Harvesters U12 3
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U12 0
Home Counties Girl's Football League Cup - Group C
After a hard fought contest last week in the London Youth FA Cup, the girls travelled to Harvesters on a bright and sunny day, although not that warm.

Tottenham started with some early pressure, although it was clear from the outset that Harvesters meant business and Tianna Carrington was called into defending at the back.  Lily Tyrimos also sped out of her goal to meet a through ball before a Harvester striker could get to it and this was followed up by a long range shot from Harvesters and the ball was well caught by Lily.

Tori Tripp was pushing down the left and Ruth Collett drilled a ball forward which the opposition keeper just got to before Tori.  Saskia Collins was very busy on the left of defence and managed to hold of pressure from the Harvester strikers.

Charlotte McLucas was trying to create some space down the right and threaded a ball through to Bobbi Cubberley which once again the keeper got to it first.  Vicki Blake was in the thick of the action and passed a ball through to Tori whose shot was saved by the keeper.  The Spurs defenders were busy and Vicki made some clearances.  All of a sudden, Harvesters burst through the middle and scored a well taken goal past a diving Lily.  This goal was followed a minute later by another attack, which saw pressure on the central defenders, unfortunately Lily came out and accidentally the ball was kicked into an open goal for an own goal ... these things happen.

Harvesters were putting the defence under pressure which was being soaked up by Hollie Watson on the right and Lily had to push the ball off after a shot for a corner.  Shoshana Field came on the left of defence and was called upon straight to clear the ball away and link up with Tianna to keep the attackers at bay.

Marva Kreel came on, on the right and Hollie made some good clearances on the right, with Shoshana producing some good defending on the left.

The first half finished with Harvesters having played very well, pushing the Tottenham girls back.  The Spurs girls were certainly not playing at the top of their game and they were very much second to most of the tackles and loose balls.

The girls started the second half and once again were on the back foot, with Hollie defending well on the right. Pressure came through the middle of defence and Lily handled the ball outside the area, so a free kick was awarded. It was well struck, but Lily managed to tip the ball over the bar.

Charlotte was pushing forward, but still the defence was under pressure and Shoshana was clearing it away. Harvesters had a shot which whistled across the face of the goal.  Amy Woff was trying to create some space in the middle.  The home side broke through the middle of defence once again and their striker delivered a very well struck shot in the back of the net to make it 3-0.

It was about now that the girls finally woke up and started to play as we know they can.  Charlotte was battling hard down the right and Hollie was getting stuck in to be strong in defence.  Tori had replaced Laura Newby in attack and her first shot just went wide of the post.  This was followed very shortly afterwards by a shot from Ruth which was first of all half-saved by the keeper and then cleared off the line by a defender.

Harvesters were being pegged back in their own half and Tori had two further shots, both of which were well saved by the keeper.  Libby Lovick had come on for Marva and produced a pass to Ruth, whose shot whistled across the face of the goal.  Tottenham still had to keep their wits about them and Vicki produced some good defending at the back.   Shoshana produced a long ball to Tori who once again burst through the middle and her shot was scrambled away by the Harvesters defenders.

Tianna cleared some good balls away and Tori once again just missed out on getting to the ball before the keeper. Bobbi had a long range effort which was held by the keeper.

Harvesters were totally up for the game today and played very well. The Tottenham girls weren’t at their best by a long way and sometimes you just have to accept that happens

Player of the match went to Charlotte for her work rate and commitment.

Heads up Girls, nothing is lost and still all to play for.

Lea Valley United U12 3
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U12 1
Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1
Spurs Under-12s lost out in a game against Lea Valley United that was held up while one of their players suffered a serious injury.

The game started with a midfield battle and the girls were looking for the through ball and the first came to Ruth Collett on the left, but she couldn’t quite get passed the Lea Valley final defender.

Amy Woff delivered a nice cross over to Bobbi Cubberley, who was just beaten to the ball by the Lea Valley keeper. Tori Tripp was using her pace down the right hand side and her shot just went wide of the target. The girls were very much on top and had the possession pushing the Lea Valley players back well into their own half. Laura Newby was looking for space up front and Charlotte McLucas was making her presence felt in the middle of the park.

Lea Valley took the lead when a penalty was awarded for a handball from a corner.f

This situation seemed to knock the girls, who had been on top and Lea Valley started to apply the pressure, which meant that the defence of Vicki Blake, Tianna Carrington, Hollie Watson and Shoshana Field were kept busy.

Amy had a shot from outside the area, which went wide and Charlotte and Amy were battling in the middle, with Bobbi to get hold of the ball. Vicki made a very timely clearance from the back and Tori had some more darting runs down the right.

Lea Valley pushed forward again and Lily Tyrimos, made a great save from a well struck shot, unfortunately a Lea Valley player was quickly on the rebound and smashed the ball away to make it 0-2.  Spurs then had to defend with all their might as Lea Valley piled on the pressure, Lily made a good catch from a long range shot.  Lily had to dive on the ball after it was scrambling around the penalty area.  Tianna sustained a head injury, after making an important clearance.

Charlotte and Tori were trying to create some movement on the right, but still Lea Valley came, with Lily producing a great save from a one to one situation and Vicki herself being involved in a one on one battle which she held off the attacker to deny her a shot.  Amy was trying to link up with Laura on the left and still Lea Valley came, with Lily producing another great save at the end of half time.

The second half started and little did we know what a dramatic one it would be. The girls started brightly with Ruth and Charlotte battling up front and Bobbi getting into the action, producing a well struck corner into the box.

Suddenly Lea Valley broke through and one of their players produced a well struck shot which whistled passed Lily into the back of the net to make it 0-3.  It was at this stage that we realised their was something very wrong with Tianna who had remained on the floor for sometime. Unfortunately an ambulance had to be called which took 50 minutes to arrive and poor Tianna, who couldn’t be moved due to the pain in her leg, was freezing cold on the floor, despite great care from Paula and Julie.  The ambulance with Tianna in it finally drove away to hospital.

The game continued on the pitch next door with some 20 minutes of the game left.  The girls were determined to put up a better showing and they did that straight from the whistle.  Tori was using her pace down the right and very nearly beat the keeper who got to the ball first.

There was good build up from Tori, Charlotte and Bobbi in the middle and Lea Valley were once again pinned back in their own half.  Spurs were denied a penalty of their own when the ball appeared to be handled inside the area.

Still the girls were battling away with Libby Lovick ensuring that the defence held firm on the left hand side as Lea Valley were trying to break out.  Amy made a great run through the middle, which was finally blocked off.

Tori picked up the ball on the right and darted inside beating a number of players, she was one on one with the keeper, who just managed to partly block her shot, Tori got up and steered the ball towards the goal, but it was just scrambled off the line literally.

The girls still continued to pile on the pressure, with Charlotte having a shot at goal from the right.  Lea Valley were trying to break on the counter attack , but the girls broke down the right again and Tori passed the ball to Charlotte who flashed the ball across the box and Marva Kreel popped up at the far post to neatly put the ball away for a very well worked move.  So it was 1-3 with some seven minutes left.

The girls were now piling on the pressure themselves and giving the Lea Valley defence some real headaches to deal with.  Marva was weaving her magic on the left hand side.  The Spurs defence however still needed to keep their wits about them and Hollie produced some very strong clearances.. The girls continued but despite their battling they couldn’t find the break through that they needed.

The update on Tianna is that she has torn all the muscles in the top half of her right leg and she will be on crutches for at least two weeks.  I know that all the players, managers and parents wish Tianna well and a speedy recovery.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U12 10
Barnet Azzuri U12 0
Home Counties Girl's Football League Cup - Group C
After a couple of losses it was good that the Under-12 girls got back to their winning ways and more importantly played some better football.

Barnet were quick off the mark from the start and had the Spurs defence tumbling back towards their own goal.  Danger past, the girls set about dominating the rest of the match.  Tori Tripp had an early shot at goal which was saved by the keeper and Charlotte Mc Lucas was getting stuck in up front, while Amy Woff produced a good cross to Tori who was battling on the right.

Spurs won a corner and Charlotte delivered a great ball into the box, which Tori got on the end of and it was 1-0 after four minutes.  Laura Newby was creating some space and was producing some good pace through the middle, after a through ball from Amy.  Saiskia Collins, who was in defence on the left, was pushing up and produced a good pass to Bobbi Cubberley, whose shot was well saved by the keeper. The keeper was in action a moment later saving a shot from Tori.

Libby Lovick was strong in the middle of defence with Vicki Blake and they both cleared any balls away before an attack could begin. Hollie Watson intercepted some balls on the right of defence as she to also pushed up.  Indeed she also had a long range shot at goal, which bounced off the keeper and Tori very nearly finished it off, but the keeper just recovered in time.

Laura broke through and drilled the ball at the goal, it slammed against the under side of the cross bar and bounced out of the goal.  Bobbi and Laura were pushing forward and Charlotte had a shot which hit the side netting.  It was only time before the next goal came and it was delivered by Tori who battled through the defence and slotted the ball away to make it 2-0 after 15 minutes.

Unfortunately, Hollie sustained an injury and had to be assisted off, allowing Shoshana Field to join the defence.  It was a midfield battle, with Spurs putting Barnet under pressure.  Marva Kreel was in the thick of the action and Amy suddenly broke through on the left and smashed the ball into the net to make it 3-0.

Tori had a shot which went wide of the post and Amy produced a great cross, which dropped to Bobbi, who pulled the trigger.  The ball went high and hard and whilst the keeper got her fingers to it, she couldn’t stop it, so 4-0.

Bobbi had another shot just before half time which was saved by the keeper.

Tottenham started the second half brightly with some good runs from Laura.  Tori had a shot parried away by the keeper, Laura had another breakaway move and passed the ball up to Bobbi, whose shot smashed off the crossbar to deny a certain goal.

Number five wasn’t long away however when Tori battled through on the left and let fly with a shot to make it 5-0 and also deliver her hat-trick. The girls were all over the Barnet goal mouth, but to be fair to Barnet their heads didn’t drop and they continued to battle on.  There were a number of goal mouth scrambles and both Laura and Amy had shots which wide of the post.  Charlotte had a shot which the keeper pushed away, but Tori was on the loose ball in a flash and made it 6-0.  Laura was using her pace down the right and passed the ball to Amy who crossed it to Tori, with the shot just being saved on this occasion.

Bobbi produced some great individual skill, when she trapped and then swivelled on a ball to have the shot just go wide of the mark.  Marva was involved in some goal mouth action and Amy produced another through ball to Tori, who this time beat a player and then slammed the ball into the goal to make it 7-0 and her fifth of the day.

The girls were starting to cut through Barnet and Charlotte went on a run, with her shot very well saved by the keeper.  Marva had a shot on the right which was saved by the keeper and still the girls pushed forward.  Amy produced a well taken goal when she ran through the defence and slotted the ball passed the keeper to make it 8-0.  Amy delivered the same performance a few moments later and produced the same result, making it 9-0 and her hat-trick of the day as well.

Charlotte pushed through the defence and her shot was well saved by the keeper. Goal number ten came when Bobbi hit a well timed shot and the ball flew into the back of the net to make it 10-0.

Still the pressure continued with goal mouth scrambles, but little joy.

The Barnet girls had played well and in the right spirit and whilst Lily Tyrimos didn’t have much to do, she needed to be ever watchful.  Spurs were playing a better passing game and whilst still bunching at times, overall a much better performance especially from the midfield and attack.

It was great to see Tianna back on her feet after last weeks accident and we now just need everyone to get better before the next three hard games.

Well done to all.

After over three weeks without a game it was good to see the girls back in action, although the Team was down to the bare minimum of 11, due to sickness and injury amongst the squad.

Unfortunately, the team was also without manager Gerry McLucas, who was called away urgently to Ireland to attend a funeral, so Paul Newby stepped into the breach.

Every time the girls have visited Luton over the last few seasons, it has always poured down with rain and today didn’t disappoint.  In fact, my match report will be shorter than normal ("Yippee !" I hear you shout), mainly due to the fact that my pad fell to bits.

The game started with the midfield’s battling it out, Charlotte McLucas was getting stuck in early and she was being supported by Bobbi Cubberley and Tori Tripp.  The re-shaped defence was called into action early on and Tianna Carrington cleared the ball away in the middle, with the help of Vicki Blake, both who were excellent at the back.  Shoshana Field was on the left of defence with Amy Woff linking her passes out with Marva Kreel on the right.

Charlotte threaded a ball through to Tori, who was just beaten to it by the keeper.  Another move soon after saw a pass out from Amy to Charlotte who drilled the ball on to Ruth Collett, who was just beaten to it by the keeper once more.  Spurs were having a great deal of the possession and camped themselves in the Luton half for most of the first half, but couldn’t find the final pass or shot through.  The breakthrough came after about 20 minutes when Tori let fly with a shot which went through a crowd of players and was deflected into the back of the net.  Laura Newby was busy looking for space up front, still the rain continued and the ground became heavier and heavier.  Luton tried to find a way through, but didn’t have a shot at goal in the first half.

The girls changed ends and as well as the rain the wind was now blowing in their faces.  Once again it was a midfield battle, with Charlotte running the middle of the park and the Tottenham defence holding firm and pushing further and further up the park.  Lily Tyrimos was called into action on a few occasions to retrieve the ball on the edge of her area, but wasn’t tested by the Luton attack.

Charlotte had a shot which whistled passed the post and Tori had a great chance when the ball was passed through and she was one on one with the keeper.  She smashed the ball high and with power but the keeper pulled off a super reaction save to push it over the bar.  There were a number of goal mouth scrambles, but Spurs couldn’t quite find the back of the net.  Amy had a shot which went wide and Laura had a chance which went wide of the post.  Luton were trying to push out of their area, but the Tottenham girls were digging in and kept them penned in.  Tori had another shot saved by the keeper and the Luton keeper parried a ball away from a Bobbi shot to Laura who couldn’t quite slot it away.

The final whistle came and both sides had played very well and in the right spirit. The Tottenham girls can feel proud of themselves, given the fact they played the whole game without any subs on what was a very muddy and sticky pitch.  The Luton girls held the Tottenham players once again to a 1-0 score line and I sure that everyone will feel the effects of the game this evening/tomorrow.

Player of the match was awarded to Charlotte who covered every blade of grass or is that mud patch. We wish all the girls who are injured or ill well and say thank you to Paul for stepping in and wish Gerry all the very best.

I have had to put my pad on the radiator, I hope it survives !!

LONDON YOUTH FA CUP FINAL
The Cup final day finally arrived and with the girls not having had a game for two weeks it was good to see them in action. The weather conditions were difficult for both teams with a very strong wind blowing down the pitch.

I missed the first 20 minutes of the first half due to a balloon and an alarm which I won’t go into.  Anyway, Ben W took the notes for me.  The girls were slow to start and the London Girls were into attack mode straight away, putting the defence of Vicky Blake, Tianna Carrington, Libby Lovick and Saskia Collins under a lot of pressure.  The London Girls had a number of corners and the girls did well to clear the lines and get the ball away.

Tori Tripp was creating some space down the right wing, running out from a deeper position than normal to put pressure on the London Girls defence.  Spurs had the wind in their faces and they were struggling for the first 15 minutes to get the ball out of their half and away from danger.  London Girls were having attacks but were either being repelled by the defence or moving offside.

The first shot at goal by Spurs came when Amy Woff crossed the ball to Tori whose shot went to the keeper. Bobbi Cubberley delivered a through ball, which was cleared by the London Girls defence.

After the initial storm by London Girls, Spurs started to get more into the game, with Charlotte McLucas crossing the ball in, which was deflected off for a corner.  Bobbi delivered a ball through to Laura Newby whose shot was saved by the keeper.  Bobbi also found Ruth Collett up front, but no success on this occasion.

The London Girls however were still very dangerous and the defence had to clear the lines on a number of occasions with either Vicky or Tianna making the vital tackle and clearance.  London Girls had made the most of the first half, but still the score was 0-0.

Spurs started the second half with a spring in their step and with the wind behind them started to push London Girls well back into their own half.  Tori ran onto a through ball and her shot was just wide of the mark.  Another ball was threaded through to Laura and she was only just beaten to the ball by the keeper.  Spurs were putting the opposition defence under a lot of pressure and you thought that it would need a good goal to break the deadlock.  Tori had another good run down the right.  Saskia delivered a ball up to Amy on the edge of the goal area, she smashed the ball at great speed towards the goal, it thumped itself into the top right hand corner and the crowd went wild with delight.  Amy is starting to get a name for herself for scoring the winning goal in cup matches after she did the same thing last year in the League Cup.

London Girls hadn’t given up however and Lily Tyrimos safely gathered the ball after a shot through the defence.  Spurs were looking for goal number two and Tori had a shot which went wide of the mark, after creating some space on the right.  Soon afterwards Lily had to make a good save when she dashed out of goal, with four London Girls bearing down on her.

Bobbi headed the ball forward to Ruth who ran at pace at the goal, she shot and for a minute it looked like it had found the back of the net, only for it to go past the post.

London Girls were now pushing up in numbers and all the defence had to make some great clearances to keep them at bay.  There was a goal mouth scramble and once again, Lily and the girls so how managed to keep the ball out.

With only minutes remaining London Girls thought they had beaten the offside trap and were through, but they didn’t hear the whistle as the ball hammered against the crossbar.  Spurs were defending with all their might and despite London Girls best efforts they just couldn’t get through.

It was an exciting game, with both sides having their moments.  However, in the end, the super strike from Amy was the difference between the teams.  Well done to both teams who played the game in the right spirit and made it superb entertainment.

The first bit of silverware for the U12s in the 2007 season. Well done to all.
