The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies u12s faced a tough game up at Luton today for their first meeting this season in the HCGFL.  Both teams faced a really hard match on a very heavy muddy pitch.

Jenny Hunnable, Tasha Smits, Emma Tamara and Poppy Bennett started the match in defence clearing any attempt Luton made on goal, with goalkeeper Kitty Chapman on hand to save on the very rare occasion that the opposition managed to squeeze through.

Rachel Hands and Maddie Sollof ran tirelessly down the flanks for the entire match trying to lay passes on to Tia Fogarty and Maya Vio, who, due to the heaviness of the playing field, unfortunately couldn’t run at the opposition defence as they usually do week in week out.

The game was played mostly in the middle of the field with both teams failing to get any rhythm due to the conditions.

The second half continued in the same vain with Tottenham getting more of the chances with Evie Rose and Christie Page winning the battle in a congested midfield.  Georgia Sanders and Georgia Fairs battled well in defence and Emma Lee managed to squeeze a couple of lovely balls through the centre, but Luton stayed strong in defence and the match finished honours even at 0-0.

The Tottenham under-12s travelled up to Highgate for our first league meeting with Hampstead u12s.

The pitch was a lot smaller than the girls were used. but never the less the girls took it in their stride.

Most of the game was played in Hampstead’s half, but on the rare occasion that Tottenham were tested Jenny Hunnable, Georgia Fairs, Emma Tamarro and Poppy Bennett were on hand to clear any threats and Kitty Chapman easily dealt with any stray shots at goal.

Isabella Rueben-Compton, Maddie Sollof and Rachel Hands played well in midfield trying to feed the ball up to Maya Vio and Tia Fogarty who were making life difficult for the Hampstead defence.

Maya Vio finally got her reward for pestering the defence with a clever little shot past the Hampstead goalie. Evie Rose, Christie Page, Georgia Sanders and Tara Sandford came on and all made a difference in their designated roles.

Spurs finished the half 1-0 up.

The second half started with the Tottenham u12s having most of the possession and continued to press for their second goal this finally came halfway through the half when Maddie smashed home after a lovely run down the flank.

The matched finished 2-0 to the Tottenham u12s.

The Tottenham Under-12s were at home to Denham Panthers today at Fred Knights for their second meeting in the HGFL.

The first half was a lack lustre affair with Tottenham taking their time to settle back in after the long Christmas break. Halfway through the half, after a lapse of concentration from Spurs, Denham took advantage and put the away side one goal to the good.  The half carried on in the same vain with Denham having the upper hand.

The second half was a totally different game all together. Kitty Chapman as usual dependable in goal, Tasha Smits, Poppy Bennett, Georgia Sanders and Evie Rose kept it tight at the back.  Maddy Sollof, Rachel Hands, Tara Sandford and Isabella Rueben-Compton marshalled in midfield with Tia Fogarty and Emma Tammaro fighting their way through the Denham defence. It didn’t take long for the Spurs U12s to get back on track.

Our equaliser came from the back with a lovely pass up the left flank from Evie Rose to Rachel Hands who slotted in to Tia who went on to beat three defenders and finally the Denham Goalkeeper. 1-1 game on.

Changes were made with Emma Lee, Georgia Fairs, Maya Vio and Christie Page slotting in to a much improved Tottenham side. Tia didn’t take long to get her second making it 2-1 followed shortly after by a penalty from Maya after a foul on Tia in the goal area.  A lovely passage of passes, which started with Tasha at the back, saw the ball crossed in by Emma Lee and Emma Tammaro got her long awaited goal, making it 4-1 to Tottenham. The match was put to bed with a further two goals from Maya giving her another well deserved hat trick.

Final score 6-1 to Tottenham Ladies

This was definitely a game of two halves. Well done girls.

The Spurs Ladies Under-12s played the Denham Wildcats at a bitterly cold Fred Knights today in a HCGFL meeting.

Straight from kick off, Tottenham dictated the game with Tasha Smits, Poppy Bennett, Georgia Fairs and Georgia Sanders strong as usual at the back.  Jenny Hunnable, Isabella Rueben-Compton, Emma Lee and Maddie Sollof creating chances in midfield with Tia Fogarty and Emma T ready to pounce on any opportunity upfront. Halfway through the first half Tia broke the deadlock with a great slot in after beating the last two Denham players then the keeper.

Changes were made with Christie Page, Evie Rose, Rachel Hands and Maya Vio. With eight minutes to go to half-time, Jenny Hunnable smashed home to make it 2-0 to Tottenham after a goal mouth scramble from an Issy corner. Spurs finished the half 2-0 to the good.

With the second half underway Spurs started to dominate and Tia continued her formidable form with a goal from a great five pass move starting from the back, 3-0.  Maya finally netted our well deserved fourth after a great link up down the right flank from Georgia Fairs to Maddie Sollof, who went on a soaring run and put in an inch perfect pass for Maya to finish off.  Rachel made it five after yet another goal mouth scramble and a spill from the Denham keeper. Denham had a rare chance on goal which goalie Kitty Chapman dealt with and a quick thinking throw out led to our sixth goal and finally a goal for Maddie who had made another quick run down the flank.

Tottenham finished the match off with three more goals in quick succession from Emma T, Tia who notched up another hat-trick and a second goal for Rachel making the final score 9-0.

All credit to the girls today they all played their hearts out in less than ideal weather conditions and seemed to take it all in their stride, which is more than could be said about the poor frozen parents on the sidelines.

Well done girls.

The weather was much better for today's meeting with Hoddesdon Owls in the HCGFL than the last time the Spurs Ladies Under-12s were at Fred Knights.

Unfortunately for Hoddesdon, there was only one way the match was going to go when Tasha Smits opened the scoring from set play in under two minutes of the start.

All the girls played their part in yet another massive win and to their credit the girls moved the ball well around the pitch and at times the flow of play was lovely to watch.

With the rest of the goals from Maya Vio 3, Tia Fogarty 4, Maddie Sollof 2, Tara Sandford, Hannah Fenton-Burgess 2 and Emma Lee, Tottenham finished the match 14-0 to the good.

home counties girl's football league u12 cup - round 1

The Tottenham Under-12s faced a tough challenge today in round one of the Home Counties Girls' Football League Cup against Denham Panthers at Fred Knights.

Tottenham were under pressure from kick off with the Denham u12s determined to show that there were definitely two teams in this edgy cup tie, which they proved when they took the lead 20 minutes into the first half.  Spurs pressed hard for the equaliser, but all credit to Denham who defended solidly and their goalkeeper made some lovely saves to further frustrate an already below par Tottenham team.

The second half continued with Spurs throwing everything at Denham who were determined to hold on to their deserved lead but to Spurs credit they didn't give up despite the fact that this probably wasn't one of their best performances of the season and finally after what seemed like a five minute goal mouth scramble, Georgia Fairs slotted home our long awaited equaliser.  Honours even 1-1.

Spurs joy was short lived when Denham, eager to regain their lead, went on the attack again and managed to beat the last defender to make it a very uncomfortable 2-1 to Denham.  Again Tottenham found a way back when Maya Vio put us level with little less then five minutes to go. 2-2

Both teams battled for the remaining minutes with literally end to end attacks and as everyone seemed to be looking to go to extra time Maya Vio stepped up again to make it 3-2.  Spurs saw out the rest of the match which saw them make the draw into round two of the cup.

Although this wasn't a great performance the girls didn't give up and sometimes a sign of a great team is to win even when they're not at their best.  Although I must give credit to Denham, as they matched Tottenham for every ball today and must have felt very unlucky not to have got a better result.

The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under 12s made their way up to Denham for a second successive meeting with the Denham United Under-12s Panthers.

Both teams started off in the same manner that they have played in recent meetings between the two sides, with Tottenham doing all the pressing and Denham defending strongly.  Although on this occasion it didn't take long for Spurs to break the deadlock with a trademark Tia Fogarty goal to take the score to 1-0.  Tottenham continued the pressure and it wasn't long before Spurs doubled their lead with a slot in from Maya Vio.

Spurs approached the second half in the same way and continued to keep Denham in their half of the pitch. Hannah Fenton-Burgess made it 3-0, ten minutes into the half which was followed by our fourth goal from Tara Sandford.

Denham rarely passed the halfway line and on the odd occasion that they did the Spurs back four were on hand to quickly clear. Goal of the match came from Rachel Hands who had been a total handful to the opposing team down the left flank all game.  Final score 5-0 to Tottenham.

The Spurs Ladies Under-12s were at a unusually pleasant Fred Knights for our second meeting with Garston Ladies Under-12s in the HCGFL this morning.

Spurs set the tone of how the match was to be played straight from kick off with strike force Tia Fogarty and Maya Vio testing the opposition keeper several times in the first five minutes, although Garston did break a couple of times only to be thwarted by our ever strong back line.  As usual Jenny Hunnable, Tasha Smits, Georgia Fairs and Evie Rose were formidable at the back and with Kitty Chapman in goal any attempt was quickly dealt with and laid on for the ever increasing counter.

Isobella Rueben-Compton linked up with Christie Page in the centre, distributing telling passes to Maddie Sollof and Emma Tamarro who were controlling the flanks.  After one of several goalmouth scrambles the ball was cleared as far as a waiting Izzie 25 yards out, who didn’t think twice about smashing in to the top netting 1-0 to Spurs.

Spurs continued to press in the Garston penalty area and our second came straight from a cracking free kick from Izzie after a foul just outside the box.  Garston continued to press for an opening goal, but Tottenham were too strong in all areas of the field.

Another great set of passes throughout the pitch led to Maya beating two defenders then the keeper to slot in our well deserved third. Changes were made which saw Georgia Sanders, Poppy Bennett, Hannah Fenton-Burgess and Tara Sandford come on and shine in their designated positions and the half finished 3-0 to the Tottenham Under-12s.

The second half started in the same way and it wasn’t long before Spurs added to their lead with a great strike from Maddie after a great one two between Emma T and Hannah.  It was Hannah who hit two in succession to make the score 6-0.  Garston had all but conceded that it wasn’t to be their day when Emma T headed in over the keeper to make it 7-0.  After yet another failed clearance Emma T shot in from just outside the area to make it 8-0. Our ninth and final goal saw Maya hit her second after another skilful display past the last of the opposition's defence.

Final score THLFC 9 Garston 0

All the girls showed how well they can play when they really put their minds to it and with some big games coming up in the next few weeks have picked the right time to get back to their best.

Well done girls.

The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies FC Under-12s were away to local rivals Enfield Town today in their second meeting of the season.

Straight from kick off the Enfield u12s showed that they were definitely not there just to make up the numbers and Tottenham knew that they were very much involved in what was going to be a tough football match.

Both teams pressed for the opening goal, but neither team managed to break through either teams tough defences. Enfield had the best of the early chances when Georgia Fairs cleared off the line from an Enfield corner but as usual the Spurs defence were impenetrable, Jenny Hunnable, Tasha Smits, Georgia Fairs and Evie Rose looked sharp and were also on hand to set their midfield team mates on their way with some flowing pin point passes.

Maddie Sollof, Tara Sandford, Isobella Rueben-Compton and Rachel Hands continued to run tirelessly up and down the park creating chances for both themselves and strike force Maya Vio and Tia Fogarty. Unfortunately Enfield were determined not to let us walk all over them and their goalkeeper was also instrumental in the game remaining goalless at the half time whistle.

The second half brought about a more determined performance from the girls in the Blue and White of Tottenham and straight away the speed and strength of Rachel running at the Enfield defence saw the deadlock broken. 1-0 to THLFC.

The score remained at an uncertain 1-0 for what seemed like ages but Spurs were not content and continued to pressure the opposing defence. Christie Page and Georgia Sanders linked up well down the left side, Emma T tormented down the right and goalie Kitty Chapman easily scooped up any threats on the rare occasion that the ball managed to get past the back four.

Spurs finally doubled their lead when Maya tapped in after some great link up play between herself and Tia. 2-0.  It wasn't long before Tia was rewarded for her part in the first two goals with one of her own making it a comfortable three goal lead.  Tottenham continued to play some lovely football with every single one of the girls contributing something to this very entertaining game.

Our final goal of the afternoon came from Georgia Fairs when she hit a Ronaldinho style corner (thanks for the description Phil) that hit the back post and went in to make it a deserved 4-0 victory.

Another great performance from this ever improving group of girls and another win which sees us top of the U12 HCGFL.

Well done.
