Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U13 5
Denham United U13 0
Home Counties Girl's Football League  - Division 1
The Under-13s were at home to Denham Wildcats for their fifteenth match of the HCGFL.  The game kicked off at 12:30 hrs on a soft/firm pitch.

Spurs Ladies were without Molly Kmita as they kicked off the first half with Kate Mills, Georgia Bruce, Laura Smith and Renata Inniss on the bench.

The chill wind appeared to hinder the movement of the Spurs players for the fist 20 minutes.  In the 15th minute, Denham attempted to clear the ball from a corner kick, only for it to fall to the right foot of Shianne St Louis, who lobbed the ball back over the keeper's head for a 1-0 lead.  Spurs began to find a bit of momentum, but it wasn’t enough to trouble the Denham keeper.

The clouds made way for the sun's rays which seem to energise the Spurs players in the second half.  Whitney Tango scored within the second minute to give Spurs Ladies a two goal cushion and the girls started to string together some good passes which lead to two goals from Laura Smith in the 17th and 21st minute of the second half; the latter being a well directed shot across goal into the right hand corner of the Denham goal.

The defence had some anxious moments, but quelled the attacks from the Wildcats.  The midfield took control to ensure the ball was in the Denham half most of the time and goal number five came from Renata Inniss in 30th minute with a drive from the outside of her right boot to add to Denham’s torture.

18.02.2007
QPR U13 5
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U13 1
Home Counties Girl's Football League   - Division 1

A top of the table clash with QPR ended in an unaccustomed heavy defeat for the Lilywhites.

QPR did their homework with lessons learned from when the two teams met earlier this season.  They exploited a weak Spurs defence with some quick bursts with their attackers and scored two goals in 15 minutes.

Spurs Ladies did not have their normal zest, but managed to string together some passes with some inconsistency.  In the thirtieth minute, Whitney Tango shot at goal from outside the 18-yard box where the goal keeper deliberately handled the ball.  The referee saw it fit to issue a warning to the QPR keeper and awarded a free kick.  Nikki Hunnable took the free kick, but was unable to clear the Rangers keeper.  Daisy O’Sullivan made some good saves to keep the score down to 2-0 at the half time whistle.

Spurs Ladies normally come ‘good’ in the second half and it seem that that was the case when Katie Mills delivered the perfect ball to Whitney Tango, who made the score 2-1.  That glimmer of hope was soon cancelled as Spurs Ladies failed to put any pressure on the QPR defence.

There seem to be a lack of team spirit and motivation missing from the Spurs side, whilst Rangers were eager to win every ball.  Taylor O’Leary was strong in midfield, but when a Spurs attacker made a challenge on goal she was always alone – no support was there to ease the pressure.  Again, Daisy O’Sullivan made some good saves to avoid further embarrassment from her team’s performance.

QPR went further ahead in the 25th minute and then added another two goals in the twenty-ninth and thirtieth minute to seal their convincing 5-1 victory.

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U13 0
Luton Town U13 1
Home Counties Girl's Football League   - Division 1
A single goal separated Luton Town Ladies and Spurs Ladies in this HCGFL match at Fredrick Knight Sports Ground.

Luton Town Ladies took the lead in the fifth minute of the first half from a high ball over the defence on the right wing.

Spurs Ladies did not have the fighting spirit as they showed when the two teams last met, which carried through to the end of the first half.

Luton were solid in defence and made good breaks for most of the second half.  Although Spurs played with a little more zest, they never looked like bringing the scores level despite some near misses from Renata Inniss, Charlotte Dean and Taylor O'Leary.

The last 15 minutes of the second half was their best spell, but Spurs Ladies will have to work just as hard as Luton Town Ladies if they want to stay in contention to win the league.

Hitchin Town Belles U13 0
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U13 9
Home Counties Girl's Football League Cup - Round 2

Spurs Under-13 won their Round 2 tie of the League Cup against Hitchin Town Belles at Ickleford Sports Ground on a sunny but breezy afternoon.

The squad was without goalkeeper Daisy O’Sullivan; striker Laura Smith and defender Molly Kmita, but showed good spirit and although the Spurs Ladies were slowly out of their starting blocks, they eventually broke the dead lock with two goals from Hannah Lyons in the 20th and 25th minutes.

Ten minutes later, Rosie Kmita increased the lead to 3-0.  The goal keeping role was shared by Charlotte Dean and Renata Inniss.  Hannah Lyons was unlucky not to get a hat-trick in her left wing role as she hit the side netting on two further occasions.

The second half goal keeping chore was shared between Ayse Mustafa and Shianne St Louis. The team stepped up a gear from the first half and although not playing to the best of their ability, they stamped their authority on the mach. A hat-trick from Renata Inniss; two goals from Whitney Tango and another from Taylor O’Leary gave Spurs Ladies a warm up for the remaining matches of the season.

Home Counties Girl's Football League  - Division 1
Spurs Ladies U13 came away with a win on an afternoon of blustery winds against St. Albans City Youth U13 at Greenwood Park.

Ayse Mustafa wore the number 1 shirt for most of the first half in the absence of goalkeeper Daisy O’Sullivan.  Shianne St. Louis was also absent.

Georgia Bruce (left wing) and Nikki Hunnable (right wing) were busy trying to contend with the wind on a sloping pitch. Taylor O’Leary was busy winning the ball in midfield with support from Charlotte Dean and Katie Mills.

Spurs first goal came in the 30th minute of the game in the shape of Whitney Tango.  Olivia Keown, Rosie Kmita and Harley Keenlyside very busy trying to quell the odd attack from the St. Albans offence.  A heavy hail shower followed the whistle for the end of the first half.

The second half kicked off with Laura Smith in goal.  Harley Keenlyside got in some strong tackles to thwart the St. Albans offense, whilst Hannah Lyons made some good runs down the left wing to keep the pressure on the St. Albans defence.  St Albans managed to mount a couple of attacks toward the Spurs goal, but were blocked by Olivia Keown and Rosie Kmita.

In the twentieth minute, Renata Inniss received the ball from Hannah Lyons outside the18 yard box where she dribbled through two defenders to score Spurs' second goal.  Shots from Nikki Hunnable and Taylor O’Leary brought about saves from the St Albans keeper before Whitney Tango collected the ball in midfield outside the 18 yard box, turned her opponent and netted her second and Spurs third after 32 minutes of the second half.

Two minutes later Nikki Hunnable delicately tapped the ball into the St Albans net with her left foot for a 4-0 lead.

Not a bad performance by Spurs Ladies considering the terrible weather conditions in which the match was played.

Home Counties Girl's Football League Cup - Quarter final
The venue for the Quarter-final of the League cup between Luton Town Ladies and Spurs Ladies was Fredrick Knight Sports Ground.  The pitch was firm and the weather sunny with a slight chill. The game kicked off at 10:45hrs.

Spurs Ladies almost went ahead in the first two minutes of the game and signalled their attacking intentions to Luton Town.  Three minutes later Tottenham took the lead from a right foot drive from Whitney Tango.  Luton gave the Spurs Ladies food for thought as they made some good breaks through midfield, but were eventually foiled by the Spurs defence.  A very exciting first half, in which Spurs Ladies had had another three chances of going further ahead but failed to score, closed with it all to play for in the second period.

In the second half, Luton Town Ladies were solid in defence and made good breaks keeping Daisy O’Sullivan alert, as she was quick off her line to clear the ball from the Spurs penalty area.  Both teams played some excellent football and it was good to see Spurs Ladies back into the winning habit.

Spurs Ladies worked just as hard as Luton Town Ladies, but there can only be one winner in a knock-out match and fortunately, on this occasion, it was Tottenham who triumphed.  Well done to both sides on a marvellous cup-tie.

The return match in the HCGFL against Ridgeway Rovers was played at the Peter May Sports Ground.  The match kicked off at 13:55hrs on a bright and sunny day.

Spurs Ladies was off to a slow start but took the lead through Whitney Tango in the thirteenth minute.  Ridgeway Rovers had little chance of keeping possession of the ball which gave Spurs Ladies the time to slowly get into a rhythm.  Ayse Mustafa scored Spurs second goal in the 25th minute and Nikki Hunnable added Spurs third in the 30th minute.

Spurs Ladies began to step up a gear in the second half but it took 15minutes before Nikki Hunnable scored her second goal and Spurs fourth.  Shianne St Louis kept goal whilst Daisy O’Sullivan played up front.

Spurs Ladies began to put together some good passes and touches which kept Ridgeway Rovers busy in their own half.  Goal number five came from Renata Inniss in the 17th minute. The next eighteen minutes was more trouble for Ridgeway Rovers as Spurs netted another five goals through Laura Smith; Daisy O’Sullivan (2 goals) Charlotte Dean and Whitney Tango.

Spurs Ladies did not reach the seventeen goal target of the first match, but they could have easily scored twenty goals.

Home Counties Girl's Football League U13 Cup - Semi-final
Spurs Ladies U13 rallied to win the semi-final cup match against St Albans City Youth U13 at Greenwood Park.

Any questions of St. Albans City Youth giving way to the might of Spurs Ladies were soon answered as the home side took the lead after 15 minutes of play.

The thought of being a goal down seemed to inject some inspiration into the Spurs team.

In the 20th minute, Georgia Bruce ran from an on-side position and netted the ball off the rebound from the St Albans goalkeeper, but she was adjudged off-side and the goal was disallowed.  Five minutes later, Laura Smith scored the equaliser for Tottenham.  Spurs the went ahead in the 25th minute through Laura's second goal of the game, but it was cancelled out three minutes later as St. Albans levelled match at 2-2.

Spurs kept the pressure on the St. Albans defenders, where a penalty was awarded for hand-ball in the 18 yard box. Laura Smith volunteered and executed the perfect penalty for her and Spurs' third goal.

Now with the bit between their teeth, Tottenham began the second half with more vigour than they displayed in the first period.

Spurs could have easily forged further ahead with three more goals, but were thwarted by some excellent saves by the St. Albans goalkeeper.  After 50minutes of play, some feisty work by Rosie Kmita was rewarded with a long range shot which lobbed the St. Albans goalkeeper.

Spurs Ladies put together some good passes which kept the ball mostly in the St. Albans half for the next twenty minutes and although City Youth made a few breaks towards the Spurs goal, the defence managed to survive on a just-in-time situation.

In the end it was a good come back by Spurs Ladies who eventually managed to smile after the final whistle was blown.

A strong QPR team were more than a match for Spurs Ladies Under-13 side, who struggled to cope with their dynamic opponents.

Tottenham started slowly and were caught by two similar moves in the middle of the first half that gave Rangers a 2-0 lead.

A better performance in the second half saw the QPR keeper brought into action and although the Spurs goal was narrowly missed by a few shots, Nikki Hunnable came the closest to scoring for Tottenham with a thunderous 25 yard free-kick that rattled the post right at the end of the game.

End of Season Friendly Tour
Spurs Ladies visited Carrow Road to play a friendly 9-a-side match against Norwich City Girls Centre of Excellence.  The match consisted of 3 x 20 minute sessions on a seven-a-side size Astro-turf pitch, with slight overcast and drizzles.

The first session kicked off at 2:00pm with Daisy O’Sullivan; Harley Keenlyside; Katie Mills; Hannah Lyons; Ayse Mustafa; Renata Inniss; Georgia Bruce; Nikki Hunnable and Shianne St Louis.

Spurs conceded a goal in the first three minutes from a long range shot which flew into the left corner of the net, with the Spurs keeper having no chance of getting a finger tip on the ball.  As the match progress, Spurs Ladies began to find their feet and became more competitive for the remaining 17 minutes.

The second session kicked off with Daisy O’Sullivan; Molly Kmita; Rosie Kmita; Hannah Lyons; Ayse Mustafa; Renata Inniss; Charlotte Dean; Nikki Hunnable and Shianne St Louis

Again Norwich City Girls drew first blood, but that was soon cancelled two minutes later from a low shot in front of goal by Ayse Mustafa.  In the fifth minute Renata Inniss rifled a shot across the Norwich City goal into the left corner of the net for a 2-1 lead.  From a throw in six minutes later by Ayse Mustafa, Renata Inniss headed the ball into the Norwich City net for her second and Spurs' third goal.  Spurs Ladies were now in their zone – passing the ball and finding space to compete against the passing skills of the Norwich City Girls.

In the 15th minute Renata saw her shot parried by the Norwich keeper only to find Rosie Kmita’s head to give Spurs Ladies a two goal cushion.  Some strong defending and ball winning attacks paid dividends in the eighteenth minute when Renata scored her third goal for a Spurs 5-2 lead.

The third and final session kicked of with Daisy O’Sullivan; Molly Kmita; Rosie Kmita; Harley Keenlyside; Katie Mills; Ayse Mustafa; Renata Inniss in goal; Charlotte Dean and Georgia Bruce.

Ayse Mustafa put Spurs one up after five minutes, but was substituted by Shianne St Louis five minutes later.  A determined Norwich City Girls CoE side levelled the scores after 15 minutes and then forged ahead three minutes later.  Two good saves from Renata Inniss denied the Norwich attack from going further ahead, but then Spurs Ladies got their equaliser through Katie Mills who drove the ball into the left corner of the Norwich net from 18 yards out on the right wing in the 19th minute.

It was a game of quality football from both sides in which Spurs Ladies were enjoying and rose to the challenge set by Norwich City Girls.

Spurs Ladies visited Portman Road to play a friendly 9-a-side match against Ipswich Town Girls Centre of Excellence. The match consisted of 3 x 30 minute sessions on a seven-a-side size Astro-turf pitch, with slightly overcast and drizzly conditions.

The first session kicked off at 10:00am with Daisy O’Sullivan; Molly Kmita; Rosie Kmita; Katie Mills; Ayse Mustafa; Renata Inniss; Charlotte Dean; Georgia Bruce and Nikki Hunnable.

It was a well contested first session with both sides evenly matched.  Daisy O’Sullivan had to make three good saves whilst the Ipswich keeper quelled the attacks from Nikki Hunnable, Ayse Mustafa and Katie Mills.  The dead lock was broken in the 30th minute when Renata Inniss gave Spurs a 1-0 lead.

The second session kicked off with Daisy O’Sullivan; Molly Kmita; Rosie Kmita; Harley Keenlyside; Hannah Lyons; Renata Inniss; Charlotte Dean; Georgia Bruce and Shianne St Louis

This session was another closely fought contest with neither side really penetrating the opposing defence.  Hannah Lyons delivered some precise corner kicks, but the Ipswich defence were on hand to clear them.  Good determination on both sides saw the session ending goalless.

The third and final session kicked of with Daisy O’Sullivan; Rosie Kmita; Harley Keenlyside; Katie Mills; Hannah Lyons; Ayse Mustafa; Renata Inniss in goal; Nikki Hunnable and Shianne St Louis.

Nikki Hunnable put Spurs Ladies one up after two minutes with a low drive inside the 18yard box.  Another closely contested session saw shots going wide of both goals.  Ipswich Town made some good attacks on the Spurs defence, but each time the Spurs defence stood their ground and was supported by the midfield.

Daisy O’Sullivan made her presence felt as a forward and almost produced a goal.  Again two good saves from Renata Inniss denied the Ipswich attack from equalising and going ahead.  Nikki Hunnable got her second goal to give Spur Ladies a 2-0 lead in the 23rd minute.

It was another excellent performance by Spurs Ladies against a disciplined Ipswich Town Girls team. It was a good way to end the season
