The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under 11 Blues welcomed Enfield Town B to Fredrick Knights for the Tottenham girl’s last league match of the season.

With blue skies and warm sunshine and a freshly cut playing surface, the conditions were perfect.  The home side were hoping to end their league campaign on a high and put in a good performance to prepare them for a cup semi-final on Thursday.

From the opening whistle the girls started well with Emily Stacey testing the Enfield keeper early on.  The early pressure paid off when about five minutes into the game the deadlock was broken when a pass from Katie Phillips found Heidi Yelkin, who calmly slotted the ball in the back of the net to make it Tottenham 1  Enfield 0.

From the restart the girls kept up the pressure and a corner from Emily found Katie in the box who found space to hit the ball in the back of the net to double the score.

Enfield had still not given up and put some pressure on Tottenham for a while but Chloe O`Reilly and Lola Grieve were once again solid at the back, timing their tackles well and passing well. Tayla Jackson on the right of midfield was again causing problems down the right wing and her hard work paid off when a great ball from Charlotte Cummings which Tayla ran on to, had two touches and then hit the back of the net with a hard low shot.

Tottenham 3. Enfield 0.

Enfield who rarely threatened the Tottenham goal did find themselves in a good position but the shot was well saved by Maia-Wallace Loizou before the half time whistle blew.

The second half produced much the same as the first, with Tottenham creating the better chances and Enfield, not getting any real chances on goal.  Parris Williams playing at the back made some timely challenges and passed well.

The Tottenham pressure paid off again when Emily added a fourth after some good solo work.

Tottenham 4. Enfield 0.

Katie, who was given the strikers role in the last few minutes of the match, got her second of the match and the girl’s fifth to make it a comfortable win.

Tottenham 5. Enfield 0.

Full time.

All the girls did well today, solid defending, the midfield worked hard and the forward play was good.

Girl of the match went to Heidi, full of running, battled hard and got a goal.  Well done Heidi.

This week the Tottenham Under-11 Blues welcomed Enfield Town B to Fredrick Knights for a quarter final cup game.

The Tottenham girls were looking to add another win under their belt to make it three wins on the spin and this week the Tottenham coach had a full squad of ten girls to choose from, unlike previous weeks.

At the opening whistle the Tottenham girls were once again getting straight at the opposition and not letting them play, this paid off as Tayla Jackson run down the right wing to cross the ball to Heidi Yelkin who then passed to Emily Stacey who made no mistake in finding the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Tottenham 1 Enfield 0.

It wasn’t long before Emily got her and Tottenham's second goal when she beat a player on the edge of the box and fired the ball in the back of the net from distance. A great goal.

Tottenham 2 Enfield 0.

Enfield Town were struggling to get in the Spurs half but on the few occasions they did Chloe O'Reilly and Lola Grieve were once again timing their tackles well and clearing any danger.

Katie Phillips in the centre of midfield was once again full of energy and covering the whole pitch, helping out the defence as well as the forward players.

The second half got under way and an attack from Enfield resulted with a Tottenham girl handling the ball in the area and the referee awarding a penalty.  Although the Spurs goalkeeper Maia-Wallace Loizou dived the right way she just couldn’t reach the ball.

Tottenham 2 Enfield 1.

With Enfield scoring it seemed to lift their whole team and Tottenham were now having to work that much harder. Charlotte Cummings and Lois Pennington in midfield were having to work hard as the Enfield team were pressing for an equaliser. The equaliser could have been except a brilliant sliding tackle from Parris Williams stopped the lively Enfield striker getting her shot on goal.

A break from the Spurs girls left Enfield short at the back when once again an individual piece of skill and a great strike got Emily her hat-trick and Tottenham`s third.

Tottenham 3 Enfield 1.

With the girls now 3-1 up they seem to settle down a bit more and pass the ball around better. More chances came their way with Heidi and Katie coming close to scoring.

Tottenham added their forth goal, it was a carbon copy of the first goal Tayla on the right crossed to Heidi, who then just laid it back to Emily who then hit the ball in the bottom right hand corner for her fourth of the game.

Katie added a fifth goal with a brilliant strike from distance that hit the inside of the post and went in. A goal she well deserved.

Tottenham 5 Enfield 1.

With the final whistle just a few minutes away the girls had done a great job and booked themselves into a cup semi-final.

Final score; Tottenham 5 Enfield 1.

A great team effort from all the girls, but girl of the match went to Emily who scored four goals and that now takes her tally of goals to over twenty this season.  Well done  Emily.

The Tottenham Under-11 Blues travelled away for a second successive week after last week winning away to Whetstone Wanderers.  This week it was Denham United for a 2.00pm kick off.  The girls were looking to win for a second week running and with the end of the season not far away, the girls were hoping for a good few last results to push them into the top half of the league table.

Tottenham kicked off and what a great start they got, when, with barely two minutes gone, the ball was pushed wide on the left hand side and with two Denham defenders chasing the ball Emily Stacey managed to hold the ball up well and send in a great cross for Tayla Jackson to control well and hit the ball past the Denham goalkeeper to make it 1-0

Denham 0 Tottenham 1

From the re-start the Tottenham girls were not letting Denham settle, with Katie Phillips bossing the midfield with some great tackling and it was Katie's through ball that led to another chance for Tayla, who unfortunately hit the post.  Denham were getting back in the match with their centre forward getting a few chances and her efforts paid off when she scored an equaliser.

Denham 1 Tottenham 1

Parris Williams and Chloe O’Reilly at the back were now finding themselves under a bit of pressure especially from the long goal kicks but they coped well. Lois Pennington in midfield was again covering a lot of ground in both attack and in defence as it was pretty much end to end stuff.

Half Time.

The second half started with Charlotte Cummings and Lola Grieve taking the field.
It wasn’t long before the Spurs girls added a well deserved second when another great long throw from Chloe found Emily, who ran on towards goal, holding off a defender and hit the back of the net.

Denham 1 Tottenham 2

With the game still end to end a shot from a Denham player through a crowded penalty area found its way in the back of the net to make it 2-2.

Denham 2 Tottenham 2

A chance from Denham nearly got them in front when a high shot from distance looked goal bound until the ever improving Maia-Wallace Loizou managed to grow an extra foot in height and tip the ball on to the post. A great save.

With time ticking by, a back pass from a Denham player looked in no danger until Katie sprinted from nowhere and managed to take the ball from the defender and smash the ball in the back of the net for the winner.

Final score: Denham 2 Tottenham 3.

This was a great performance from all the girls in an exciting match, the defence of Lola, Chloe and Parris was again solid. Maia’s goal kicks were great, all the midfielders worked hard and Emily up front was always looking busy. Girl of the match went to Katie who worked so hard, never gave up chasing and scored a great winner. Well done Katie.

The Tottenham Under-11 Blues travelled up to Barnet to play Whetstone Wanderers for a HCGF league fixture.

The Tottenham side have had a few girls out of action over the past weeks, but this week they only had the one girl out, so it was back to having a near on full squad.

From kick off the girls certainly meant business, putting pressure on the Wanderers and not letting them settle.

The Spurs girls were not long in finding the back of the net when quick thinking defender Chloe O'Reilly launched a long throw over the Whetstone defence which Tayla Jackson ran on to and shot passed the Whetstone goalkeeper.  Whetstone 0 Tottenham 1.

All the girls were playing well and doing their job, Lola Grieve and Chloe in defence were once again winning all the balls at the back and passing well.  Emily Stacey added a second goal when she made some room for herself on the edge of the box and hit a great left foot shot  to make it 2-0.

Charlotte Cummings who scored her first goal a few weeks ago doubled her tally by adding a third when a corner from Emily found Charlotte in the box who then just had to slot it in the back of the net.  Whetstone 0 Tottenham 3.

With all the girls full of confidence and passing well it looked as though they would add further goals in a match they were totally in control of.  Lois Pennington on the left of midfield was working hard and unselfishly, passing the ball trying to get others in on goal. This paid off when she found Tayla on the edge of the box who hit a half volley straight in the back of the net.  Whetstone 0 Tottenham 4.

As half time approached Emily added her second of the match and Tottenham's fifth with a great strike from distance.

Whetstone 0 Tottenham 5.

Half time.

A few changes at half time saw Parris Williams and Heidi Yelkin take the field.

With the second half under way Whetstone were still not giving up and battling hard but the Spurs girls carried on from where they left off and added a sixth goal.

A corner from Emily found Tayla in the box, who then passed it to Lois, who on the turn smashed a great right foot shot in the bottom right hand corner. A great goal and Lois's first league goal of the season.

Whetstone 0 Tottenham 6.

With the game very one sided, the Whetstone girls never let their heads drop and their never die spirit paid off when a rare attack found them scoring past the Tottenham keeper.  The Tottenham keeper Maia-Wallace Loizou had a very quiet afternoon, not like in previous weeks, although she had little to do I'm sure she was enjoying watching the goals go in.  Whetstone 1 Tottenham 6.

Tayla got her well deserved hat-trick when she got the ball on the right wing skipped past three Whetstone players and hit the ball in the back of the net. A great goal.

Whetstone 1 Tottenham 7.

The hard working Heidi who just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net finally got on the score sheet when a pass from Lois sent her clear on goal and Heidi made no mistake in slotting the ball home to finally score her first goal for the club.  Whetstone 1 Tottenham 8.

Girl of the match went to Tayla who worked hard all game and scored a great hat-trick . Well done Tayla.

This week the Spurs Ladies Under-11 Blues welcomed Enfield Rangers to a cold and very wet Fredrick Knights for a league match.

The Tottenham girls were keen to get a result against Enfield as the away fixture earlier on in the season ended with a defeat after a large amount of time added on by the ref.

From the opening whistle the Tottenham girls showed their intent by fighting for every ball and pressing forward in numbers trying to get on the score sheet first (something they haven’t done for a number of weeks).

The Spurs girls were seeing plenty of the ball and their pressure paid off when a Spurs attack ended with an Enfield defender handling the ball and the referee pointed to the spot.

Emily Stacey who previously missed her last two penalties bravely stepped up to take the kick.  A massive cheer from the players and parents alike meant that Emily had scored.  Tottenham 1 Enfield Rangers 0.

From the re-start, once again the Tottenham girls were pressuring the opposition and pressing forward. Lois Pennington on the left and Tayla Jackson on the right of midfield were constantly getting forward trying to add another goal as was Katie Phillips who was playing in the centre of midfield and once again covered a lot of ground throughout the match.

On the very few occasions Enfield got forward they were finding it hard to beat the defence of Lola Grieve and Chloe O’Reilly.  Enfield managed a few shots on target, but for only her second time in goal, Maia-Wallace Loizou was again brilliant with some good saves, catches and distribution.

A few changes saw Heidi Yelkin and Charlotte Cummings take to the field.

With all the girls working hard and passing well their constant pressure paid off when a shot from Emily come off the post, hit the back of the Enfield keeper and found its way in the back of the net for Tottenham's second goal.

Another Tottenham attack saw yet another hand ball from an Enfield defender, another penalty was awarded and once again Emily stepped up and blasted the ball in the back of the net to complete her hat-trick and put the Tottenham Blues three nil up.

Half-time came and the girls well deserved their lead.

With the second half underway the girls carried on from where they left off, passing well and having plenty of possession. More chances fell to the girls with Lois, Heidi, Tayla and Katie all coming close.  With Enfield Rangers pushing forward looking to get a consolation goal, the Spurs girls broke forward and a cross from Katie found an unmarked Charlotte who slotted the ball in the back of the net to make it 4-0.

The girls went on to defend well and push forward in the closing stages to see the game out.

Final score 4-0.

All the team should be very proud of themselves today for showing great determination and spirit. It has been a tough last four to five weeks for them having not won a game and also not scoring.  Congratulations to Charlotte who today scored her first goal for the club. Well done Charlotte.

Girl of the match went to Emily who held the ball up well, passed well, kept her nerve on the penalties and scored a hat-trick.  Well done Em’s.  More of the same next week please.

The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-11 Blues had to travel to Regents Park for an away league fixture to play Hampstead.  The Tottenham girls had only seven players available and some of the girls were playing in positions that were new to them, so they knew it was going to be a tough afternoon.

In the opening five minutes the girls were doing well, matching Hampstead in every department. It was pretty much end to end stuff when a Tottenham attack was halted by a handball in the Hampstead penalty area, the referee pointed to the penalty spot for a Spurs spot kick.

Emily Stacey stepped up and took the penalty but the Hampstead keeper stood strong and managed to parry the ball away, the loose ball again fell to Emily but her follow up shot hit the post and bounced to safety.

That bit of Tottenham pressure seemed to wake Hampstead up and they were the team that were now on top.

Maia-Wallace Loizou playing in goal for the first time saved well from a few long range efforts. The defence of Parris Williams and Heidi Yelkin were doing well under a lot of pressure. The Tottenham midfield of Tayla Jackson, Lois Pennington and Katie Phillips were also working hard in both defending and trying to get forward.

Hampstead, having several corners, finally got their reward when the ball from a corner found an unmarked player who slotted the ball in the back of the net.

Hampstead 1 Tottenham 0

The second half kicked off with the girls still in the game and looking for that goal that may just add some spark to their play. Once again Hampstead took control and had several corners for their efforts.

Although the girls were full of running and determination they just couldn’t break down the Hampstead defence.

The final whistle blew with the Tottenham girls out on their feet having worked so hard throughout the match.

Final score Hampstead 1 Tottenham 0

Girl of the match was a tough one this week so it was shared between Maia and Katie.

Maia and Katie swapped roles this week, with Maia in goal and Katie outfield. Maia did brilliantly in goal, showing bravery and making some crucial saves. Katie on pitch showed plenty of determination and covered probably every blade of grass.

Well done to you both.
