Wallace Loizou and Seren Ahmet
taking the field.
With the second half under way Enfield
were having more possession and getting more chances but again the
defending of Maia and Chloe was standing firm and the busy Seren in
midfield was getting her tackles in, Parris on the left was also full of
running trying to get forward.
An Enfield attack saw a shot from the
edge of the box brilliantly tipped over the bar from Katie, a great
save. The deadlock was broken when Enfield pushed forward and an
unmarked player shot from inside the box to make it one nil.
Tottenham 0 Enfield Town A 1.
Enfield then went on to score a second
when a shot that was going wide, hit one of the Spurs girls on the back,
fell to an Enfield player who tapped the ball in the net to make it 2-0.
Tottenham 0 Enfield Town A 2.
The final whistle blew minutes later
and the girls were out on their feet, having tried so hard to get
something from the game.
Final score Tottenham 0 Enfield Town A
2.
The girls did themselves very proud
today against an Enfield team who won their league last year and are
scoring a lot of goals week in and week out. The whole team gave more
than 100% today and gave the coach encouraging signs for next week’s big
game.
Girl of the match went to Katie who
was once again outstanding. After getting a nasty knock in the opening
minutes she carried on to make some brilliant saves. Well done Katie and
more of the same next week … please !!!

The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies
U11 Blues team had to head up the M1 for an away game against Luton Town
in the HCGFL today.
This week the girls were
without defender Chloe O'Reilly and goalkeeper Katie Phillips, but
welcomed back defender Maia-Wallace Loizou and Lois Pennington from
illness. With a stand-in goalkeeper needed, the Tottenham coach
had to ask the U10 Whites manager to loan a goalkeeper for the day.
Sydney Fairrs volunteered for the job.
From kick off it was an
evenly balanced match with both sides pushing forward. The defending of
Maia and Lola Grieve was once again solid with some great interceptions.
The midfield of Charlotte Cummings, Tayla Jackson and Lois were pushing
forward at every opportunity but also helping the defenders out when
needed. Emily Stacey was again up front. It was pretty much end to end
stuff with both teams coming close but the deadlock was broken when a
Luton Town corner was poorly defended and the ball found its way in the
back of the net.
Luton Town 1 Tottenham 0
Tayla did manage to get
the ball in the back of the net, but it was disallowed for an earlier
foul. With half time approaching the Luton girls were looking more
likely to add another, but two great saves from our loaned goalkeeper
Sydney made sure at half time it was still only one nil.
Changes at half time saw
Heidi Yelkin, Parris Williams and Seren Ahmet take the field.
With the second half
underway and the Spurs girls kicking up hill it was going to be a tough
second half.
Tottenham started well
and took the game to Luton, Emily and the midfielders were now seeing
more of the ball and getting more chances.
The pressure paid off
when Emily received the ball, dodged a few tackles and leashed a right
foot shot into the bottom right hand corner for a well deserved
equaliser.
Seren playing at the back
was brilliant again, full of running and tough in the tackle. Heidi was
also full of running and linked up well with the forward play. Parris
was busy on the left with some good wing play. Luton had only one real
chance in the second half but that was again well saved by Sydney. The
Spurs girls pushed for that winning goal but unfortunately the final
whistle blew and they had to settle for a draw.
Final score 1-1.
Girl of the match went to
our on loan goalkeeper Sydney Fairs, who made a couple of crucial saves
in the first half that kept us in the match and a brave second half save
to deny Luton a second goal. Well done Sidders.

The
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-11 Blues made their way to Southgate to
play Enfield Town B for a mid-day kick off and the girls were once again
looking for a win to push up the league table for third place.
The
Tottenham girls had a smaller squad today due to illness to both Lois
Pennington and Maia-Wallace Loizou.
Conditions
were not great with a cold strong wind blowing across the pitch.
From kick
off, the girls started well with some good attacking football with
Parris Williams on the left Tayla Jackson on the right and Emily Stacey
up front. The defence of Lola Grieve and Chloe O'Reilly were kept
busy with a tricky left winger from the Enfield team. In the
centre of midfield Charlotte Cummings was breaking down any moves the
Enfield girls were trying to create through the middle of the pitch.
The Spurs girls had a number of chances to score, with Tayla, Parris and
Emily coming close. The deadlock was broken when an Enfield Town
defender handled the ball in the area and the referee awarded a penalty.
Emily stepped up and hit the ball in the bottom right corner to put the
girls one up.
Enfield 0
Tottenham 1
On the rare
occasion Enfield attacked, the Tottenham goalkeeper Katie Phillips was
there to protect the one nil lead.
The half
time whistle blew and the girls were a well deserved 1-0 up.
Changes at
half time saw Seren Ahmet and Heidi Yelkin replace Parris and Charlotte.
With the
second half underway the Spurs girls were once again on top. Some
good wing play and crossing from Tayla was finding her team mates well,
but the ball didn’t seem to want to find the back of the net.
Heidi and Seren both had chances but were both denied by the Enfield
goalkeeper. Chloe had a great shot from distance that went just
wide of the post and then a great ball from Lola out of defence found
Seren, who then turned and shot into the Enfield goal to make it 2-0.
Enfield 0
Tottenham 2
The girls
still had more chances to score with some great corners from Emily and
Tayla but the girls just couldn’t get the final touch they needed.
Final score
Enfield Town B 0 Tottenham 2
Girl of the
match went to Tayla who played really well today with some great wing
play, crossing, corners and worked tirelessly all game. Well done.
Also, well
done to Seren who scored her first goal of the season and to Katie who
had a quiet match, with only had two saves to make and her biggest catch
of the day might well have been a cold.

The
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under 11 blues travelled to Enfield Rangers
today after having a break last week as there was no game.
The girls
were looking to get three points today to try and push up the league and
get into the top three.
From the
opening whistle the Spurs girls went forward with Tayla Jackson on the
right side of midfield making a good run and cross that found Emily
Stacey, but her chance went wide. From the resulting goal kick the
Enfield Rangers broke away and a cross come shot found it's way past the
Spurs keeper Katie Phillips.
1-0
To Enfield.
With the
Tottenham girls 1-0 down so early they had plenty of time to reply, they
soon started to get into shape. Lola Grieve and Chloe O'Reilly at the
back were again passing the ball well. In midfield Lois Pennington and
Charlotte Cummings were again working hard to break down the Rangers
defence. Once again, an attack from Enfield saw them score again. Two
attempts on goal and they score both times.
2-0 to
Enfield.
With half
time approaching the Tottenham girls have had about 80 per cent
possession but still could not find the back of the net.
Changes were
made at half time to the Spurs team, hoping that some fresh legs could
finally get a goal back that the girls certainly deserved.
With the
second half under way Enfield were getting back into the game a bit more
but Maia – Wallace Loizou at the back was defending well along side
Chloe. Seren Ahmet, Heidi Yelkin and Parris Williams in midfield were
working hard trying to find that final pass to Emily but the luck was
just not on our side. With the referee indicating five minutes left the
girls were again pushing forward looking for a goal and about two
minutes later that goal came, a corner from Emily found its way into the
back of the net. Game on.
2-1 to
Enfield.
So with
about two to three minutes remaining the girls were hoping to score
another goal and draw level. The final whistle blew as soon as the
Tottenham girls scored, with enough time seemingly left for a late
charge to get something from the game.
Final score
2-1 to Enfield.
The girl of
the match went to Chloe who had her best game of the season so far with
some important tackling and some great passing. Well done.

The Tottenham Under-11
Blues welcomed St. Albans City to a sunny Fred Knights for their HCGFL
match. The Tottenham girls were looking for a better performance
from when they played them three weeks ago when the girls suffered a 2-0
defeat.
From kick off St. Albans
started well and Spurs were finding it hard to get a foot on the ball.
A few chances the opposition had were well saved by Katie Phillips.
Lola Grieve partnered Maia-Wallace Loizou in defence and again Lola was
passing the ball well out of defence to our midfield. Maia was again
making some great tackles that limited the opposition’s chances.
The Tottenham girls first
real chance fell to our midfielder Heidi Yelkin but her shot was just
too high. In midfield Tayla Jackson and Seren Ahmet were also
pressing forward and both had shots blocked. Emily Stacey up front also
had chances, but it looked like one of those days where the ball just
wasn’t going to find the back of the net.
With the Spurs girls
having more of the ball the deadlock was finally broken when a left
footed shot from Emily found the back of the net.
1-0 to Tottenham.
The half-time whistle
blew and it was a well deserved lead for the girls.
Changes at half time saw
Charlotte Cummings, Lois Pennington and Chloe O’Reilly take the field.
With the second half
underway Spurs still looked comfortable in going forward, Chloe’s
defending and her passing to the midfield was both good. Lois was
receiving a lot of Chloe’s passes, which she then pressed forward
looking for that second goal. It wasn’t long before the Tottenham Blues
got it when a poor clearance from the St. Albans goalkeeper fell to
Emily, who made no mistake in striking the ball from outside the box
into the back of the net for her second goal of the game.
2-0 to Tottenham.
The opposition were now
pressing forward, but Charlotte was making her presence felt in midfield
with some great challenges and distribution.
St. Albans pulled a goal
back with about eight minutes remaining and it spurred them on, as Spurs
were now under a bit of pressure.
A break away by the
opposition saw their attacker racing towards goal with just the
Tottenham keeper to beat, but Katie came off her line and saved well.
The final minutes ticked
by and the referee blew for full time with a well deserved victory to
the Spurs girls and a big cheer from the anxious looking parents and
coach.
Final score 2-1 to
Tottenham.
The girls played very
well today. Heidi deserved a goal today and Charlotte played her best
game so far this season. All the girls showed plenty of commitment and
desire to win against a side who often used their size to gain a
physical advantage.
Girl of the match went to
Maia who once again defended brilliantly. Well done.

The Tottenham Under-11
Blues welcomed Denham United to Fredrick Knights looking to get back to
winning ways having lost their last match to St. Albans.
From the kick off the
girls seemed to settle down well, any Denham attack was dealt with by
the back two of Lola Grieve and Chloe O’Reilly. The midfield of
Charlotte Cummings, Lois Pennington and Seren Ahmet were working hard in
defence as well as attack. Emily Tracey up front was also working hard
trying to break down the Denham defence.
The first real chance of
the game fell to Denham when one of their players hit a fierce shot from
distance that was brilliantly tipped on to the bar from the safe hands
of goalkeeper Katie Phillips.
Seren running from
midfield towards goal was brought down by a Denham player which earned a
free kick to the Tottenham girls just outside the box. The Denham
defence took up their positions but it wasn’t enough to stop a great
free kick from Emily, her shot beating the wall and goalkeeper to put
the girls 1-0 up.
The half time whistle
blew with the score 1-0 to the Spurs girls.
The second half started
with Tottenham making four changes to the starting line up. It wasn’t
long before the Tottenham girls got back into their stride looking to
add another goal. Heidi Yelkin did well to find herself with a chance on
goal but was fouled in the penalty area which led the referee to award a
spot kick to the girls. Emily took the penalty which hit the bar, still
1-0 to Tottenham.
Some good work from
Parris Williams and Tayla Jackson in midfield led to the girls getting
their second goal of the match when a through ball from Tayla found
Emily who then shot past the Denham goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
Denham were pushing
forward but once again the defending of Maia Wallace-Loizou was
outstanding. The Denham girls pulled a goal back when a shot from
outside the box took a deflection which left Katie having no chance of
saving. 2-1.
The goal of the match was
a great passing move, Tayla on the right passed to Emily, who then
found Heidi, who went past a Denham player, crossed the ball which found
Parris sliding in at the back post to poke the ball in the back of the
net.
3-1 to Tottenham.
The final whistle blew
and it was a well deserved victory for the girls.
The girls played well
today, Katie in goal was again brilliant in her distribution and all the
defenders did their job well. The midfielders and forwards worked hard.
The girl of the match went to Parris who worked hard in defending and
attacking and also finished with a goal. Well done.

The Tottenham U11 Blues
travelled around the M25 to play against St. Albans. The girls
were looking to get another win under their belt after winning their
last two matches.
Straight after the
opening whistle, the St. Alban girls took the game to the Spurs girls
and had a few early chances which were well saved by the Tottenham
keeper Katie Phillips. Spurs then seem to settle down a bit and
get forward more. Tayla Jackson made plenty of runs forward, as
did Emily Stacey and Seren Ahmet, but the opposition's defence seemed to
deal with everything that came their way. Once again Charlotte
Cummings was in the centre of midfield working hard, linking up play to
the forwards. Any attack that St. Albans had were dealt with by
defenders Lola Grieve and Maia Wallace-Loizou. The game was still
0-0 and end to end stuff, when St. Albans got a corner, which the girls
failed to clear and a shot went through a crowd of several players and
found its way in the back of the net past the unsighted Katie.
The half-time whistle
blew and it was time to make some changes. Chloe O'Reilly came on
to take up her position at the back in place of Maia. Heidi Yelkin,
Parris Williams and Lois Pennington replaced Seren, Tayla and Charlotte.
With the second half
underway, the girls were looking for an equaliser. Lois, Heidi and
Parris were pushing forward, but once again they could not seem to get
any clear cut chances. The much bigger girls of St. Albans were
getting on top and it was not to long before they doubled their lead.
2-0 to St. Albans.
A few more changes to the
Tottenham side after the goal were made, but it just wasn’t to be their
day.
Girl of the match went to
Seren who had her best game of the season so far. She worked hard
all over the pitch showing great energy and determination.

The Spurs Ladies
Under-11s Blues welcomed Whetstone Wanderers to a sunny Fredrick Knights
for their third home game of the season.
After a good performance
last week, the girls were looking to build on that with another hard
working display.
From the opening whistle,
the Spurs girls started well, displaying good passing, good movement and
pressing the opposition into mistakes. It was in the opening few
minutes when Tottenham got their reward for their hard work when Parris
Williams crossed from the left hand side of the box to find Tayla
Jackson unmarked to slot the ball home to make it 1-0.
From the restart, the
Spurs girls once again pressed forward looking to add another goal.
The second goal was added a minute later when Emily Stacey ran at the
Whetstone defence, skipped a few challenges and shot passed their
goalkeeper. 2-0 to Spurs.
When Whetstone did get
forward the Spurs defenders of Lola Grieve, Chloe O'Reilly and the
goalkeeping of Katie kept them from having any real clean cut chances.
The once again hard
working Charlotte Cummings in midfield was playing some nice balls to
the forward players. One pass found Parris on the left who then once
again crossed to find Tayla in the box who scored her second goal of the
game hitting the ball in the back of the net.
Lois Pennington and Seren
Ahmet came on to replace Parris and Charlotte.
Seren in midfield made
herself busy, tackling and passing well, Lois on the left was using her
speed to get past the Whetstone defence and making some decent crosses.
Emily got her second goal of the match when once again a solo effort
found the back of the net making it 4-0.
The second half saw some
more changes with Parris taking over in goal and Katie Phillips having her first
run out on pitch, also Maia Wallace-Loizou taking up her position in
defence in place of Lola.
With the second half
under way the girls still had plenty of possession but the Whetstone
team seemed to be defending that much better. The opposition also got
some breaks but again the defending of Maia and Chloe at the back stayed
solid. Lois on the left who was full of energy broke down the left
hand side and crossed the ball for Katie to smash home the ball in the
back of the net to make it 5-0.
Lois also got on the
score sheet with a well deserved goal when Tayla crossed the ball from
the right and Lois got on the end of it to put it past the Whetstone
keeper. 6-0 to Spurs.
A few more chances on
goal denied Tayla and Emily their hat-tricks, but it was a well deserved
win with the final whistle blowing just after Parris saved a chance from
a Whetstone attack.
A special mention must be
said to Katie, Chloe, Lola and Maia in defence for another clean sheet.
Well done.
Girl of the match went to
Lois. Some great wing play, assists and a goal.

The Spurs Ladies
Under-11s Blues welcomed Luton Town girls to a cold and windy Fred
Knights Sports Ground.
With the girls having
drawn one game and lost one game they were due for a win. From the
opening whistle the girls started brightly, passing the ball well. The
girl’s first real chance fell to Parris Williams, her shot well saved by
the Luton keeper. An attack by Luton ended with a well struck shot, only
to be brilliantly saved by the impressive Spurs goalkeeper Katie.
The defending of Chloe
O'Reilly and Lola Grieve were making sure that Luton were not getting to
many chances. The midfield of Charlotte Cummings, Tayla Jackson and
Parris were working hard in defending and attacking. Emily Stacey up
front had some good movement that kept the Luton defence busy.
The deadlock was broken
when Emily received the ball on the halfway line, charged towards goal
beating off three Luton defenders to drill the ball hard and low into
the back of the net. 1-0 to Spurs.
The second Spurs goal
came when a clever turn from Tayla confused the Luton defence and her
pass found Emily who once again hit a shot from outside the box to make
it 2-0.
The girls were now on
top, defending well and passing well. Any chances Luton had were always
taken care of by the safe hands of goalkeeper Katie. Approaching
half time came Lola’s first goal for the club, and what a goal it was.
The ball came to her on the half way line, she then hit the ball towards
the Luton goal to then see the ball somehow beat their keeper to make it
3-0 to the Spurs girls. A brilliant goal that she will remember for
along time.
Half time.
The second half saw Seren,
Lois Pennington and Maia Wallace-Loizou replace Parris, Lola and Chloe.
With the second half underway the girls carried on with some good
possession. Lois on the left was causing problems with some good wing
play, Seren in midfield made some great tackles and she looked good
going forward making some good passes along side the hard working
Charlotte. Maia at the back once again looked solid making some good
tackles. A great passing move from the girls paid off when the final
ball from Lois found Tayla unmarked in the box, Tayla hit the ball in
the back of the net to make it 4-0. With a few minutes remaining a Spurs
corner found Emily unmarked and the striker scored from a few yards out to complete
her well deserved hat-trick.
This was a great
performance from all the girls who made the watching parents and coach
very proud.
Girl of the match went to Katie
Phillips, who
had an excellent game by making some great saves, her throwing and
kicking was also a major factor in the way the girls got forward and
pressured the opposition.

The Spurs
Under-11 Blues welcomed Hampstead F.C. for their first home game of the
season at Fred Knights.
From the
kick off Hampstead took the game to Spurs, putting them under some early
pressure, but some great defending from Chloe O'Reilly and Lola Grieve
stopped Hampstead from getting any clear cut chances on goal.
The game
then seemed to even out with the Spurs girls getting forward with some
good wing play from Lois Pennington and Tayla Jackson. Charlotte
Cummings in midfield was making herself busy with some good tackles and
passing. The first real shot on goal came from the hard working
Tottenham striker Emily Stacey, who picked up a loose ball from just
outside the box and let fly with a shot that went just wide of the post.
With the
game still even, Hampstead forced a corner which the girls failed to
clear and some how found it's way past the Spurs keeper Paris, putting
Hampstead 0-1 up.
Just before
half time, Emily who battled hard all game, run onto a through ball, but
was denied an equaliser by a good save from the Hampstead goalkeeper.
Half time
0-1.
The second
half kicked off with Charlotte replacing Parris in goal and Maia
replacing Lola in defence, with Spurs looking to attack a bit more, but
neither side created any clear cut chances. Maia Wallace-Loizou at
the back played well with her winning every challenge that came her way
and not letting any of the opposition past her.
A few more
changes on the outfield and the Spurs girls still looking for that
equaliser could not get past their defence. Hampstead then took
advantage of the girls pressing forward and scored a second goal and the
final whistle blew minutes later with the score ending 0-2 to Hampstead.
The girls
should be proud of their non stop running and effort they put in to get
an equaliser. They should now look forward to their next game
where there hard work will surely reward them with a win.
Girl of the
match was Emily.

It was the
first league game of the season for the THLFC girls Under-11s Blues and
they had to make the journey up the A1 for a game against Harvesters.
The
Under-11s Blues had a mixture of Under-10s from last season and some new
signings from the trials, so this being their first game together was
going to be a real test.
From the
starting whistle Harvesters started brightly but some good solid
defending from Lola Grieve and Chloe O'Reilly limited there chances. Lola, making
her debut for Spurs, looked very solid at the back making some timely
tackles.
The girls
then started to pass the ball around a lot better and started getting
forward putting pressure on the Harvesters defence, with Charlotte
Cummings making herself busy in midfield. Lois Pennington and Tayla
Jackson on the wings and
another debutant Emily Stacey up front were stretching their defence and the
girls were getting close to opening the scoring.
Harvesters
too had their chances, but our stand-in goalkeeper Parris Williams made some
crucial saves to keep the scores level.
Approaching
half time the Spurs girls were on top and only the Harvesters goalkeeper
with some outstanding saves kept the score at 0-0.
In the
second half Spurs made some changes with Charlotte taking over in goal
and Parris joining the outfield, Maia Wallace-Loizou replacing Lola in
defence.
With the
second half underway the game seemed more open and it was end to end
stuff, but the deadlock finally got broken when a ball played out of
defence found Tayla, who then passed to Parris down the right hand side,
Parris then crossed the ball to find Emily, who slotted the ball passed
the impressive Harvesters goalkeeper to make it 0-1 to the Spurs girls.
After the
goal the opposition started to put more pressure on the girls but again
some great goalkeeping from Charlotte and defending by Chloe and Maia kept them from
scoring.
With time
nearly up (so we thought), there were still seven minutes left.
In the warm
sunshine, the girls who worked so hard all game began to tire and the
opposition took advantage of this and managed to score with a few
minutes left to level the score 1-1.
With a few
more chances either end, the final whistle blew to end the game all
square.
It was a
great effort from all the girls who should be very proud of the way they
played and they should look forward to the rest of the season.
Girl of the
match was awarded to Lola.
