The Spurs Ladies Under-11
Whites were made to fight all the way in their 3-1 victory over Garston
Ladies in the HCGFL on Saturday.
It was Garston that took the
lead in only the second minute when a well timed half volley eluded the
Spurs defence. Spurs were soon back on level terms when a powerful
Rachel Hands goal from the right hand edge of the box fizzed into the
bottom corner of the Garston net. Some neat and attractive
football saw a five pass move finished off by Hannah Fenton Burgess five
minutes before the break.
Spurs huffed and puffed a
little in the second half and the Garston goalkeeper managed to block
several good efforts. Garston themselves were always dangerous on the
break but the Spurs defence stood strong. In the closing stages, Hannah
Fenton-Burgess added Spurs third and her second to put the game out of
Garston’s reach .

The Under 11 Whites were
made to fight all the way against a resilient Denham United Ladies
FC before finally securing a 2-0 victory.
Spurs looked the
livelier of the two sides in the early stages, creating a number of
chances that narrowly missed the Denham goal. Spurs eventually
took the lead when a thunderous strike from Tasha Smits from 25
yards whistled low past the Denham keeper.
The second half saw
Spurs continue to pressure, but they were always mindful of Denham's
strong counter attacking. Both sides hit the woodwork before Hannah
Fenton Burgess sealed the victory with a tap-in at the far post
following a strong run down the right by the ever improving Tia
Fogarty.

The Under 11s could count
themselves slightly unfortunate in not coming away with at least a point
as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Enfield Town in the HCFGL.
Spurs had the best of the
early exchanges with the Enfield goalkeeper performing bravely between
the sticks. However, Spurs needed to focus as Enfield produce a series
of good counter attacks. Tottenham were unlucky not be awarded a
penalty in the 20th minute when a Enfield defender handled
with both hands above her head in the box.
In the second half, Enfield
battled hard and scored with a looping shot with 12 minutes to go.
Spurs went close in the
closing stages, but always appeared to be that extra yard off the pace.
Fair credit to Enfield for their victory as they worked hard
throughout.

With the Under 11 Whites
with a bye in the League Cup, a friendly fixture was organized with
Tenterden Tigers, last year’s Kent League U10 champions.
In an entertaining game,
with both sides looking to play attractive attacking football, Spurs
eventually ran out 5-2 victors with Hannah Fenton-Burgess bagging two
goals along with further strikes from Georgia Sanders, Emma Lee and a
penalty from Isabella Rueben-Crompton.

The games between the U11
Whites and Blues are always close affair and this proved no different to
the norm.
The Under 11 Whites started
brightly playing some attractive, free-flowing football. However, much
of this broke down in the last third of the pitch as the Blues defence
closed down quickly allowing only a series of snatched chances.
In the second half, the
Whites continued to apply most of the pressure, but needed to be wary of
the Blues quick counterattack play. The Under 11 Whites were
thwarted by two fantastic saves by Blues keeper Daniella Charles midway
through the half. However, with six minutes to go, Spurs won a
free kick outside the box. The ball came through a melee of
players for Hannah Fenton-Burgess to score to give the U11 Whites the
narrowest of 1-0 victories.

The THLFC Under 11 Whites played some of
their best football of the season when they defeated Garston Ladies 6-0
in the HCGFL on Saturday.
From the start played some neat
attractive build up football but were thwarted by a dogged Garston
defence in opening the stages. The opening goal came from a
Isabella Rueben-Crompton corner that was unfortunately diverted into
their own goal by a Garston defender. Just before the break,
Rachel Hands scored Spurs second goal.
Spurs came out on fire in the second half
especially Tia Fogarty who bagged a magical hat-trick. Hannah
Fenton-Burgess was Spurs other scorer.

The THLFC Under-11 Whites were involved in a
tight 0-0 draw with Denham United Ladies in the HCGFL on Saturday.
On an extremely small pitch, both sides
found it hard to find space to play free flowing football. Both
sides went close on a couple of occasions, but it was the defences of
both sides that came out with credit as they both held out strongly
through the game.

When Luton Town and Spurs get together in
this division, you know that you’re going to get an open game of
attacking football, but it was Spurs who came out 5-1 winners.
Spurs gained an early grasp on the
midfield zone through Isabella Rueben-Crompton and Emma Lee and
neutralized Luton’s attacking force bar the final ten minutes.
It was Isabella Rueben-Crompton who was
the star of the show with two great goals and a further assist in Rachel
Hands' goal. Tia Fogarty continued her rich vein of scoring with
another two goals.
A great team performance by the Spurs
against a Luton side that didn’t fire on all cylinders on this occasion,
but will chase Spurs right to the end of the season for the U11
Championship.

Spurs Ladies
Under 11s reached the League Cup final for second year running with the
tightest of 1-0 victories of Luton Town Belles on Saturday.
Luton started the brighter of the two
teams and if it wasn’t for several fine saves by Kitty Chapman in the
opening 15 minutes, Spurs could have been two or three goals down.
Spurs then started to gain some composure and took the lead after 18
minutes with a wonder strike from 25 yards out from Jenny Hunnable.
In the second half, Luton were awarded a
penalty, which, fortunately for Spurs, was put wide of the post.
The rest of the game saw Spurs defend well and counter attack swiftly on
the break.
Manager Glenn Weaver said, “The essence
of this game was the solid defensive performance by the whole of the
team throughout. Luton were excellently in the opening stages but we
stuck at it. As always, I extremely proud of my team and look
forward to the final against Enfield Town”.
