Another sunny Sunday and the Under 13s
girls were up for this top of the table clash.
The first 15 minutes were very close
with both sides battling for the ball. Enfield has some big clearances
and some great throw-ins putting Spurs under pressure at the back but
Laney and the back four were solid and showed great teamwork working
together and passing the ball back to the midfield. The midfield were
working hard up and down the pitch and a great through ball from Lucy
saw Ellis out run three defenders before smashing the ball past the
goalie and scoring the first goal of the game. The girls didn’t let
their concentration slip and carried on playing and fighting for every
ball. Tommy-Jo scored a great second goal after the goalie could do
nothing about her strike with the outside of her foot to curve the ball
in the back of the net.
The half time whistle went but last
years champions weren’t giving up without a fight and Spurs knew they
would be in for a equally tough second half. It was end to end stuff
with Enfield’s best chances coming from their dangerous corners. They
scrambled a goal over the line to make it 1-2 but Spurs never lost their
team spirit and continued to press for another goal. They won most of
the tackles and as the game went on their confidence and passing went
from strength to strength and when the whistle went for the end of the
game the girls looked as if they wanted to play on.
In Conclusion: A thoroughly deserved
victory and the best team performance of the season so far. Every player
worked so hard either in their position or helping their team mate out
and a never give up attitude.

It was the first time this year the sun
was shining on a Sunday morning and this added to the good team spirit
for the Under-13s. It was lovely to have Shauna and Lara back and
hopefully Courteney and Emily will be fully fit soon.
Spurs hit the ground running today and
quick passing from midfield to Ellis who passed to Nell who scored on
virtually her first touch. It wasn’t long before Ellis got on the score
sheet after a Tommy-Jo pass which she took in her stride and slotted the
ball in the net. The girls were all on fine form and Shauna picked the
ball up in midfield and went on a run dribbling past three players
before scoring a great goal. Georgia F was busy on the right and passing
to the ball to Ellis who went past the defender to put Spurs 4-0 up.
Harvester’s never gave up going forward and were rewarded with a goal
just before half time.
The subs were all on for the second half
and it continued as the first half ended with goals from both teams.
Spurs were playing the passing game to the maximum as Alice passed to
Becks to Ellis to Lucy to Tommy-Jo who twisted round and fired home to
make it five. Harvesters cleared the ball from the next Spurs attack and
shot from distance into the corner of the net which gave Laney no chance
to save. Tommy-Jo’s free kick was saved but only to Ellis who scored her
hat trick. Lara was getting back her fitness and went on a fantastic run
before passing to Ellis who shrugged off the defender before putting the
ball past the goalie. Becks went up front and passed to Lucy who scored
to make it 8-0. Ellis passed to Becks who had a grin from ear to ear
after scoring her goal. Laney swapped shirts with Lauren and went on a
few runs with the grit and determination she shows in goal every week.
Whenever Harvesters cleared their goal lines the defence were always
alert ready to bring the ball down and pass to the midfield ready for
the next attack. Tommy-Jo picked the ball up from midfield and after
using her left foot she set the ball up on her right for her second goal
of the game. Harvesters scored a good goal from a corner but there could
have been more goals before the final whistle went.
In Conclusion: A terrific fast paced game
with plenty of goals and the smiles on the girls faces showed they
enjoyed it as much as the spectators.

Home Counties Girl's Football
League U14 Cup - Round 1 |
|
The team were light on numbers today as
Courteney Brown is recovering from her knee operation, Lara Harris’
fractured wrist, Megan Jones was ill, Shauna Lawless had a family
emergency and Georgia Flaherty was also unavailable but the rest of the
team were up for the game and in good spirits before kick off.
Spurs kicked off and started well passing
the ball around with accuracy. Lauren Howland picked the ball up
and hit a line ball to Nell Humes, who went round a defender and hit an
inch perfect ball to Ellis Lunn, who outrun the defender and drove the
ball past the goalkeeper. The game continued at a high tempo and
the next goal came from a Tommy-Jo Holloway pass to Ellis, who, even
though had the goalie diving at her feet, managed to slot the ball home
from the tightest of angles.
Hampstead came back at Spurs and an ankle
injury to Rosa Gamble saw her leave the pitch and was unfortunately
unable to play any further part in the game. With the girls having
to play the rest of the match 10 v 11 and giving a year and a higher
division away it was game on. Lucy Pelton dropped back into centre
defence and Nell partnered Tommy in midfield. The girls were still
adjusting when Hampstead scored after a goal mouth scramble before the
referee blew for half time.
The second half saw Nell continue with
her great setups as she passed to Tommy-Jo, who made no mistake with her
shot and put Spurs 3-1 up. Hampstead game back and scored on a
break, it was end to end stuff.
Lucy was adjusting to her new role and
just as she does in midfield she cleared the ball to Ellis, who hammered
the ball in the back of the net, which was definitely the goal of the
day and gave the goalie no chance at all. At 4-2 the girls were
still going for the fifth, but Hampstead hadn’t given up and a high ball
to the back post saw Laney save it, but couldn’t stop Hampstead from
scoring on the rebound.
With the momentum swinging back to
Hampstead they were going full out and the extra person paid dividends
as they equalised. Spurs didn’t give up and fought for every ball.
Emily Tibbs was great on the right from taking on players one minute to
tracking back and defending with Georgia O'Donnell, who even with a
swollen ankle never gave up, the next. Laney was in command in
goal and having one of her bravest game yet. Alice Simmonds put in a
solid performance herself and had her eyes on her back four and
Hampstead attack at all times.
Lucy was fighting for every ball that was
close and Lauren was clearing the ball on the left to keep up the
attacks. Tommy-Jo and Nell had a tough job in midfield tracking up and
down in what was now a complete mud bath in the centre of the pitch but
they never stopped running and tackling. Becks Mills put in some
good runs on the left and some of the toughest tackles all over the
pitch. Ellis chased and fought for every ball up front.
When the full time whistle blew the girls
were exhausted, but Ross and Cristina gave them a pep talked that lifted
them to a new level. They played well in the first part of extra time
and started to dominate before the half was over. A quick change of ends
saw Spurs start the half where they finished and after twisting and
turning in the penalty area Ellis created some space to shoot and score.
This lifted the girls and they were still passing to each other and
creating chances up to the last minute, which couldn’t come quickly
enough for the parents.
In Conclusion: A fantastic game to watch
against a good Hampstead team. The girls fought for every ball from the
start of the game to the final whistle. They showed what terrific
footballers with the best team spirit they have become.

It was a windy Sunday morning and the
Spurs Ladies Under-13 team had a new supporter complete with a fractured
wrist all ready to scream from the touchlines. Everyone wishes Lara a
speedy recovery.
Spurs started attacking from the first
whistle and even on a very narrow pitch managed to find acres of space
to pass the ball to each other. Tommy-Jo Holloway and Nell Humes were
having plenty of shooting practice. The first goal came from a terrific
shot from Nell, which the goalie managed to get a hand to before
Courteney Brown came out of nowhere to put the ball in the back of the
net.
Nell doubled the lead after a lovely
pass from Becks Mills down the left wing which she then raced onto and
slid the ball into the bottom corner giving the goalie no chance.
Lucy and Tommy-Jo dominated the midfield and when the ball was cleared
over them Megan Jones and Alice had complete control of the defence.
The advantage of the narrow pitch encouraged the girls to have many
shots but the lower than normal goals kept the score-line to a minimum
at half time.
The second half started with Ellis Lunn,
Rosa Gamble and Georgia Flaherty coming on for Courteney, Emily Tibbs
and Alice Simmonds and it wasn’t long before Tommy hit the post.
Hampstead tried to set their strikers up from long ball forwards, but
Laney was saving everything especially the high balls.
A quick thinking throw from Laney to
Georgia F saw her take a run up the pitch before putting a great ball
through to Ellis who finished with style. Nell and Becks combined
before passing to Tommy-Jo, who floated a ball in the box for Lucy
Pelton, who thumped the ball in the back of the net on her second
attempt.
Georgia O'Donnell and Lauren kept
feeding the balls along the wings to the midfield of Emily, Lucy and
Georgia F to keep the constant pressure up on Hampstead. Tommy-Jo
hit the post again, then shot over the bar and after going past three
defenders with just the goalie to beat, she managed to put the ball
wide, but she was finally rewarded with her well deserved goal to make
it 6-0.
A great attacking performance on a
smaller pitch under windy conditions with the relaxed and confident
defence a good back-up.

It made a change to have a home match for
the Under-13s in the HCGFL, but it was a bitterly cold morning at Fred
Knights.
St. Albans got off to a good start with a
hit and hope shot that looked to be going wide, but bounced over Laney's
head into the goal. The girls never panicked and it wasn’t long before
they were on equal terms after a great individual goal from Ellis, who
went past three players using her left then right feet before sliding
the ball into the corner.
Unfortunately, Ellis went off with a knee
injury which saw Courteney step into the action. Shortly afterwards,
Courteney took the ball from the halfway line and with determination and
skill went easily passed the defence and scored a great goal.
From then on it was an open game of
football, which is just what the Spurs girls love. St. Albans broke a
couple of times but the back four were passing the ball out of trouble
and a couple of corners saw Laney hold onto to some low driven shots.
Lucy hit a perfect ball to Courteneys feet who looked up and saw Nell on
the move and passed the ball right where she wanted it and Nell did not
hesitate and a terrific shot saw the ball in the back of the net for the
third time.
At half time Megan, Lauren and Emily came
on, but Spurs kept up the momentum from the first half. The girls
were clearly enjoying the game and Lara had some space on the left and
went on her best run of the season. She went past four opposing
players and looked to be going for goal, until she unselfishly passed to
Nell who returned the favour to Courteney, who finished off the move in
style with her second goal of the game. Both sides were determined to
play good football and Lucy and Emily were passing back and forth down
the right with a great cross to Nell, who, after dummying the goalie on
her first shot, made no mistake on her second.
St. Albans got a consolation goal from a
corner in the last few minutes which was a reward for their passing
game.
A totally deserved victory after
dominating the possession and the passing was excellent throughout,
finishing with some well struck goals.

After last weeks’ 5-5 game against
Potters Bar, the Spurs girls knew what to expect with a repeat fixture,
in what turned out to be both an exhilarating but nail-biting match (for
the supporters anyway!)
With Georgia O'Donnell unwell today,
Spurs ladies Under-13s welcomed back Tommy-Jo Holloway, Georgia Flaherty
and Courteney Brown. Both teams knew that a win would put them at the
top of the table so it was all to play for.
Potters Bar looked to score first when
the ball flashed across the six yard box but Laney stood her ground and
stopped them scoring. It wasn’t long before, in what looked like a
repeat of last week, Ellis Lunn got hold of the ball on the wing and
sped past her defenders but this time couldn’t get a shot off. With her
playing as a lone striker Potters Bar had three players marking her to
stop her scoring. Lauren Howland worked hard in midfield, with Lucy
bringing down every high ball with perfect precision and Tommy-Jo
Holloway doing what she does best and stealing balls from the
opposition’s feet. The Potters Bar defenders were happy to block and
clear all the through balls but this didn’t stop the girls from playing
their normal passing game. The defenders were determined not to let
Potters Bar score and Rosa Gamble’s speed was no match for the
opposition. Alice stayed relaxed, passing the ball out of defence into
the midfields feet. Megan Jones was reading the game well and clearing
it to safety whenever Potters Bar threatened. Becks Mills was helping
the play in attack and defending set plays when needed, while Emily
Tibbs worked hard winning the wide balls taking the ball down the wing
with the opposition hot on her heels. Just before half time a hand-ball
gave Potters Bar a free kick just outside the penalty area, but Laney
organised her wall and with the ball goal-bound she put in a great save
keeping the score nil-nil. Shauna Lawless came on and immediately
started causing her opponents problems with her movement off the ball.
In a repeat of last week, the match was again very physical but Spurs
stood their ground this week and the first half finished with the game
at a stale-mate.
The second half kicked off with
Courteney Brown flying down the right wing, Georgia Flaherty had a great
game winning the battles on the left and linking up with Nell Humes, who
had joined Ellis up front. Spurs were now looking the stronger team and
started to create lots more chances with shots being saved, going
agonisingly past the post and even over the cross bar. It looked like
one of the days when the ball just wasn’t going in the net.
The game continued end to end, keeping
both goalies on their toes but with just 15 minutes left on the clock,
both teams were still unable to find the net. Ellis had to leave the
pitch injured and Shauna moved up to play up front with Nell, but not
five minutes later, it was Nell who went down injured and she too had to
come off and Lucy Pelton moved up to join Shauna. With tensions high on
the pitch, Spurs continued to battle and the girls kept their heads and
played football as only they know how, passing well and making the most
of every opportunity. With Spurs yet again in possession, Tommy Jo on
the edge of the box, passed the ball into a very crowded penalty area
but Lucy got hold of it, and despite being surrounded by Potters Bar
players, performed some very nifty footwork and managed a left-footed
shot into the bottom corner of the goal, giving Spurs the much deserved
lead. With just five minutes left to play, Potters Bar were desperate
to equalise and it took some determined defending from Spurs to keep
their lead and despite a long distance shot from Potters Bar which
ricocheted off the cross bar, the whistle finally blew with the score
unchanged, giving Spurs the full well-deserved three points.
In conclusion, a close game with a
great team performance.

A windier but warmer climate for today’s game which saw
Spurs Ladies Under-13s travel to Potter Bar without Courteney Brown,
Georgia Flaherty and Tommy-Jo Holloway.
Spurs dominated the first 20 minutes with a great display
of passing the ball all over the pitch. The first goal game from deep in
the Spurs half. Lara Harris took a throw-in to Alice Simmonds who passed
it straight back, Lara went past a player and fed a great ball to Shauna
Lawless, who laid the ball off for Ellis Lunn to run through and score.
Lucy Pelton was getting stuck in in the middle of the park and she shook
off her markers and hit a wicked shot on goal which the goalie failed to
hold and the ball ended up in the back of the net. Becks Mills had a
right battle on the left side but got passed her opponent and Emily
Tibbs was doing the same on the right to feed the ball back to the
attackers. The third goal came from a Nell Humes run and pass to Shauna
who switched the play to Becks who fed the ball through to Ellis to hit
home for her second goal of the game and Spurs third. Megan Jones and
Lauren Howland came on and settled into the action. Potters Bar started
to get into the game and a penalty from a handball saw them get off the
mark. Laney dived the right way but was just unable to keep the ball
out. After some pressing from Potters Bar on the stroke of half time
they scored from a corner, which made the score 3-2.
The second half started with Potters Bar still high from
their late first half goal following up on a good Laney save to score
into an empty net. 3-3 game on. Spurs never gave up and with
their fighting spirit and passing game saw a good move from Nell going
round a couple of players and finishing with a great goal. It was now
end to end stuff and another good corner from Potters Bar saw the score
level at 4-4. Georgia O'Donnell, Rosa Gamble, Lara and Alice were
defending so well but there was nothing they could do when the tall
Potters Bar player headed the ball from yet another corner in the roof
of the net. Spurs never gave up and with only a minute left to play
Ellis scored her third and most important goal of the game.
In conclusion, neither team deserved to lose in this end
to end exciting game even if it was a stressful game for the spectactors.
It was the passing game against the physical game and the girls showed
grit and determination from the start of the game to the final whistle.

Today Spurs Ladies travelled the short
distance to play Enfield Rangers for the third time this season. It was
their first match of the New Year and with no match since mid December
the girls were eager to play after such a long break. With just Becks
and Alice unavailable to play today the rest of the girls lined up on a
very frosty pitch.
The game kicked off to a very slow
start. Perhaps the girls had had too much turkey over Christmas but
they couldn’t find their usual flow and at times it looked as if Enfield
Rangers might use this to their advantage, making the break up the pitch
a couple of times, however the Spurs defence stood strong and ensured
they didn’t get through. Finally, following a long ball back up the
field from Lara, it found Ellis Lunn waiting up front who wasted no time
in getting her first goal of the game. Despite this, the game remained
lacklustre and this continued until the half time whistle, with Spurs
still in the lead following another goal from Ellis assisted by
Courteney Brown.
The second half kicked off and suddenly
Spurs remembered their game and once this happened the goals started
coming with Ellis completing her hat-trick chasing a through ball and
leaving the defenders in her wake. Goal number four came from a similar
pattern with Courteney chasing the ball and putting it in the net and
then one from Tommy Jo Holloway who with the penalty area crowded with
players, picked up the ball on the edge of the box and put it over the
keepers head for goal number five. Ellis was next to score adding
another to her tally.
Emily got on the score sheet next with
her first of the season. Following a well-fought battle for the ball
between Ellis and her opponents, she then crossed the ball into a
waiting Emily Tibbs who was positioned in front of the goal and slotted
it perfectly past the keeper. Ellis scored her fifth of the game and
goal number nine came from Lauren Howland, another first of the season,
who took full advantage of a fumble by the keeper and got her foot to it
in the air to put it behind the keeper and into the net. With the game
finishing at 0-9 to Spurs, Laney had kept a clean sheet, and Spurs took
the three points available. A good start to the year.
Despite the slow start, once the girls
got going they played some good football. It was a good warm up for the
girls with some hard matches over the next few weeks. Again full credit
goes to Enfield Rangers for keeping their heads up and continuing to
play their game despite the score-line.

A
freezing Sunday afternoon for the girls but they were well prepared for
the tough game ahead. Nell Humes and Emily Tibbs got the game going by
making some great runs down the wings taking on the opposition at every
opportunity. Lucy won some good battles in the midfield and fed the ball
threw to Ellis who through on goal, placed the ball in the back of the
net. The back four of Lara Harris, Alice Simmonds, Megan Jones and
Georgia O'Donnell were a tight unit always ready to back each other up
and an in form Laney between the sticks. A couple more close calls with
the ball going just the wrong side of the post kept the score at 1-0
going into half time.
Becks
Mills and Lauren Howland came on and had no time to settle with the pace
of the game so fast. After half time Enfield started strong and were
going for the equalizer and it wasn’t long before Enfield put the ball
in the net. Spurs stepped up a gear and a fantastic strike from Shauna
Lawless hit the post which Tommy-Jo Holloway followed up on to put the
girls 2-1 up.
The
defence and midfield held firm as what seemed to be corner after corner.
From yet another corner Enfield were sure they had scored but Georgia
O'Donnell came out of nowhere to clear the ball off the line. Georgia
Flaherty and Courteney Brown came on and were immediately involved in an
attacking move which saw Tommy-Jo about to shoot before an Enfield
player brought her down for a penalty. She stood up and with a
great strike gave the goalie no chance and the girls continued to pass
the ball around until the final whistle and a result to take them to the
top of the table.
In
conclusion, this was a fantastic team effort with everybody on the pitch
passing, tackling and helping each other out, we were a very proud bunch
of spectators.

best weather conditions for today's Under-13s home match against
Harvesters, but the girls seemed to love the rain and mud.
Laney
was ill today, so Lauren Howland stepped up to have her first game in
goal of the season, which she did very well. Spurs were off to
another quick start with their terrific passing game. It wasn’t
long before their passing paid off with Nell Humes starting the move
before finding Tommy-Jo Holloway, who passed to Becks Mills, who found
Shauna Lawless, who put a lovely ball through to Ellis, whose shot
rebounded off the crossbar kindly for Shauna to open the scoring.
Nell
was excellent down the right, finding Ellis who put Tommy-Jo in for her
first goal of the game. The same trio linked up again, but, this
time, it was Tommy-Jo who started the move, passing to Nell, who passed
back to Ellis for her first goal.
Tottenham's fourth goal was an individual goal from Nell, taking the
ball down the right, then cutting in for a great end to the run which
saw the ball in the back of the net again.
Harvesters seemed to get going and it wasn’t long before their striker
was through, only to find Rosa Gamble speed up a gear and tackle the
player and prevent a certain one on one with Lauren. Again
Harvesters broke and after an initial good save from Lauren, the ball
fell kindly to their striker who scored into an open goal.
The
girls continued with their free flowing football and Lucy Pelton went on
a determined run before passing to Ellis who took her goal well. Spurs
didn’t let up on the pace and Tommy-Jo went round two players before
shooting over the goalie's head who didn’t stand a chance for her second
of the game. The rain continued to fall as the half finished with
a well deserved 6-1 to Spurs.
The
second half saw Ellis get her hat-trick after taking the ball down the
wing from the halfway line and not giving the goalie a chance with a
great goal. Georgia Flaherty had the ball in the back of a net, but it
was unfortunately disallowed for offside. Shauna finished off a great
performance with her second goal of the game. The second half was a
quieter game as Harvesters defended well and Spurs relaxed on the ball.
Congratulations to the whole team for another good result in not the
best of conditions.

It was
the first frosty morning game and with an early start at Regents Park it
was good to have Megan Jones back after her broken arm.
The
girls were quick out of the block and scored with Lara Harris passing to
Ellis Lunn, who put Courteney Brown through to score her first league
goal. It wasn’t long before Tommy-Jo Holloway saw her shot from
distance too strong for the goalkeeper to save and it hit the back of
the net.
Emily
Tibbs was having a good battle down the right wing. Not one to miss out
up front, Ellis Lunn fired home after a good run.
Spurs
were dominating the game with good passing from defence to attack.
Rebecca Mills was linking well with Lara and Alice Simmonds on the left
wing. The next goal saw Ellis pass to Courteney, who took her second
goal well. The girls took their feet off the pedal, which saw Hampstead
come back with two quick goals before half time before Lauren Howland
and Georgia O'Donnell kept the Hampstead attack pinned back.
The
second half saw the team change around with all of the subs coming on to
get involved in the action. Nell Humes continued the good work with some
great runs down the right wing with Georgia Flaherty combining with the
midfield on the left wing. Shauna Lawless timed her pass to
Courteney to perfection and the striker put the ball away for her first
Spurs hat trick.
Megan
settled back into the defence after her six weeks out working well with
Rosa Gamble. Lucy Pelton’s consistently great corners were awarded
with a goal from one. Shauna again linked up with the strikers and
passed to Tommy-Jo who scored her second of the game.
The
last goal of the match showed off the girls passing game with Laney
kicking out to Lucy, who went past a couple of players before passing to
Ellis who continued the move to score her second of the game.
Hampstead changed their goalie in the second half and pulled off some
great saves.
In
conclusion, an excellent team performance with everybody contributing
from the goalkeeper to the strikers.

On a
miserable wet day at Tottenham, and following a couple of defeats the
girls of the Spurs ladies Under-13s seemed in a more determined and
confident mood.
With a good
shot on goal in the early few seconds, it was a sign of things to come.
The first goal came from Tommy Jo Holloway, the goalie got a hand on it,
but it wasn’t enough to stop it going in the back of the net.
Further
goals in the first half came from Ellis Lunn (on her left foot !) and a
third from Tommy Jo. Just before half time Ellis and Shauna came
off for Lauren and Courteney Brown.
The fourth
goal came from Lucy with a fifth starting from Emily Tibbs passing to
Courteney, with Tommy Jo finishing well to make it five. Lucy finished
off the first half with a cracker of a sixth goal.
At the start
of the second half, with Bex Mills coming on for Nell Humes, it wasn’t
long before Bex was on the score sheet with a cross from Courteney
hitting a 7th goal. Another followed quickly by Alice
cutting a ball through Enfield’s defence to find Courtney’s feet - goal
number 8.
Tommy Jo
followed with a 9th and Shauna with a 10th on her
left foot ! Emily came off injured (We hope she is OK) and Nell
replaced her. Lara came all the way from defence to score goal
no.11 and Shauna quickly followed with no 12 and finally just before the
full time whistle Nell scored number 13.
There were
some good performances ... too many to mention ... including Georgia and
a clean sheet from Rebecca Lane

Spurs Ladies Under-13s
entertained league leaders Enfield Town without the services of the
still injured Megan Jones. Enfield started the better of the two sides,
however it was Spurs who fashioned the first chance of note on five
minutes when Alice Simmonds and Rebecca Mills combined before finding
Ellis Lunn, who saw her shot saved.
Four minutes later Rebecca
Lane had to be on hand to make a good save from an Enfield attacker.
The visitors continued to apply pressure to the Spurs goal and it was
not entirely surprising when they took the lead on 12 minutes. Their
lead was doubled on 22 minutes when a Spurs player had the misfortune to
put through her own goal under pressure from an Enfield attacker.
The Spurs players were quick
to console their team mate and got down to getting back into the game.
Three minutes later Ellis had a shot saved and on the half hour Tommy-Jo
Holloway fired just wide of the post. Two minutes before the
break Spurs were back in the game when Tommy-Jo shot over the keeper
from the edge of the penalty area to make the half time score 1-2 to
Enfield.
Spurs had much the better
start to the second half. First Ellis had a shot saved by the
Enfield keeper before Tommy-Jo broke through the Enfield defence only to
see her shot saved. This was pivotal to the game as a minute
later, on 45 minutes, Enfield broke from a throw-in and scored, against
the run of play, to make the score 1-3.
The Spurs players heads
dropped slightly at this point and Enfield wrapped up the game on 50
minutes after turning and firing past Rebecca Lane in the Spurs goal.
Five minutes from time,
Emily Tibbs broke down the right flank and won a corner. The
resulting corner found Shauna Lawless who saw her shot saved. The
referee called time shortly afterwards with the final score 1-4 to
Enfield.
Unlucky to the girls who had
spells of dominance during the game. The final score-line did not
fully reflect this. The girls kept at it even with the game
seemingly beyond them and will win many more games than they will lose
this season playing this way.
