The Spurs Ladies
Under 12s kick started the 2008-2009 season with an impressive friendly
win over Essex league champions Tigers FC.
Spurs opened the
scoring with centre back Jenny Hunnable helping in attack midway through
the first half, Tigers came back to level the score before Spurs took
control to make it 2-1 with a well placed shot into the roof of the net
by Christie Page.
In the second half,
Spurs begun to dominate with some great team play with goalkeeper Kitty
Chapman excelling. Our third goal came from a great little tap in
from Maya Vio. Hannah Fenton-Burgess was finally rewarded for her
efforts with Spurs' fourth goal followed shortly after by a thoroughly
deserved goal from Tia Fogarty who had made some great runs throughout.
The new look
Under-12s played attractive and incisive football throughout the 60
minutes and everyone is looking forward to a very promising upcoming
season.

The
Spurs Ladies u12s kicked off the season in style with a 5-1 win over
Garston Ladies.
The under-12s took the new sized pitch
in their stride. In the first half Maddie Sollof and Rachel Hands
impressed with some stunning runs up and down the flanks with Hannah
Fenton-Burgess and Tia Fogarty slicing through the Garston defence every
time they got the chance. After some great team play starting from
the back Hannah Fenton-Burgess netted Spurs first beating a much
improved Garston keeper. Spurs continued the half impressing
throughout.
Tasha
Smits, Jenny Hunnable, Emma Tammaro and Georgia Fairs made an impressive
back four making sure goalkeeper Kitty Chapman was rarely troubled.
Manager Glenn Weaver made some changes with Tara Sandford, Evie Rose and
Maya Vio slotting into midfield with ease and some great one-twos led to
Maya Vio’s first of the afternoon shortly followed by her second and
third although her third was ruled out for handball. Spurs
finished the half 3-0 up.
We
started the second half much the same as we finished the first.
Georgia Sanders, Poppy Bennett and Christie page all impressed with
their solid performances in a change to the defence and captain Emma Lee
continued to be influential in the middle of the field with some great
passes out to the flanks.
Maya
Vio capped off her afternoon with a thoroughly deserved hat trick.
Garston pulled one back from a corner when Spurs let down their guard
for the first time of the match. Tia Fogarty finished off the game
with a cutting run through the centre of the park to make it a deserved
5-1 victory.

The
Spurs Ladies Under-12s eased to a comfortable 16-0 win over Harvester FC
in the HCGFL at Fred Knights this afternoon.
Our
first home game of the season started well with Tia Fogarty’s first of
four goals within ten minutes of kick off, the Harvester keeper fumbled
a save and Tia was there again to slot in her second two minutes later.
The
third Tottenham goal came minutes later with one of many superb runs by
Maddie Sollof down the entire length of the pitch ending with a lovely
pass to Isabella Reuben-Crompton who smashed home to make it 3-0. The
fourth goal of the morning came from a corner and after a error from the
Harvesters keeper, Emma Tammaro was on hand to make the most of their
mistake.
Tia
got her hat trick on the 20 minute mark to make it 5-0. Goal number six
was some great link up play in midfield with Hannah Fenton Burgess
getting her first of three.
It
was 7-0 when a great pass from Georgia Fairs at left back found Tara
Sandford, who slotted a lovely ball into the 18 yard box for Tia to make
it her well deserved fourth. Izzie seized the chance to get her
second goal of the match with a great power shot from the middle of the
field.
Maya
Vio made it on to the score sheet with Spurs ninth goal of the half
after another sprinting run down the right flank from Maddie, who was
rewarded for her efforts with Spurs tenth goal to finish the half.
Captain Emma Lee scored within two minutes of the restart to make it
11-0. Minutes later Spurs forced a corner which led to a scramble in the
box for Hannah to grab her second. Goal 13 came from a smashing
shot from Christie Page which the HFC keeper dropped and Maya Vio was
again on hand to tap in. Hannah scored her hat trick after some
beautiful link up play with Tia to make it 15-0. The match finally
finished with Emma scoring her second goal with a lone run across goal
to make it 16-0.
Jenny
Hunnable, Tasha Smits, Poppy Bennett, Evie Rose and Georgia Saunders all
kept it tight at the back throughout the 60 minutes and goal keeper
Kitty Chapman stepped up on the rare occasions she was needed.

The Spurs Ladies u12s
kept up their unbeaten run in the HCGFL with a 5 - 0 win away at St
Martins today.
Although Natasha Smits
hit a shot over the bar after just two minutes and a couple of
corners were saved by the St Martins goalkeeper, Tottenham finally
found their game almost half way into the first half. A great
pass from Isabella Reuben-Crompton straight to Maya Vio put the
striker in and she didn’t hesitate in scoring.
The two Emma's (Lee
and Tammaro) and Christie Page were substituted with Tara Sandford,
Evie Rose and Poppy Bennett entering the
game and they continued the excellent form the girls had found.
This was realised when Maya got her second goal.
Poppy made an
impressive run down the right and with some great passing,
Maddie Sollof
made it 3-0. This was soon followed by more excellent passing, this
time down the left from Maddie, Emma Lee
and Evie, creating
a chance for Tia Fogarty, who made it four just before half
time.
The second half
started as good as the first with a near miss from Hannah
Fenton-Burgess. Emma Tammaro and Tara were determined down the
right with Christie not giving in on the left. Natasha and
Jenny Hunnable stayed solid in defence throughout the game, with
Kitty Chapman staying focused and stepping in when needed.
The fifth and final
goal came from a run down the middle by Emma Lee, who managed to
beat the keeper and score a well deserved goal.
Player of the match
went to Maya Vio.

Spurs
Ladies u12s
had the wet weather to contend with, but still managed to put on an
excellent performance to keep them top of the U12’s HCGFL with a 5-1
win over St Albans City.
The opening ten minutes were spent in
and around the St Albans box with Spurs dominating the game with
splendid passing from Isabella and Captain Emma Lee, using
Tia Fogarty and
Maddie Sollof out on the wings
and through the middle of the field to Maya Vio
and Rachel Hands, but the girls could not get past the defence or
the keeper, who came out of her box numerous times to stop them from
scoring.
The back four, Georgia Sanders, Natasha
Smits, Jenny
Hunnable and Christie Page remained on their toes and on the
rare occasion when St Albans managed to break away they were ready
in defence leaving Kitty Chapman with little or nothing to do and
the play was once again down the right end.
Half way through the half, Rachel
unfortunately shot high over the bar, just before Glenn made his
five substitutions, Emma Tammaro for Christie and Poppy Bennett for
Georgia keeping a solid back four and Tara
Sandford, Evie Rose and Hannah
Fenton-Burgess replacing Tia, Maya and
Maddie to keep up the good run of play.
At last, the pressure paid off with a
great pass from Rachel straight to Hannah, who got the first goal
with only five minutes of the half left to play. Rachel made a good
run down the field, but kicked just wide of the goal leaving the
lead at 1-0 when the whistle blew for half time.
The girls returned in the second half
with the same determination and after just five minutes
Evie managed to get past the defenders
and her shot was right on target. After some great running
and passing down the right, Tia made it
3-0. Not to be outdone in the centre, Emma Lee passed to Emma
Tammaro who shot an outstanding fourth. Within a couple of minutes
Emma Lee made the goalie come right out of her area and she got the
fifth and final Spurs goal.
Glenn made further substitutions in the
second half to give all the girls plenty of play and unfortunately
two minutes from the end, Spurs were caught off guard and gave a
goal away.
At the end Glenn told the girls that it
was not the score sheet, but how they passed the ball around and
played as a team that really mattered and as they had all
contributed, so he could not pick out any one player this week.

The
Spurs Ladies Under-12s had a long trek up the M25 to play Denham United
B this morning in the HCGFL.
Spurs
took control with their first goal coming within three minutes with
superb passing featuring Maya Vio who slotted through to Tia Fogarty for
her first of yet another hat trick. The girls kept up the pressure
which paid off with a well placed corner from Isabella Rueben-Compton
into Emma Tammaro, who took a swinging shot into the back of Denham
goal. The home side made a few chances of their own, but Tasha
Smits and Jenny Hunnable were, as usual, impeccable at the back.
On
the 19 minute mark Tia netted her second of the game following a lovely
pass through the centre from Emma Lee. Manager Glenn Weaver made
some changes as Georgia Saunders, Poppy Bennett, Christie Page, Tara
Sandford and Hannah Fenton-Burgess came on and took over where the
subbed players left off. Five minutes before the half time whistle
Christie Page and Georgia Fairs played some lovely one-twos, resulting
in a superb shot smashed in by Georgia Fairs to finish the half 4-0 up.
The
second half started with Spurs again piling on the pressure and it
wasn’t long before Spurs took the goal tally to five with Rachel Hands
and Hannah making one of their thrilling runs through the middle of the
oppositions' defence for Hannah to slide home.
Again
Denham continued to fight back but the back line, but found goalkeeper
Kitty Chapman making sure that any threats were soon extinguished.
Maddie Sollof was rewarded for her persistence when Emma Lee put in
another great pass from the left flank for Maddie to smash pass a
shell-shocked Denham goalkeeper. Maddie then made one of her now
trademark lone runs up the right side to slot in a lovely pass for Tia
to finish off for her hat trick.
Spurs
continued to play some great football with the girls passing throughout
the length of the pitch. Our eighth goal come from a pass halfway
up the pitch from Christie Page to Tasha Smits, who knocked the ball
onto Maddie. The midfielder placed an inch perfect shot into the
back of the Denham goal for her second of the day and Tottenham finished
off the match with a fantastic run down the left side from Georgia
Fairs, who passed to Hannah. The striker's shot was blocked, but
the ball came back out to Georgia F, who curled it in to the top of the
net, finishing the match with Spurs being 9-0 winners.
Although the score doesn’t reflect it Denham B were a good, organised
team but the Under-12s played some excellent intelligent football and
thoroughly deserved this great win.

london fa youth cup - round 1 |

The u12s
were at Fred Knights this morning for their quarter final of the London
Cup against Little Angels.
The
weather was far from ideal with us all being soaked before we even
kicked off but the girls were in good spirits and well up for the match
ahead.
Within three minutes of the start Tia Fogarty ran at the Angels defence
and a moment of mass confusion led to her first goal of the game this
was closely followed by a lovely knock in from Rachel Hands for the
second goal for Spurs.
The
girls continued to run the game and Christie Page made it 3-0 after her
persistence down the right flank finally paid off. Spurs kept the ball
in the Angels half and Isabella Rueben-Compton scored a great goal from
one of her now infamous corner kicks. Although Little Angels put up a
really brave fight sadly they were no match for our u12s who continued
with a cracking shot on the edge of the 18 yard box from Christie for
her second.
Rachel got her second shortly after with a smashing shot into the top
right corner of the net. Manager Glenn Weaver made two changes
putting on Maddie Sollof and Tara Sandford who straight away took
control in the middle of the field. Maddie scored two goals in
quick concession through some lovely team passing between Evie Rose and
Emma Tammaro. Christie got her well deserved hat trick with about
five minutes of the half to spare. The half finished at 9-0
Two
minutes into the second half saw Emma Lee make it 10-0. Georgia Fairs
scored her third of the season after moving up to play at right mid and
then some lovely passing starting at the back with Jenny Hunnable saw
Maddie get another hat trick. The 13th THLFC goal was smashed
in from just outside the 18 yard box from Georgia F and after playing
her part in the middle of the park, Tara was rewarded with a goal of her
own to make it 14-0. With less than five minutes left Poppy
Bennett went on a lone run securing our fifteenth followed by another
power shot into the Angels net by Issy to finish the match 16-0. A
special mention for goalkeeper Kitty Chapman who although not troubled
showed great sportsmanship throughout.
All
credit goes to the Little Angels team who throughout this massive defeat
gave 100% and battled right up to the final whistle and we wish them
well in the future.

The THLFC u12s were
at home at a very cold Fred Knights to take on Stotfold Juniors in the
HCGFL this morning.
Straight from the
off Spurs went on the attack and it paid off after four minutes for Tia
Fogarty who can’t seem to stop scoring at the moment, seven minutes
later Tia got her second after linking up with Emma Tammaro and Maya Vio.
Isabella Rueben
Compton falsed a great save from the Stotfold keeper then helped set up
Maya for our third goal. Stotfold broke for the first time in the match
but Evie Rose was on hand to make a great clearance.
Manager Glenn Weaver
made some changes and straight away Hannah Fenton Burgess run through on
goal for her first.
Emma Lee, Christie
Page and Poppy Bennett continued to dominate in their positions playing
ball after ball up to their forward players and Tara Sandford who had
been terrorizing the opposing defence made it 5-0 when she managed to
slip past their last player.
Stotfold continued
to battle for every ball but couldn’t do anything to stop Tia who got
yet another well deserved hat trick just before half time.
The second half
kicked off with the Tottenham u12s sitting on a 6-0 lead. A
wonderful five pass move between Maya and Hannah gave Hannah her second
goal of the match making the score 7-0.
Jenny Hunnable,
Tasha Smits, Kitty Chapman and Georgia Fairs were as usual impeccable in
their designated roles and Georgia Saunders impressed further up the
field. Tasha Smits showed her versatility by going on a run of her
own and smashing past the Stotfold keeper for Spurs eighth goal of the
day.
Tia hit the net for
the fourth time after a pass from Emma T followed by a well deserved
second for Maya, who had been instrumental in at least four of the ten
goals scored. It was Tia who finished the scoring with her fifth
of the morning giving the Tottenham u12s an 11-0 victory.
Although the score
line was vast it could have been a lot more if not for the Stotfold
Junior goalkeeper who pulled off some magnificent saves throughout the
match.

The Tottenham u12s travelled up the A10
for their first meeting with Hoddesdon Owls in the HCGFL.
The match started with Hoddesdon adopting
a five man defence. The game was even until the nine minute mark when Tia
Fogarty bulldozed her way through two defenders to score her first of the
afternoon.
All the play continued in the oppositions
half of the field and all credit to the Owls they continued to keep it
tight at the back, yet another goal mouth scramble allowed Rachel Hands
to make some space for herself to make it 2-0. All the girls played
their part with Emma Lee, Georgia Sanders and Emma Tammaro playing
lovely balls up to Maya Vio and Tia Fogarty who fought their way through
the Hoddesdon defence only to be denied by the Owls keeper.
Tia
got her second when she headed in from an Isabella Rueben-Compton
corner to make it 3-0. After some lovely runs down the right flank Maddie Sollof got her reward when she smashed home from another
wonderful corner kick from Issie.
The game continued in the same vain with
Tottenham having all the play and on the rare occasion that the Owls
broke Jenny Hunnable, Tasha Smits, Poppy Bennett and Evie Rose were
there to clear.
Just before half time Georgia Fairs, who
had been making some great runs down the left side, hit a cracking volley
from a Isabella cross to make it 5-0 at the half time whistle.
Tottenham were caught out early into the
second half when Hoddesdon managed to penetrate our defence and just
beat goalie Kitty Chapman to make it 5-1.
The u12s quickly recovered and within
minutes Maya gave us back our five goal advantage, when Hannah
Fenton-Burgess blocked a goal kick and blasted back at the Hoddesdon
goal for the keeper to spill straight into the path of Maya to bang in
to make it 6-1.
Spurs continued to pile on the pressure,
with the girls playing some lovely intelligent passes in all areas of
the pitch and this led to our seventh goal, when after a five pass move
which started from Christie Page at the back, led to Rachel getting her
second
with a great shot from the edge of the 18 yard box.
Tia got her hat trick five minutes from time
when she broke past three players for a one on one with the Hoddesdon
keeper, finishing the game 8-1 to the Tottenham u12s.
