Fielding eight new signings, the Under 13's took on last year's HGFL
runners-up, Hitchin Belles, in a friendly fixture at the Frederick
Knight Sports
Ground.
Spurs took a while to settle and were under heavy pressure in the early
stages but coped well with the central defensive partnership of Abi
Hutchinson-McKay and Cassidy Bentley looking a solid unit.
Spurs fell behind after 24 minutes when they failed to clear a Hitchin
Belles corner. Within six minutes, Spurs again failed to clear the lines
from a corner and Hitchin went two up at the break. To make the
situation worse, Spurs also lost their goalkeeper Rochelle Alexander
with an arm injury whilst conceding the second goal.
Spurs looked more lively after the break and runs from wide midfield
players, Jessica Richards and Chanel Breen, offer Spurs several good
openings. However, Hitchin Belles again caught Spurs failing to clear
their lines twice more in the last 15 minutes to eventually finish 4-0
victors.
The Under 13's pulled
off an excellent 1-1 draw in the HGFL against last year's champions
Queens Park Rangers. With five players making their league debuts for Spurs, QPR took
up the early running and took the lead after 15 minutes.Spurs battled back and Jessica Richards equalised for Spurs
before the break.
In the second half, Spurs continued to battle hard.QPR missed a penalty late on and handed Spurs their first
point of the season.
Although not firing on
all cylinders, the Under 13's comfortably beat Denham United Ladies 4-1
in the HGFL.
With
goals from Jessica Richards, Laura Parker, Bonnie Cullinan and Kelly
Farace, Spurs went on to record their first victory of the season in
fine style.

Despite going a goal
behind, the Under 13's eventually ran out 8-1 winners
against St. Albans Rangers in the HGFL.
Yasmin Palmer helped
herself to a five goal haul, while Bonnie Cullinan, Lillie Chapman and
Jessica Richards all added to the total tally as Spurs ran out
comfortable winners in the end.
Tottenham fired a
broadside of goals to sink Stevenage Borough Juniors in this Herts.
Girls Football League match at Frederick Knights sports ground.
As
early as the fifth minute, Tottenham made their intentions clear, when
Roisin Fletcher shot wide when through on goal. From the resulting
goal-kick, the ball went to Yasmin Palmer on the edge of the box and she
shot low past the keeper to open the scoring. Five more minutes
and another goal, this time produced as a result of a long through ball
by Rochelle Alexandra, latched onto by Bonnie Cullinan, who slipped it
past the keeper to double the lead.
Bonnie
scored her second when she chased down a ball into the box and the
goalkeeper's clearance bounced back of her into the net in the
thirteenth minute, which proved to be lucky for the Tottenham
forward. Straight from the kick off, Spurs put together a flowing
move. Cullinan, on the half-way line, swept the ball wide right to
Palmer, who ran forward putting in a great low ball into the box.
Unfortunately, it just evaded Cullinan and Parker as they ran in, with a
defender just knocking the ball out of play before it was put away.
Bonnie
Cullinan was having a lot of the possession at this stage and showed
good skill to make some space when surrounded by defenders on the
"D". Her shot was deflected wide for a corner, which was
cleared to Lizzie Lodge. Hitting a shot from outside of the
penalty area, it flew in past the keeper, despite her getting a hand to
it. That was after twenty minutes and just a minute later, there
was controversy when Cullinan thought she had wrapped up her hat-trick,
after chipping the ball over the diving keeper, but the referee adjudged
that the ball had gone into the side netting and wide, rather than in
and through the goal net.
The
home side only had to wait until the 24th minute to rack up number five,
when Lodge received the ball from a Stevenage goal-kick and burst into
the left side of the area before unleashing a powerful shot for her
second goal of the match and the season. Spurs were now almost
unstoppable and a minute later made it 6-0, with Kelly Farace getting on
the scoresheet after a neat pass from Lillie Chapman.
The
next passage of play was bogged down in midfield for a while, but in the
34th minute, Chapman found Cullinan on the edge of the box. Bonnie
shielded the ball and picked out the bottom left hand corner of the net
to seal her hat-trick just before half-time.
At
the break, Megan Livens replaced Roisin Fletcher and Rochelle Alexandra
went in goal, with Rebecca Williams moving up front for the second half.
And
it was Williams who had the first chance of the second half with a shot
into the side netting, then Palmer shot across goal and Cullinan
straight at the keeper. Bentley Cassidy made a good challenge as a
Stevenage break threatened the Spurs penalty area, before Tottenham went
on the attack again. Six minutes into the second half, Cullinan
took a free-kick on the left wing, floating it into the middle of the
area. It was met by a Williams volley that hit the bar and bounced
down for Kelly Farace to score from close range to net Spurs' eighth
goal.
With eleven
minutes gone in the half, the Borough keeper did well to save Chapman's
high shot and then in the next minute, Megan Livens scored her first
goal for the club. Laura Parker crossed the ball, Megan had a shot
from point blank range that hit the keeper in the face, Lillie was
involved in a goalmouth scramble and the ball broke to Livens who
shot home from close range.
Halfway
through the half, another scramble saw Williams, Palmer and Cullinan all
have efforts blocked by the keeper and the defence and the team had to
wait until the 24th minute of the half to take the score into double
figures. Yasmin Palmer went on a long run, fed Cullinan, who moved
the ball Kelly Farace and in turn, onto the left side of the box, where
Megan Livens was waiting. She produced a delicate chip over the
keeper that went just under the bar for her second of the match.
Yasmin
Palmer was trying to add her to her total with three efforts all off
target and another that the keeper pushed aside for a corner, while
Rebecca Williams had a shot on the turn saved. With just four
minutes remaining, a Chapman volleyed pass split the Boro defence down
the middle and Cullinan stayed cool to slot home past the keeper for her
fourth goal of the match.
The
scoring was rounded off with the best goal of the game right on
time. The ball was cleared to Lillie Chapman, who was standing 25
yards out and she teed herself up for a "Jamie Redknapp" style
volley that went over the
keeper's head and dipped under the bar to make the final score 12-0.

A disappointing
performance by the Under-13s saw them overcome Northwood, but not
without some problems.
Two
goal Kelly Farace and another strike by top scorer Yasmin Palmer gave
Tottenham the win, but joint manager Alex Cullinan said he would have
hoped for a more cohesive performance. The side did not use the
possession they had to the best effect and also backed off the Northwood
players when they had the ball, allowing them to get a foothold in the
match.
With
tougher matches against the top teams to come, it is hoped that the team
can show some improvement in their consistency to push for the top from
their current fourth position.

Despite
a battling performance, Queens Park Rangers ran out convincing winners
in this top of the table clash.
Spurs
were under pressure for long periods of the match and were unable to
make much from the possession they had, while Rangers punished them
ruthlessly.Showing why
they are second in the table the visitors ran in four goals without
reply, but the Tottenham girls kept competing to the end on a day when
little went right for them.
The Under 13's keep
their championship hopes alive with a convincing 10-1 victory over lowly

Despite having opportunities, Spurs Under
13's had to settle win a 1-1 draw against top of table Luton Town Ladies
FC.
After Luton took the lead in the first
half, Spurs took the game to their opponents and were unlucky on several
occasions. It was left to Bonnie Cullinan to gain Spurs the point
with a 30 yard free kick in the second half, still leaving Spurs in with
a mathematical chance to win the championship with four games left.
