london youth fa cup final
played at mile end stadium |
|
The Tottenham Hotspur Ladies FC Under-12s
were at the Mile End Stadium for their long awaited London Youth FA Cup
Final against Crystal Palace.
The match was played with both teams
putting in solid performances.
Crystal Palace took the lead twice, but
the Tottenham girls battled back with two great goals by Isabella
Reuben-Compton and Rachel Hands, which finally forced extra time.
Spurs continued to battle through, but
were beaten by two exceptional goals from Palace late on.
The match finished 4-2.
Although the girls faced their first defeat of the
season, they played the game with great sportsmanship throughout and
were a real credit to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies FC. Bad luck girls.

league u12 cup quarter final |
|
The Tottenham Ladies Under-12s were at a
pleasant Fred Knights today for our quarter final of the HCGF League Cup
against St Martins.
The match was an even affair with both
teams not afraid of going on the attack and both defences being called
upon to keep the game level.
Spurs finally got the break on the 15
minute mark when a Isabella Reuben-Crompton corner was deflected out for
a waiting Maya Vio to slot past two defenders into the back of the
oppositions net. 1-0
The rest of the first half carried on in
the same manner, although the game was a much more stop start affair due
to the amount of injuries to both teams.
Tottenham applied most of the pressure at
the start of the second half and after a number of corners and saved
shots on goal Rachel Hands managed to get a shot past the goalie, who up
to now had been hard to beat. 2-0
Spurs continued to make most of the
chances and Issy took hers when she curled a beautiful ball into the
roof of the St Martins net. 3-0
St Martins didn't give up and clawed one
back after a mix up in the Tottenham defence, this gave the opposition
renewed hope and they continued to take shots from all over the pitch,
which led to their second goal in the dying minutes. The final score
finished 3-2 which sees us progress to the semis.
Manager Glenn Weaver, although pleased
with the win, was less impressed with the girls overall performance and
most would agree that the girls can play much better then of late.

The
Tottenham Ladies Under-12s were at a warm and sunny Fred Knights today for
our third meeting of the season against St Martins.
The
girls took control of the match from the off and were determined that
the mistakes that happened in our last meeting did not happen again
today.
Tottenham scored on the 20 minute mark after a lovely pass from Tara
Sandford for Tia Fogarty to slot in. The half finished with Spurs 1-0 to
the good.
Not
long into the second half Isobella Rueben-Crompton made it 2-0 with one
of her notorious long range shots. St Martins kept trying, but were
no match for the girls in the white and blue of Spurs. Our final
goal came from a penalty after Rachel Hands was brought down in the
area. Emma Lee stepped up to take the spot kick, which was saved
by the St Martins goalie, although Emma was first to take advantage of
the spill and slotted home to finish the match 3-0.
All the
girls played their part in this entertaining game and the passing at
times was superb but Player of the Match went to Georgia Sanders who was
excellent today. Well done girls.

The
Tottenham Under-12s were at a chilly Fred Knights for the match that
could see us crowned league champions against Luton Town this morning.
The
girls knew from the start that this was going to be a close run match,
but as usual took it all in their stride. The first ten minutes were
played more or less end to end, with Spurs having most of the chances,
but failing to convert. Luton managed to break on the odd occasion
but was quickly closed down by our ever impressive back line, which
today started with Georgia Fairs, Georgia Sanders, Jenny Hunnable and
Poppy Bennett with usual centre back Tasha Smits in her new Wilson
Palacios role.
Emma
Lee, Maddie Sollof and Isabella Rueben-Crompton impressed in midfield,
With Tia Fogarty and Maya Vio ever threatening up front. Although
Spurs threatened on numerous occasions the half finished a tense 0-0.
Within
five minutes of the restart Tia finally got us of the mark when after a
failed clearance managed to slip the ball past the opposition keeper.
1-0 Spurs. Rachel Hands who had come on as striker made it 2-0
when she shot in from the edge of the box, which bounced straight over
the Luton keeper. Changes were made. Evie Rose slipped into
defence, with Emma Tamarro and Christie Page taking their turns on the
flanks and Hannah Fenton-Burgess took over the charge upfront.
Spurs
were given a bit of a fright when Luton were awarded a penalty after
what the referee saw as a foul inside our box, Kitty Chapman stood tall
and ready but the spot kick went wide.
Tottenham were not content with the score-line and continued to press
the Luton defence, Emma T was rewarded for her persistence when she made
it 3-0 with a volley from inside the box. Christie Page got our
fourth and final goal which was just reward for her hard work down the
right flank with approximately eight minutes to go.
The
match finished 4-0 and the Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-12s
deservedly confirmed as HCGFL Champions.
Every
single member of this talented team including Tara Sandford, who was
injured today, have contributed to becoming the first 11-a-side Spurs
Ladies team at junior level to win the league and should all be very
proud of themselves. Well done girls.
