Spurs started the game with only nine players and were on the back foot from the start. Harvesters scored after some end to end play, but a good run from Leesa Shields into the Harvesters box led to a shot that went just wide. Shortly afterwards, Harvesters broke to score again. A late Tottenham player arrived, but Spurs were still with only 10 players. In the second half, a good run by Leesa finished with a shot on goal that was saved by the keeper and a little later Leesa took a free kick from near the half-way line that was homing in on goal, only for the keeper to make a great save again. Within minutes Harvesters scored their third, but Spurs never gave up and battled well, with Sophie Petros having a great shot at goal only to narrowly miss. The girls were unable to pull a goal back and the game finished 3-0 to Harvesters. COURTENEY GOODMAN |

A second half comeback by the visitors left Spurs without any reward for a solid first half showing in this HGFL clash. Just over half an hour of the game had gone when Leesa Shields played in a corner to the near post and Lauren Taylor-Marks caused confusion and got the final touch to force the ball over the line for the opening goal. This was followed six minutes later, when Patrizia Leo opened her Spurs account with a shot from the edge of the area that beat the dive of the keeper after a corner had been scrambled away. 2-0 up at the break, Bedwell came out with attacking intent in the second half and within three minutes of the half, a corner unfortunately glanced off Leesa's head and into her own net. On 42 minutes, a breakaway by Rangers ended with a lob over Ricole Vyse to level things up. With just five minutes remaining, Bedwell took the points with a third goal shot home from the edge of the area that skidded in off the wet turf. |

Tottenham's League Cup campaign started disappointingly with a home defeat by Watford. A goal in each half condemned Spurs to a loss, but Ryah Vyse came close to levelling things with a header form a corner in the second half, demanding that the Hornets keeper make a good save. Goalkeeper Ricole Vyse then sustained an injury to her leg, before Watford added a late second to secure the win. |

A tough task lay ahead for the depleted Spurs team, who were soon down to eight players and 0-6 behind at the break. In a defiant show of "against all odds" courage, the girls hit back in the second half, which was drawn 2-2, scoring through Sophie Petros and Stavroulla Panayiotou, with the two best goals for the game. |

With an improved performance, Spurs U14s took three points against a determined Barking side at Fred Knights. Tottenham kept possession well and moved forward from the start, with Ryah Vyse striding upfield to strike a 20-yard shot that brought a good save from the visiting keeper. However, to show Tottenham would not have it all their own way, Barking attacked and a volley went a couple of yards wide, with another shot missing the target from an attack following the resulting goal-kick. With ten minutes on the clock, Spurs opened the scoring. A long pass out of defence found Beth Hunter Scott and her pass set Alex Small through to hit a low shot across the goalie into the net. Seven minutes later, Rebecca Hunneyball and Ryah Vyse linked well to allow Alex to return the compliment by squaring to Beth, who hit a powerful shot, but the keeper was in line with the effort. However, a minute later Alex's low cross was smashed into the roof of the net by Beth for a debut goal. Barking were stung by the second goal and attacked the Spurs goal, with Ricole Vyse having to make a good save from a 20 yard shot, but Tottenham the picked up the pace of the game, with Ryah hitting the side netting from a narrow angle and then forcing a save from the keeper with a shot from the edge of the area. On the half hour, Beth tried a shot from 30 yards and although it lacked power, the keeper must have taken her eye off the ball as it went between her legs and luckily hit her heel to take it for a corner. Just before the interval, Alex had a strong run that ended with a shot from 18 yards that went wide. In the opening minute of the second period, Barking went close with a shot after a long pass went over the back four of Spurs, but three minutes after, it was 3-0. A Hoshi Cooper-Hutchinson high ball was won by Ryah Vyse and as she moved into the right side of the penalty area, she hit a rasping shot that went into the net off the far post. Again, Barking refused to give up and from a corner gained straight from the kick off, a goalmouth scramble ensued and some good blocking by Shikiera Richards-Lake and Leesa Shields thwarted the Barking side. As the game went from end to end, Ryah released Alex with a good pass and the forward's shot was well saved. With 32 minutes of the second half gone, Lauren Taylor-Marks was released through the middle and hit a powerful shot, but it failed to find the target. Then a good passing move started by Sophie Petros and moving through Stavroulla Panayiotou went to the far post where Lauren was robbed of a certain goal by a last ditch tackle and Leesa latched onto the loose ball, but from only a short distance out, the keeper made an alert save to deny her. The last chance of the match fell Barking's way, with a corner, which Ricole pushed to the far post and the follow up shot went wide. It was a welcome win for Spurs and with the impetus of some new signings, it can kick-start their season. |
