Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U12 4
Hemel Hempstead Town U12 A 0
Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1
After a weeks break the girls returned to their winning ways, against Hemel Hempstead who always give Spurs a good game.

The girls went on the attack early on with Bobbi Cubberley delivering a good pass through to Tori Tripp, who sped off down the left hand side and crossed to Ruth Collett, whose shot went wide on this occasion.  Tottenham then switched the play to the right and Charlotte McLucas with Bobbi and Laura Newby were keeping the Hemel defenders busy.  It was a midfield battle with all the girls getting involved.  Hollie Watson was just about to pull the trigger on a shot outside the area, when it was blocked by a Hemel defender.

Tottenham weren’t having it all their own way however and Lily Tyrimos was called into action fairly on from a long range shot which she comfortable gathered.  There was some excellent defending by Tianna Carrington and Vicki Blake in the middle of defence to keep Hemel under control, with Libby Lovick and Saskia Collins controlling the flanks.

Tori once again burst down the left with her lightning pace and crossed the ball into the box; unfortunately no one could get on the end of it.  A minute later Tori was having a long range at goal with her left foot which went wide of the mark.  Ruth also had a go and her shot was well saved by the Hemel keeper.  Bobbi and Tori were creating some excellent passing moves on the left between themselves which were a pleasure to watch.  The Tottenham defence was still busy however with Libby battling away on the right and Saskia darting around on the left.  The centre as always was being marshalled by Vicki and Tianna.  Lily was comfortable in goal collecting any long range shots.

Spurs broke out from defence and Hollie produced a lofted ball for Ruth to run on, with a one on one with the keeper, unfortunately she couldn’t quite capitalise on the opportunity.  Just when you thought the ball would never find the back of the net, Hollie once again looked up and drilled a through ball onto the feet of Tori who was running at full tilt and this time she smashed the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0 after 15 minutes.

Charlotte was charging down the right hand side of the pitch and keeping the defence very active.  Vicki pulled off some fantastic individual defending by chasing an attacker back and then taking the ball off her feet and charging back towards the Hemel goal.  Libby was also having a go following a corner and smashed the ball into the side netting.  Lily pulled off another save and Tori and Bobbi continued to dazzle down the left.  It was very nearly two nil just before half-time when the Hemel keeper saved a shot on the line from a corner.

Tottenham started the second half brightly with Laura making the keeper dive on a strongly struck shot.  Hemel Hempstead broke and threaded a through ball which Lily pounced on.  Ruth had a shot which went wide, but Laura raced after it and pulled the ball back into the area, she smashed the ball towards the goal and the keeper stopped it, but it bounced out of her hands into the path of Tori who struck it again and once again the keeper parried it away, straight to Laura who drilled it into the back of the net to make it 2-0 after five minutes of the re-start.  Hemel weren’t giving up however and Lily comfortable cleared a ball in front of goal.  Bobbi had a shot which was saved by the keeper and Hollie produced a couple of good through balls which were a judged to be off-side.

Tianna was magnificent in defence using her pace and skill to keep the opposition at bay.  The third goal came when Tori struck a great ball on the left hand side which hit the cross bar and bounced down, Ruth was there like a flash and tapped the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0 after 46 minutes.

Shoshana Field was battling hard in the midfield and Charlotte continued to make charging runs down the right.  The action switched to the other end and Tianna was battling with an attacker in the penalty area, when the referee suddenly blew his whistle.  Penalty to Hemel Hempstead.  Lily looked so small in the goal, but she managed to save the penalty to the cheers of her team mates and supporters.

Laura was proving to be a handful for the defence down the right and produced another great cross into the box, which Bobbi managed to get on the end of and make it 4-0 after 54 minutes.  A few minutes later Laura once again crossed the ball into the box and Marva Kreel battled hard to win a corner for her team mates.  Bobbi delivered a well timed pass to Shoshana who had found space in the box, but couldn’t quite get her shot away on this occasion.

Saskia was called into action at the back as Hemel pushed forward and managed to put their attacker off her stride before unleashing a fierce shot.  Hemel were throwing everything at Spurs with Tianna, Vicki and Libby all called upon to clear the ball and Lily pulled off a great save from a point blank situation.

The game was end to end with Tori also having a shot which wide.  Spurs remained strong and the final whistle blew.  The girls had played really well and whilst a number could have been picked as player of the match, the accolade went to Tori who did ever so well this week.  Well done to all.

After the match the girls were trying the new kit and the rumour is that Gerry is going to spend the next week darning socks, sewing up shorts and ironing numbers on the back of the new shirts !!

Stevenage Borough Vixens U12 0
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U12 9
Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1
The girls started very slowly in this game and were finding it difficult to get to grips with the smaller sloping pitch.  Stevenage were doing a good job at holding the Spurs players back and it was very much a midfield battle.  Ruth Collett had a shot that was blocked and the Stevenage replacement keeper was certainly a lively character.

Charlotte McLucas pushed down the left and Tori Tripp had a charge down the left but couldn’t quite get the cross away. The girls were bunching and finding it difficult to string too many passes together.

The break through came from Hollie Watson who had pushed up from defence on the right to just outside the area, the ball came out to her and she produced a very well struck shot that beat the keeper and nestled into the back of the net on the left hand side, to deliver her first goal of the season.  So 1-0 after 10 minutes.

Bobbi Cubberley was starting to find some space on the left and she produced a very good cross, which just saw Laura Newby offside.  Tottenham were now starting to break the Stevenage defence down and Ruth had a shot which was saved, which was quickly followed by a shot from Tori which was also well saved by the keeper.  Tianna Carrington at the back was battling hard unfortunately injured her foot and had to go off.

The Spurs defence were called into action with Vicki Blake clearing the ball and Hollie making sure on the right.  Libby Lovick made some good clearances and Saskia Collins was battling away on the left.  Lily Tyrimos had to be quick off her line and clear the ball away and a moment later made a good save from the striker running in on the Spurs left.

The Stevenage keeper was also very busy running out at pace to deny Laura the ball and then scramble the ball away from a well struck corner by Bobbi, the ball was banged in again and it was pushed out to Bobbi on the right who smashed the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 after 22 minutes.  Stevenage were now on the back foot and this time the keeper coming out quickly didn’t work as Ruth skilfully chipped the ball to make it 3-0 after 23 minutes.

The next goal was another first and this time it fell to Shoshana Field who blocked off the keeper’s kick out and saw the ball fly into the back of the net to make it 4-0 after 24 minutes.  Tottenham were still pushing forward with Ruth passing to Amy on the right and her well struck shot hit the post.  Another goal mouth scramble after a corner but no joy.  Amy had a shot that went wide and then had a shot which went like a bullet towards goal, but somehow the keeper made a brilliant save to deny Amy.

Shoshana however wasn’t finished and she brilliantly chipped the keeper to make it 5-0 just before half time.

The girls came out of the blocks quickly in the second half and Bobbi had an excellent shot saved by the keeper but it fell to the feet of Ruth who put it away to make it 6-0 after 31 minutes.  Charlotte had a shot blocked soon afterwards and there was some good passing moves between Amy and Ruth on the right.  Shoshana had a shot that went wide and Tianna cut out a few long balls very well.

To be fair to Stevenage, they continued to battle away despite the score line and Lily had to make a very good save from close up.  Vicki pushed nicely out from defence and delivered a good ball to Tori, who was just beaten by the keeper coming out at pace, to force a corner.  It was taken and a goal mouth scramble started which resulted in Shoshana hitting the side netting.

Shoshana’s hat-trick however came sooner after, when she struck the ball firmly within the area, it hit the underside of the cross bar and went in so 7-0 after 45 minutes.

The Spurs defence still kept their wits about them with Hollie covering back to clear the ball away.  Still Tottenham pushed forward and Tori had a good shot go wide.  Charlotte smashed the ball at the goal and the keeper made a good save, but dropped the ball and Tori danced round her to slot it away for 8-0 after 50 minutes.

The girls weren’t finished and Bobbi saw the keeper was off her line so she chipped the ball over from distance, it bounced unfortunately too high and sailed over the cross bar.  This was followed a moment later by a strike from Amy which saw the crossbar take a full impact and the ball bounce away.  Probably the best move of the game came when Vicki darting out from defence and then she drilled the ball to Tori, who crossed it to Bobbi to put away neatly and make it 9-0.

Still Stevenage didn’t give up and Saskia and Hollie were defending with Vicki and Libby and Lily got called on once again to deny Stevenage and keep another clean sheet.  Towards the end Tianna had a shot from midfield and the keeper saved it. The Stevenage keeper had played ever so well and if it wasn’t for her saves and her sweeping technique at the back the score would have been much higher.

Full credit should go however to Stevenage who never gave up and battled on regardless. Player of the match went quite rightly to Shoshana for her hat-trick in her first full game of the season. Well done.

I hope everyone got home safely, as the trees and fields all start to look the same after a time and nothing like Tottenham !!

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U12 5
Belmont United U12 1
Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1
A crisp morning brought a crisp performance from the Spurs Under-12s in defeating Belmont UNited 5-1 at Fred Knights.

The girls made an electric start to the game.  I was just getting my pen and paper out, when they kicked off and the ball was pushed through to Charlotte McLucas, who ran down the right and had a shot towards goal which the keeper failed to hold and Ruth Collett, who was following up, banged the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 after about 20 seconds.

Spurs were passing the ball around very nicely between the midfield of Bobbi Cubberley, Ruth, Amy Woff and Charlotte, with the defence of Vicki Blake, Tianna Carrington, Hollie Watson and Saskia Collins also joining in and Laura Newby making some space up front.

Charlotte made another good charge down the right and Hollie was standing up strongly down the right hand side of defence, delivering some well timed passes up to Laura up front. Tottenham won a corner and Charlotte floated the ball into the box, Bobbi was on it in a flash and generated a well struck half volley into the back of the net for 2-0 after eight minutes.

Belmont however were getting more into the game and Laura wasn’t afraid to get back and defend were necessary. Goal number three came when Bobbi produced an excellent cross to Tori who smashed the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0 after 10 minutes.

The girls were still in control however, despite Belmont pushing forward and the defence of Vicki and Tianna with Hollie on the right and Saiska on the left were dealing with the pressure.

Tori was creating some space down the left hand side and delivered a good ball to Bobbi who was only stopped from shooting by some good Belmont defending. Charlotte delivered a good ball to Ruth, whose shot just went wide of the post.

Once again Bobbi was in the thick of the action when she delivered a superb through ball to Ruth who smacked the ball into the goal to make it 4-0 after 15 minutes.

Belmont however didn’t give up and Lily Tyrimos had to be quick of her line to cover a searching ball. Saskia delivered a good ball to Amy whose very well struck shot went like a bullet over the cross bar. Tori then had an opportunity and this time the keeper made a very good save as she stretched up high to stop the ball.

Hollie was cutting out the ball down the right hand side time after time and was delivering some well weighted passes out to her team mates up front. Still Belmont came at them but the girls stood firm, with Libby Lovick also joining the defensive team and Lily was making sure that nothing got passed her.

One of the last moves of the first half saw a long ball drilled forward by Hollie up to Ruth who was running at speed towards goal as was the keeper, who managed to dive on the ball first.

The second half started and you just knew that Belmont would be more of a handful and so it proved to be. However the first attack came when Amy had a free kick which saw the ball run through to the keeper who had quickly come off her line. This was followed a few minutes later by Bobbi’s shot which unfortunately went straight to the keeper.

Belmont were pushing forward and Saiska and Tianna had their hands full on the left hand side. Lily saved a shot from distance and play continued.

Shoshana Field was battling away down the right Bobbi produced another good pass forward and Tori’s shot was deflected away from the goal by a defender.  Tori was getting stuck in down the left and was battling hard to make sure that she won the ball time after time.

Tianna with her blistering pace was also covering down the left and made some very timely clearances to keep the danger away. Tori broke forward once again and not for the first time the keeper was out like a flash and bravely dived on the ball to deny Tori a certain goal.

Amy had a shot which was blocked off by a defender and Shoshana couldn’t quite get her shot away from the rebound.  Still it was end to end stuff and Vicki made some excellent interceptions with Hollie patrolling the right hand side.

Bobbi showed some excellent individual skill with a back heel to Tori who ran on down the left and caused the keeper to make another save.

Amy made a run down the right and from a very tight angle tried to deliver the ball into the back of the net, it basically beat the keeper and ran along the goal line, hitting the far post and out, the ball then was pushed back in again and finally it came out to Marva Kreel who delivered it neatly into the back of the net to make it 5-0 with ten minutes to go.

Still Belmont didn’t give up and they had a cross down the Tottenham left which whistled across the goal mouth and finally they broke through on the left and delivered a well timed ball to the striker who took it well and it went under the body of a diving Lily.

Tottenham weren’t finished with attacks however and Amy had another shot which the keeper saved and unfortunately Shoshana’s kick from the rebound found the keeper again.

The girls had played really well, with the quality of the passing in the first half probably some of their best so far this season. There were a couple of personal bests in the match, but Bobbi stood out for her run rate and the number of goals that she participated in, one way or another. Well done to all.   .

Whilst it was a clear bright day, it had been raining over the last few days, so the girls got that sinking feeling when they finally got on the right pitch.

Bobbi Cubberley took an early free kick which fell to Amy Woff in the box, whose resultant shot was well saved by the Garston keeper who was in for a very busy afternoon. The girls then won a corner and Bobbi floated in a lovely ball which was half cleared out to Amy who buried it in the back of the net to make 1-0 after three minutes.

Laura Newby then got into the action and had a shot saved by the keeper.  Bobbi took another corner on the Tottenham left and she was causing havoc in the Garston goal mouth, with the ball being scrambled away.

Tottenham were constantly pushing forward and the ball fell to Laura on the edge of the box, she took aim with her left foot and floated the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 after 6 minutes. Still Spurs drove forward and Laura had another shot blocked.

Tottenham had now well and truly pitched their tents in the Garston half and Charlotte McLucas sped down the right hand side, producing a great cross into the box, which unfortunately no one could get on the end off, on this occasion. Garston were  trying to break out of their half, but they ran into a brick wall in the shape of Tianna Carrington, Vicki Blake, Hollie Watson and Saiska Collins who were dealing with anything thrown in their direction.

Charlotte had a long shot from outside the area, which was saved by the keeper and still they came forward with Tori Tripp exploding down the left hand side, looking for an opportunity. Her chance came and Tori blasted the ball at the goal, which the keeper once again saved.

The girls were attacking at will and Charlotte produced another blistering run down the right in very muddy conditions and crossed the ball brilliantly, Tori was so nearly there at the far post and just missed it by a fraction.

The defence were pushing up further and further and Vicki had a shot which was saved by the keeper from distance. The girls remained vigilant however and Hollie ensured that nothing broke past the defence, clearing the ball out when necessary. Tori was full of tricks down the left with Bobbi, showing great ball skills on the left and centre. Tori pushed the ball through to Laura who was just beaten by the keeper. This was followed by another attack led by Charlotte on the right she produced another super cross after a great run and Tori’s shot was tipped off for a corner. The corner came in and Tori had another shot pushed off for a corner by the keeper.

Gerry the Manager then decided to change the formation at the back to make it even more attacking with 5 in midfield and 3 at the back. The girls forged forward and Laura drilled the ball to Ruth Collett whose shot was saved by the keeper, who pushed it off for a corner. The ball came into the box and was kicked out to Amy, who crossed it back into the box to find Libby Lovick who had only just come on, neatly put the ball into the back of the net to score her first goal of the season. Well done Libby, so 3-0 after 25 minutes.

The girls continued to battle away, with Tianna using her speed at the back and Laura taking on a number of players on the right. Charlotte produced another fabulous cross on the right and Tori, so nearly steered it into the back of the net at the end of the first half.

The girls started the second half brightly and Bobbi had an early shot at goal, which was saved. Ruth got in on the act as she saw her shot whistle passed the post. It wasn’t long however for Shoshana Field to make her presence felt when she blasted the ball into the back of the net to make it 4-0 after 34 minutes.

This goal was quickly followed by a sublime 30-yard pass from Hollie to Ruth, who ran on to it and was one on one with the keeper and coolly stroked the ball into the back of the net, making it 5-0 after 35 minutes. It was so nearly followed by a goal from Marva Kreel who cleverly beat her player on the right and saw her shot just hit the side netting.

Tottenham were now all over Garston who played with nine players behind the ball for most of the game. Tori produced a nice pass to Shoshana on the edge of the area and she let fly with a strongly struck shot, which smashed against the cross bar and fell to the feet of Bobbi who drilled the ball into the back of the net to make it 6-0 after 40 minutes.

The defence did have to keep their wits about them and Hollie was strong on the right, with Vicki chasing a player back and clearing the ball away from danger.

The girls were quickly back up the other end and Shoshana had a shot saved from a goal mouth scramble , with Tori’s shot saved by the keeper and pushed off for a corner. The corner was floated in and Amy had a shot once again saved by the keeper.

There was a great move down the left by Tori who passed the ball to Amy, whose shot was punched away for a corner. The ball was delivered into the box and cleared out to Tori on the edge of the area, who blasted the ball at the goal, the keeper saved it, but couldn’t hold it and Bobbi darted forward to smash the ball into the goal and make it 7-0 after 45 minutes.

After the kick off the ball came to Hollie who drilled a pass to Amy who delivered a great through ball to Tori, with her shot just going wide. The next move saw Laura pass to Marva who flicked the ball onto Amy, who placed a lovely ball into the top right hand corner with her left foot and making it 8-0 after 46 minutes. The girls were now on fire and Laura produced a great ball to Bobbi who thumped the ball into the goal, securing her hat-trick and so 9-0 to Spurs. This was followed a moment later when Amy ran from the midfield, across the left hand side of the goal and blast the ball into the net to make it 10-0 and very good individual effort. One of the biggest cheers came when Lily Tyrimos came out of goal and collected the ball for her first touch of the match.

The girls weren’t quite finished and the final goal came when Ruth passed the ball onto Shoshana who cracked the ball into the goal making it 11-0 and the highest score achieved this season.

The ground wasn’t easy to play on, but the girls stuck to it!! Literally!!

Player of the match went to Charlotte who had worked tirelessly and had some made some fantastic runs and crosses during the game. Well done all.

I know that all the Mums (and Dads of course!!) love doing the washing after all the matches and it’s great that we have got a kit that doesn’t show the dirt much!!

Home Counties Girl's Football League Cup - Group C
So the first stage of the League cup arrived and as defending champions the girls were keen to make an early impression on the competition.

The girls started very brightly and pushed forward immediately, Laura Newby broke through the defence, and the keeper couldn’t hold the ball and Laura managed to bang the ball into the net within 30 seconds, what a start !!

A moment later Laura had another shot at goal, which this time just went wide.  Amy Woff had a shot which was well saved by the keeper.  Hollie Watson produced a good long pass to Tori Tripp who sprinted off down the right and was causing problems for the Enfield defence who had been rocked by the quick goal.

Charlotte McLucas produced a super run down the right and crossed the ball in to Amy, who sweetly volleyed the ball into the goal to make it 2-0 after only four minutes.  Still the girls pushed forward and Bobbi Cubberley had a shot which was saved by the keeper who was growing in confidence.  The Enfield defence were under siege and they managed to scramble another attack away, with Laura breathing down their necks.

Goal number three came after 10 minutes and was a lovely strike from Bobbi on the left, who belted the ball from just inside the area, with her left foot and the ball flew into the back of the net.

Tianna Carrington with Vicki Blake, Saiska Collins and Hollie were defending well and basically had pushed up to the half way line, such was the dominance of the Spurs game.  Enfield were trying hard but couldn’t break out of their own half, so were having to defend very deeply.  Charlotte had a long range shot from the middle of the park which went over the cross bar and Tianna was putting her speed to great effect at the back, making sure that no one broke through.

Hollie pushed up from defence and had a shot from outside the area and just went wide of the post with Shoshana Field very nearly getting on the end of it on the left.

From the goal kick, Tori was on the ball in a flash and stroked the ball past the keeper to make it 4-0 after 15 minutes.  The girls were still pushing forward and a good run from Amy saw her one on one with the keeper, unfortunately she couldn’t slot the ball away on this occasion and the keeper made a good save.  Tori was showing her speed down the right and produced an excellent cross, which the keeper managed to keep hold of, despite a great deal of pressure.  The girls won a corner shortly afterwards and Charlotte drilled the ball to Amy just on the edge of the area on the right and she smashed the ball into the back of the net at pace to make it 5-0 after 18 minutes.

Tori produced another outstanding cross soon after which Amy volleyed but this time it was headed off for a corner. Spurs were totally dominating the game and Laura had a shot which was saved by the keeper and Marva Kreel who had come on also had a shot saved on the left.  Lily Tyrimos in goal hadn’t touch the ball once in the first half apart from when following a re-start the ball was passed back to her.

Now I must apologise for the start of the second half, because for the first 10 minutes, I was queuing at the refreshment hut and I was struggling to see what was going on.  It’s always the way when ever you are in a hurry you always find someone in the queue in front that suddenly decides that they want to buy up everything and also pick the most time consuming items to purchase.

Anyway back to the football, what I could just about see is the girls still camping themselves in the Enfield half, with Amy pushing forward and Tori having a shot following a long ball from Hollie.

Libby Lovick was busy in the middle of the park and suddenly Tori broke through the middle, whilst the keeper came out she didn’t have the ball under control and Tori pushed through to tap the ball into the net and make it 6-0 after six minutes of the re-start.

Enfield however were playing with more passion and they started to break into the Tottenham half a couple of times, which was the first time in the match.  Hollie however made sure that they didn’t progress too far on the right and Saiska was battling away down the left, with Vicki patrolling the middle.

The girls were still keeping the Enfield goalie busy and she made two good saves one after another.  Tianna had a shot that was parried away by the keeper for a corner.  Tori had a shot that was saved by the keeper and another shot which saw an open goal, but unfortunately the ball just went wide.

Vicki was very strong in the middle of the park and the midfield was a very busy area.  Whilst Spurs had most of the possession, they weren’t able to find the break through and Enfield were doing well to defend with everyone behind the ball.  Amy had chance on the right; unfortunately, the shot went straight to the keeper who held onto to it well.  Hollie had a well struck shot which shot across the face of the goal and Marva got on the end of it, but the ball just hit the side netting.

The keeper made a good save under pressure from Laura and she then made a couple of brave saves when she had Tottenham players bearing down on her.  Lily came on as she had been replaced by Shoshana in goal, who once again had very little to do indeed.

Despite the pressure Tottenham had applied, Enfield played very well in the second half and managed to contain the game.  Spurs had played well in the first half, but failed to make their dominance count in the second, nevertheless it was a good result overall. Well done.

The last match of 2006 saw Spurs U12’s playing a friendly against Redbridge who are currently third in the Essex South League. Unfortunately Tottenham were missing 4 of the team either to illness or prior commitments, but Tia Fogarty from the U10’s team very kindly joined the team today.

Spurs got stuck in straight away and Amy Woff was one on one with the keeper, unfortunately her shot went wide of the post. Charlotte McLucas charged down the right and her shot went wide of the left hand post.

Tottenham were seeing a lot of the ball and they won a corner.  Charlotte drilled the ball into the box and Tia brilliantly got on the end of it and buried it in the back of the net to score her first ever 11-a-side goal after five minutes.  Well done.

The girls won another corner soon after and Bobbi Cubberley floated the ball into the box, which this time Ruth Collett got hold of and her shot just went wide of the mark.  Charlotte broke again from mid-field and drove through to the box, letting fly with a shot which went wide of the target.

Shoshana Field was playing right of defence and she delivered a great long ball through to Tori Tripp whose shot was well saved by the keeper.  Shoshanna was then called into action defending and kept the opposition at bay.

Bobbi and Tia were linking up well on the left with some good passes and Saskia Collins  was mixing it up on the left hand side of defence.  Ruth had a shot from a goal mouth scramble, but still the girls couldn’t find a way through.  Hollie Watson produced a long pass out to Tori who only had the keeper to beat, but unfortunately the ball went over the cross bar.

Suddenly Redbridge broke down the Tottenham right and delivered the ball into the box and the ball was struck against the post it came out and a goal mouth scramble ensued and despite efforts by Tianna Carrington and Hollie, the ball ended up in the back of the net after it was smashed off the cross bar.

Spurs however were straight back up the other end and a ball was delivered into Amy by Tianna and she found herself with just the keeper to beat, the keeper did well to come out a close the angle down and she saved the resultant shot.  Tia broke down the left and crossed the ball to Tori, whose shot just went wide of the post.  Ruth finally found the back of the net after 20 minutes to make it 2-1.  Ruth was then involved in passing to Amy whose shot was well saved by the Redbridge keeper.

Lily was called into action after the opposition broke through on the left and she came out to narrow the angle and save the shot. Redbridge were pushing forward more and Hollie and Tianna remained very strong in the middle of defence despite the pressure. Amy broke down the right and let fly with a strongly hit shot on the right which was once again saved by the keeper. Ruth produced a good pass out to Amy, whose shot was saved and Hollie produced a good long ball to Amy, whose shot was once again saved by the keeper. The girls should have been six or aeven ahead in the first half but due to some good goal keeping and lack of luck it was only 2-1.

Tottenham came out for the second half fired up and were quickly into the action with Tori drilling the ball across the box. The Redbridge keeper was clearing the ball away from possible breakaway moves. Tori had a shot which was parried off for a corner.

Amy's patience finally paid off as she made it 3-1 within five minutes of the re-start, from within the area as the ball was buried in the corner of the goal.  She was quickly followed by Tori who then buried the ball from a strike in the left hand corner, as the girls were now getting their aim in.

Charlotte broke through the middle and passed the ball onto Amy who was now on fire and buried the ball away again in the corner to make it 5-1.  Spurs were camped in the Redbridge half and they were battling hard to stay in it. Amy had a shot which went across the box and Tia was not afraid to get stuck in down the left.

Number six came when Ruth had a shot which was saved by the keeper, but Tori was on the re-bound in a flash and made it 6-1.  It was at this stage that Redbridge changed their keeper who had hurt her arm, but she had played ever so well.   Following a goal mouth scramble, one of the Redbridge players handled the ball and Bobbi stepped up to take the penalty.  The replacement keeper however made herself big and she saved the penalty.

Redbridge were trying to create a breakaway, but both Tianna and Hollie were making sure that they didn’t get through the middle.  Amy’s third of the day, was probably her best when she turned and swivelled on the edge of the area and curled the ball into the top left hand corner to make it 7-1.

The girls were keen to do more and Ruth, through her pace, found herself, one on one with the keeper and placed the ball past the keeper into the back of the net to make 8-1.

Everyone was keen to get into the act and Charlotte burst through the middle to let fly, with a strongly struck shot to make it 9-1.  Charlotte was then helping to set up the next goal when she passed the ball through top Bobbi who delivered it into the back of the net for 10-1.

Redbridge still tried to break through and Hollie cleared it away, with Shoshana and Saskia busy on the flanks.

Ruth had another chance with a one on one, this time the ball went passed the keeper, but bounced off the post and the keeper managed to get to the re-bound in time.

Tottenham won a free kick outside the area and whilst Amy produced a great ball, which ended up in the back of the net, their was an offside so it didn’t count. Bobbi produced a good pass out to Tori, who struck the ball but it was well saved by the keeper.

The girls played really well in the second, half which they should be proud of and it was a fitting end to say goodbye to 2006. Well done. Redbridge battled away and we wish them ever success in 2007.

So it was secret Santa after the game, I just hope that someone buys me a new pencil for Christmas.

London Youth FA Cup - Semi-final

After the Christmas and New Year break, what you want is a nice easy game to start the New Year, this one wasn’t it. Whilst the U12A’s (in blue kit) played below par today, the U12Bs - a combination of our 11 sides (in white kit) who only had played together 11-a-side a few times before were brilliant and they battled their older counter parts every step of the way.

I will apologise to say that unfortunately I don’t know all the names of the U11s, but I have tried to do my best.

Charlotte Mc Lucas for the Blues had a shot at goal very early on and it was well caught by the Whites keeper Naomi Coulson.  The Whites were quickly into their game with Lulu Fox and Chloe Smith linking up down the left to cause Saskia Collins a real handful of problems, which she battled away with the assistance of Vicki Blake in the centre of defence.  Hollie Watson was dealing with the attack on the right from the Whites.  The first corner went to the Whites, but was pushed back up field and away from danger.

Charlotte was making her presence felt for the Blues on the right and Laura Newby had an early shot which went straight into the arms of the Naomi.  The Whites were defending well, Tori Tripp went on a long run on the left and her shot unfortunately was straight at the keeper who held it well.  There was some good link up play between Charlotte, Laura, Hollie and Bobbi, whose shot went over the bar.  Amy Woff had a shot which was held by the keeper and the Whites then had a break away attack, which was dealt with by Tianna Carrington and Vicki in the end.

Tori broke through once again, but due to some good defending by the whites, her final shot which looked like it had gone in had been deflected off by Lulu.  Whilst the Blues had most of the possession and best chances they hadn’t put them away and were very nearly punished at the end of the first half when the Whites broke forward and Lily Tyrimos charged out of goal to close down the shot, which she did and Georgia Miller couldn’t quite steer the rebound towards the now open goal.

The second half started well for the Blues with Bobbi having a couple of early long range shots at goal.  The Whites having were also looking for the break and Saskia was battling hard.  Tianna made a great run out from the back and beat and number of players with her skill and pace, her pass to Ruth Collett saw the resultant shot blocked by a Whites defender for a corner.

The Whites then were on the charge and Tianna was called into action at the other end of the park.  Tori pushed through on the left, but once again some excellent defending by the whites stop her in her tracks.  Ruth, Laura and Tori were trying to find a way through up front, but Laura’s one on one shot was saved by Naomi.

The Whites hit back and were now deep into the Blues half trying to find a break through themselves.  It was end to end stuff with Charlotte pass through to Bobbi seeing another shot well saved by Naomi and quickly, the Whites keeper was in action again a few moments later when she pulled another save from Bobbi’s shot.  The Whites were under pressure but to their credit still didn’t buckle under and continued to try and push up towards the Blues goal. Ruth had a shot which was blocked by the keeper for a corner and Laura had another shot saved by Naomi.  Normal time ended 0-0 with the Whites having pulled off a great job of defending their goal from a number of chances, whilst at the same time having some opportunities of their own.

The first period of extra time saw an early attack by the Blues, but Tianna was called very quickly into defending at the back.  Hollie was also very solid on the right of defence and was delivering some good balls up field.  The game was getting more stretched out and Saskia was battling away and Laura had another shot saved by the Whites keeper.

Shoshana Field came on for the injured Hollie and the game continued at a healthy pace.  The Whites broke through on their right and Alison Woodward was one on one with Lily, she let fly with her shot which Lily parried up and then caught.  The action then turned down the other end and a break away move happened which saw Ruth with only the keeper to beat and this time the ball ended up in the back of the net to make it 1-0 after some 67 minutes of play.

The second period of extra time started and it was still very much an open game, with end to end play.  The Whites then had a break down their left and as Abigail Barrett went down in the box, a very interesting penalty decision was awarded which stunned everyone.  Lulu stepped up to take the kick, but it hammered off the post and away.

Charlotte had a break down the right and her shot just whistled passed the post.  Tori was then one on one with the keeper and her shot was very well saved by Naomi who had, had an outstanding game today and had very much kept the Whites in the hunt all the time.

The Whites weren’t quite yet finished when there was a break away move and Lily came out, she was beaten and it was down the Vicki to clear the ball away from goal.

Whilst the Blues weren’t on top scoring form today, nothing should be taken away from the Whites who played out of their skins and should be very proud of their achievements.  Like all Cup games there was a lot of passion floating about, but when all is said and done, it’s what joy, experience and excitement that the girls get out of playing football that matters.  Very well done to all, as this match shows the strength and quality of football at THLFC.
