TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LADIES U11 WHITES 1
Home Counties Girl's Football League  - U11 Division 1

A cold but sunny morning at Fredrick Knights saw the first local derby of the season - Spurs Ladies Under-11 Blues taking on Spurs Ladies Under-11 Whites.

The kick off was at 10:35 with the Whites, as the away team, playing in the new white Puma home kit and Blues in their Yellow training kit. The Whites were playing left to right in the first half.

After a very cagey start where neither team wanted to give anything away, the first chance arrived on eight minutes when Gemma Biggadike’s free kick went all the way to the back and skimmed the post. Apart from that chance, the game was passing by with most of the possession being in the middle of the park and not many chances created.

Spurs Whites looked very strong in the first half and always looked comfortable on the ball. Ex Blues player Tegan Burling was playing well and was keeping Gemma quiet and Jessica N'Gunga was not getting many chances up front. The Whites did have a few opportunities to score, but luckily Hannah was equal to them in goal. Poor Leah Grafton  ran so much in central midfield, she was really tired by the half time whistle !

At 11:02 the half time whistle blew and the Blues had not created much, with the Whites having got the better of the first half. There was lack of movement from the Blues and we seemed to be a bit nervous on the ball.

Paul and Ian took the opportunity at half time to remind the girls how good they were and to go out and play their normal game – and to avoid sitting too deep or the Whites would punish us in the second half.

At 11:05,  the second half kicks off. On 31 minutes the Whites broke away at pace from their own penalty area and kept going all the way to the Blues area. All of a sudden it was 2 v 1 on goal and Whites have a great chance to take the lead…. and the shot from the edge of the area flew into the bottom left corner of the net – the deadlock was broken 1-0 to the Whites – a very good goal on the counter attack.

Nine minutes into the second half the Blues finally start to play the good football that we have seen over the last few weeks. Ashleigh Hastings swept the ball out to Jess, who was now beginning to look dangerous. Jess turned well and put herself in, but a Whites defender puts in a fantastic last ditch tackle to thwart her and keep the score at 1-0 .  After the Whites had the greater possession in the first half, the Blues are now taking control of the second half – and now it only seems like a matter of time before we get a deserved equaliser. On 50 minutes Rona weaves her way in and out of three players and takes a shot which sails just wide of the goal. Rona Scarr has been fantastic for us this season and her driving runs forward from defence have been a joy to watch.

Blues are on now on top, but still remain 1-0 down. Next opportunity fell to Alliyah McDonnell, who did really well to get into the penalty box by weaving past a couple of tackles, but her shot was blocked. Just after this, Spurs Whites got a chance to put the game beyond the Blues when another 2 v1 situation arose, but Hannah Grafton made a great save to keep Blues in the match.

With just four minutes left on the clock, and the Blues seemingly looking likely to be defeated, Seren Ahmet got the ball in her own half and ran through to the Whites area and poked a shot which went into the bottom corner of the net for a deserved equaliser.

With just a couple of minutes left a Gemma free kick clipped the cross bar and in the final minute, Jess got through on goal – could she nick a winner for us….. no - the keeper saves.

At 11:33 the final whistle blew and the match had ended 1-1. This really was a game of two halves, The first half belonged to the Whites and the second to the Blues.  Both managers agreed that 1-1 draw was a fair result.

Player of the match was awarded to Hannah Grafton.

Well done to the girls of both teams – some great football was on show today.

QPR U11 A 1
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LADIES FC U11 BLUES 4
Home Counties Girl's Football League  - U11 Division 1

It was our first away game of the season today and the pitch was no disappointment, We were playing at the QPR first team training ground, which up to 4 years ago used to belong to Chelsea.

Spurs, wearing there bright yellow kit started with Hannah Grafton in goal, Seren Ahmet and Rona Scarr just in front of her in defence the midfield was Gemma Biggadike on the right Ashleigh Hastings on the left and Leah Grafton in the middle, with Jess N'Gunga at the top on her own -  and the talent of Parris Williams and Tila Lawton to come on and change the game.

The game got under way at 11:03.  Spurs started left to right, with QPR in there red and black hoops right to left. Spurs started the game slowly and possession was being given away rather easily. But Spurs got the first chance when Gemma shot from the right which the keeper managed to get a foot to.

Another chance arrived on 14 minutes when Rona turned in and out of three players and played Jess through, who shot first time but her shot went wide.

On 23 minutes the ball was kicked against a QPR player and went out   for what everybody thought was a goal kick but the ref gave a corner. The corner was taken and sailed straight to the near post and ended up in the net for 1-0 to QPR.

Two minutes later QPR hit the post from a long shot. It had not been a good half for Spurs.

The half time whistle went and it was 1-0 to QPR.  The second half kicked of at 11:35.  On 27 minutes Gemma’s cross hit the crossbar and five minutes later, Gemma put a lobbed pass into the path off Jess who went  through and smashed it straight into the top left hand corner of the net to make it 1-1.

A minute later Gemma took a corner which, with the help of the wind, went straight into the net for 2-1. Two goals in two minutes and we had turned the game around.

After 37 minutes Jess knocked the ball down to Gemma and in a goal mouth scramble Gemma put the ball in the net to increase our lead to 3-1. On 39 minutes, Jess got herself into the area to smash the  ball into the net for her second and Spurs fourth goal of the game.  Tila and Parris had both came on as subs and both played well.  Seren was winning all the tackles at the back and Rona was making some driving runs from defence into attack.

The full time whistle blew and it was a wonderful second half turn around from the girls who had shown great character to come back so well. Two goals from Jess and two from Gemma.

Man of the match was awarded to Seren, who played well at the back.

Next up is the Tottenham Hotspur Whites.

Come on you Spurs !!!!

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LADIES FC U11 BLUES 1
ENFIELD TOWN U11 2
Home Counties Girl's Football League  - U11 Division 1

A very sunny and warm day at Fredrick Knight football ground saw Spurs Ladies Under-11 Blues pitched against Enfield Town.

The game kicked off at 12:03 p.m. with Spurs playing right to left in their bright yellow kit.  It didn’t take long for the exciting action to start. After just five minutes Jess N'Gunga found herself one on one with the Enfield keeper, but a last minute heavy touch put the ball too far ahead and the attack broke down.  With seven minutes gone Gemma Biggadike picked the ball up in the Enfield half over on the right, and her high cross was met by a Leah Grafton header, which unluckily went straight into Enfield keeper's hands.  A minute later, a Seren Ahmet clearance made its way to Jess on the right, who put in a low cross which nobody could quite reach.

The first goal came on 12 minutes and it went to Enfield Town.  A Town player made a fantastic one-two pass with her team mate, which put their player through at an angle. The Town player finished well into the corner of the net to give the away side the lead.

After 18 minutes, the next opportunity came for Spurs when Leah controlled Hannah Grafton’s goal kick and took a shot which just skimmed the post.  Another chance soon followed for Spurs in the 20th minute when Gemma crossed in for Jess who was in the penalty area. Jess shot first time, but the shot just went  wide.  So many chances for Spurs in this one sided game, yet none of them could be converted.

The half time whistle went and the first half had seen Spurs concede their first goal this season – could they find a reply ?

The second half started and the action resumed.  After 27 minutes Ashleigh Hastings got the ball wide left and played a low cross all the way to Gemma on the other side of the goal, but Gemma put her shot wide. The next chance came on 32 minutes when Jess won the ball in her own half and ran all the way through to the Enfield penalty area with the ball and shot, only to skim the post once again. It's all good stuff, but not resulting in an equaliser.  Another chance soon came when Rona Scarr got through on her own and took a shot which the keeper did well to save.  Spurs can’t believe they are still 1-0 down !  Enfield are only getting the odd half chance on the break. The rest of the time it is all Spurs attack.

Finally, the equaliser arrived on 40 minutes when the ball was bundled into the net from Seren.  Rona put a perfect through ball into Seren's path and she faked the shot and cut inside and finally smashed it into the net for 1-1.

Many more chances come Spurs way within the next five minutes from Seren, Jess, Ashleigh and Parris Williams, but a killer blow came in the last minute, when a hopeful ball is played forward by Enfield Town.  Parris chased the ball back towards Hannah, who rushed out of her goal to make a clearance.  The clearance hit Parris on the knee and deflected to the Enfield forward, who has an open goal to aim for and she slotted the ball into the empty net.

The full time whistle went and it was a devastating late goal to concede, giving us no time to get back into the match. This was the first loss of the Blues season.  It was a very one sided game, which was not reflected in the score line. The Enfield Town manager congratulated the Blues and admitted that his side had been very lucky to have got anything from this game.

Still, that is football for you and the Blues will be back to winning ways soon!

Unlucky girls!

Ian Biggadike

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LADIES FC U11 BLUES 6
QPR U11 B 0
Home Counties Girl's Football League  - U11 Division 1
We arrived at Fredrick Knights on a nice sunny day, perfect conditions for the game ahead and what a cracker this game would be between two strong sides in Spurs U11 Blues v QPR B.  The game kicked off with Spurs playing left to right in their bright yellow kit and QPR playing in their blue and white hoops.

QPR started strong and after just two minutes had a shot that went just over the top of the bar.  On six minutes, Gemma Biggadike put a first time cross over from the right to the back post, which picked out Paris Williams who shot just wide of the goal.  Two minutes later, keeper Hannah Grafton spilled a shot, but gobbled up the rebound just in time to keep the scores level.  Hannah then set up an opportunity on 10 minutes with a nice throw out from her hands, which reached Jessica who put in a low cross for Paris, but her shot was saved.

In the 11th minute, Spurs took the lead with a goal from Jessica, made from a lovely low cross from the right from Gemma which was tapped in to make it 1-0.  Four minutes after the goal, a QPR player has a shot which produced a great save from Hannah and then on 18 minutes, Jessica picked up the ball up on the half way line and took on two players with her blistering pace and stuck the ball in the top right hand corner of the net to make it 2-0 to Spurs.

On 24 minutes with Spurs creating chance after chance, a ball was played out wide to Gemma, who has been at the heart of most of the chances, she took a touch and smashed it into the bottom left hand corner of the net to make it 3-0 and a minute later, Gemma played a perfectly weighted ball in the air to Jessica, who finished on the volley into the roof of the net.  One of the goals of the season already.  The management team and supporters could not believe the fantastic technique that Jessica used to score that goal – and now it was 4-0.

The half time whistle goes and Spurs are 4-0 up and playing with class.

The second half kicked off and with 28 minutes gone, Spurs were already hunting for more goals.  A cross from Gemma saw Jessica head the ball into the keeper’s hands.  In the 32nd minute, QPR had a chance to get on the score sheet when their player went through one versus one with Hannah, but the Spurs keeper managed to save the shot and QPR failed to finish the rebound.  However, this was a warning to Spurs that they must not be complacent.

On 35 minutes Gemma knocked the ball forward and ran with it taking on two players.  She then spotted the keeper off her line and lobbed her from outside the penalty area from a tight angle, another brilliant goal to match the volley from Jessica in the first half.  A minute later Jessica gets through one-on-one with the keeper, who dived at her feet and got a knock to the head.  She was able to carry on and the brave keeper gets a round of applause.

With 38 minutes gone, Gemma took the ball round the keeper and finishes to complete her hat-trick - 6-0.

In the dying minutes of the game, Spurs knew they had secured the points, but this doesn’t stop Seren from making a crunching slide tackle in the box to stop a QPR player from scoring.  She may have got hurt in the process, but it just shows the determination of the girls to keep another clean sheet !

The full time whistle went and Spurs had finished clear winners with a convincing 6-0 win over a good side that beat them twice last season.

The girl of the match award went to the whole team for a brilliant team performance and another win.

WELL DONE GIRLS!!!!  COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR LADIES FC U11 BLUES 6
ENFIELD RANGERS U11 0
Home Counties Girl's Football League  - U11 Division 1

A sunny day at Fredrick Knight Football Ground saw Spurs Ladies Under 11 Blues take on Enfield Rangers in the first game of the season.  The Spurs team were raring to go as they started to warm up.  The game kicked off at 12:30 pm with the Blues kicking from left to right in their new bright yellow training kit.

Spurs started strongly, stringing a few passes together but the first real piece of action came on six minutes when the ball fell to Rona in her own penalty area. She made a defence splitting ball to Ashleigh Hastings, who tucked the ball into the left hand corner of the net to give Spurs a 1-0 lead.  A perfect start. Spurs were beginning to play with real class. On eight minutes, Jess N'Gunga picked up the ball midway in the Enfield half and charged forward with it.  With Ashleigh to her left and Gemma to her right she had a choice of which way to go.  She put a lovely through ball to Gemma on the right who crossed low across the penalty area to find Ashleigh, who converted perfectly for her second and Spurs’ second of the game.

There were plenty more chances that came in the first half. Jess won the ball and shot, which brought out a good save from the Enfield Rangers keeper. The rebound fell to Ashleigh who got to the by-line and cut it back for Jess who just missed.

On 18 minutes, Gemma who was having a great game, ran in from the right hand side and put another perfect low cross for Rona to drill home into the net with power! This was Gemma’s second set up of the game. Now 3-0 to Tottenham and the goals don’t look like stopping any time soon !  Just before half time, Alliyah did some great work to tackle an Enfield defender and run forward down the left.  Jess was overlapping with pace.  She took the ball on, opened her body up and slotted the fourth goal into the net Spurs are really bossing the game now - playing lovely stylish football, most importantly playing as a team.

The second half began as the first had ended. Gemma passed the ball back to Seren in her own half; Seren then ran most of the length of the pitch only to just miss by a whisker.  On 26 minutes, Rona hit a lovely weighted ball into the path of Gemma, who crossed for Alliyah, but her shot hit the crossbar, but nobody managed to get to the rebound.

On 29 minutes Enfield came close to getting a goal -  a lovely individual run from one of there players nearly resulted in a great goal, but Hannah was equal to the shot.  Enfield begin to pile on the pressure but could not score.  On 34 minutes Ashleigh put a cross over from the left which Seren who has made a run all the way from defence, slots in for 5-0. On 36 minutes Jess shot at the keeper and Leah, who had a fine match in central midfield, drilled in the rebound from long distance to make it 6-0.

The full time whistle blew and the final score line is an impressive 6-0 to Spurs Blues.  Lots of goals scored, lots of good passing moves and a clean sheet for Hannah and the defence.

Player of the match, selected by Dom, went to Ashleigh - a great contribution with two goals to her name and a strong performance on the left of midfield, but everyone played well.

WELL DONE GIRLS !!
