Spurs Ladies Under-14 Whites returned to league action at the weekend against Hemel Hempstead and recorded a win by a big margin. The Tottenham girls hit the ground running with a goal in the opening three minutes, albeit an own goal after an Andrea Edobor corner. Rhiannon Kelly then volleyed in her goal to put Spurs on their way to collecting all three points. Spurs ended the game having scored no less than nine goals ! Jodie Fenn scored her first of the season with a sublime finish, Andrea Edobor added another goal to her tally with a cool finish, Chloe Gunn managed to grab four goals and Rhiannon Kelly rounded off a good afternoon for Spurs scoring her second of the game. Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U14 Whites faced
a tough cup quarter final tie at home to a strong Leigh Rockets team.
It was the home side who opened the scoring. Paige Barnard cleared a ball high into the opposition penalty area which the defence failed to clear. Lindsey Cockle coolly brought the ball down and slotted it under the keeper. Spurs soon had their second of the afternoon when Lindsey Cockle held the ball up on the touch line and after a neat turn she played the ball to Andrea Edobor, whose vision was sublime in finding Chloe Gunn first time, who powered the ball into the bottom corner. Andrea turned from provider to goal scorer several minutes later. The ball was passed to her and from no less than 40 yards outs she launched a shot over the head of the Leigh Rockets goal keeper ! Spurs then proceeded to control the game and with fifteen minutes to go rounded the game off with a lovely team goal. Chloe Gunn switched the play from the right to Stephanie Smith, who had cut in from the left. Stephanie flicked the ball first time over the defence to Tarn Harris, who controlled it and passed it in to Lindsey Cockle, who took one touch and buried it past the despairing Leigh Rockets keeper. An excellent win that sends Spurs into the semi-final of the cup ! DAN COCKLE |

| Home Counties Girl's Football League Cup - Semi-final | |||||
|
A well-drilled performance containing some neat football saw Spurs Ladies Under-14 Whites progress to the League Cup Final, where they will meet Luton Town. Spurs started well, with some good possession and passed the ball confidently, but it was a break on the right wing by Enfield that brought the first shot on Sian Osmond's goal, which flew high over the bar. With 17 minutes gone, Tottenham went ahead. Chloe Gunn broke on the left wing, cut inside once in the penalty area and unleashed a shot that the keeper did well to get her hands to but could not stop going in. Six minutes later, Vanessa Hassans almost got onto the end of Lindsey Cockle's pass, but the keeper made a brave save at her feet. The loose ball ran to Tarn Harris, but she was too wide to get her shot on target. Tarn got her next effort nearer when she struck a post from close range after Lindsey stepped over Chloe's low cross from the left. Thirteen minutes before the break, Spurs doubled their lead. Rhiannon Kelly's fast break on the right wing ended with an early low ball into the six yard box and Leasha Ngotho ran in to turn the ball neatly home for 2-0. Just before the break, the Enfield keeper was once more equal to a Spurs shot, this time from Rhiannon, who caused problems for the visiting defence and fell in the area six minutes into the second half, with the referee awarding a contested penalty. Lindsey Cockle stepped up, but hit the post with the spot-kick and the rebound was hit wide. Rhiannon had a shot fly across the face of goal, Leasha struck a shot just wide of the target and Lindsey was denied by the Enfield goalie at point blank range before a third goal came. With 22 minutes on the clock in the second half, Rhiannon cut inside from the right and blazed a shot across the keeper to hit the net. Lindsey was fated not to be on the scoresheet today, as a volley from Chloe's corner was blocked by a defender, although five minutes from the end, Chloe won the ball in midfield, powered past two defenders and took the ball around the keeper before slotting home the fourth goal to seal the win for Tottenham. |

It was a much improved
performance by the Under-14 Blues since the two sides met earlier in the
season, but they could not stop the Whites earning a 2-0 win to maintain
their challenge at the top of the table. Goals from Tarn Harris and Leasha Ngotho were enough to give the Whites the points, but the Blues showed a good attitude to the game and provided tough opposition. KEVIN FENN |

Tarn Harris scored the Spurs goal that earned a draw against second placed Cambridge City to keep themselves in with a shout at the top of the table. The final result was a fair reflection of the match and although Tottenham were unfortunate to go behind, the girls showed great character in getting back into the game and they equalised when Tarn raced clear to calmly slot the ball into the net past the goalkeeper. A single goal from the Spurs
Under-14 form striker Tarn Harris was enough to take the three points
from the visit to Princes Park. Princes Park put in a good performance to make Tottenham fight hard for their win and when Rhiannon Kelly crossed in low at the near post, her ball was met sweetly by Harris to tap home for the winner. KEVIN FENN |

A depleted Tottenham Hotspur Ladies Under-14 side lost a closely fought game at Harvesters A by the only goal of the game. Spurs almost pulled this one off, but conceded at a time when they were in the ascendancy. It was a good game, but with no substitutes, the players tired towards the end when some fresh legs would have come in handy. KEVIN FENN |

Once more, injuries and absences robbed Tottenham of the chance of fielding their first choice XI, but the side fought back from an uncertain start to romp to a big win. Spurs fielded a team without any experienced centre-backs and had an initial spell where they lacked confidence. A reshuffle after ten minutes made sure the pressure was transferred to the other end of the pitch and Spurs were 5-2 up at the break. Spurs slipped down a gear in the second half but remained in control adding two further goals. The goal-scorers were Rhiannon Kelly (3), Chloe Gunn (2), Lindsey Cockle and Leasha Ngotho.

As is the way with Tottenham Hotspur, there is never an easy way to do things and the Under-14 Whites produced another trademark comeback kids performance to win the League Cup against the odds. A tentative start by both sides saw the early stages lacking much goalmouth action, but Luton settled the better and began passing the ball around, while Spurs struggled to find their rhythm. Andrea Edobor fired in a low shot after 16 minutes and Jodie Fenn's long range effort brought a save from the Luton keeper. However, a 19th minute free-kick out on the right was floated in by Luton to the far post, where the ball drifted into the net to give them the lead. Katie Goodland was making good ground up the right wing and got stuck itno some crunching tackles, but was replaced by Rhiannon Kelly. This gave the Luton side confidence and Sian Osmond was forced to make a save to a high shot and then a Luton player skied a shot in front of goal well over the bar. With the half time whistle approaching Spurs pressed forward and Andrea seized on a loose ball to lob it just a foot over the Luton bar, while a low ball in from the right wing by Rhiannon found Andrea, who got her knee to it and directed it just past the post. There was still time for Leasha Ngotho to prod a shot just wide of the post after Andrea dribbled through and a free-kick was flicked on by Chloe Gunn to Lindsey Cockle, who hooked a volley from the edge of the area that flashed a coat of paint wide of the post. Shortly after the second half started, Tessa Osborne received a stomach injury and was substituted with Tarn Harris coming on and the team being reshuffled. And it was Tarn who almost equalised in the sixteenth minute of the half, when she dinked a shot over the floored goalkeeper only to see a defender clear the ball from in front of the goal and for Chloe's follow-up to fly wide of the mark. Lucky Di Biasio had made some useful interventions and Paige Barnard won most things in the air at the back, while in midfield Jodie Fenn and Leasha worked tirelessly in front of them. Rhiannon ploughed a furrow up the line, while Andrea had dropped back to left back, where she stuck to her task and gave everything in her chasing back and good positional play. With Steph Smith replacing Leasha Ngotho, Tottenham started to push forward and when the ball was won by Chloe on the right wing on the halfway line, she surged forward taking on player after player until she reached the area, when she cut inside and hit a low left foot shot into the far corner of the net to make the score 1-1. Up to that point, Luton had been tiring, but suddenly found a second wind, with Sian being forced to make a good save with her foot as a forward shot on goal from the right side of the goal. Tottenham were indebted to captain Zoë Jackson, who made a sliding clearance after Sian and Paige had collided chasing a through ball and it was loose with a striker closing in before Zoë kicked the ball clear. As time ticked away and both sides looked at extra time after normal time played in warm sunny conditions, it was Tottenham who almost won it right at the death, with a clearance dropping to Chloe 35 yards out and her lob bounced in the area and up over the keeper to strike the bar and go over the top with the last kick of normal time. Into extra time, the first half saw one great chance for Spurs, with Zoë Jackson's long free-kick bouncing up in the penalty box, where Chloe challenged the keeper, who saved her header and then there was a scramble in which the goalie did well to keep the ball out of the goal before Lindsey volleyed it over from close range with six minutes on the clock. Luton failed to threaten the Tottenham goal, but were working hard in midfield and at the back to stem the moves forward by the Spurs girls. However, with the second period of extra time seeing the orange shirted girls tiring and substitutions being made, Tottenham seemed to find some strength for a final fling. Two minutes into the second half, Chloe played a long pass forward and Lindsey Cockle chased it down the right hand channel of the penalty area. Lindsey took the ball on and waited for it to bounce nicely for her to hit a shot across the keeper and into the bottom corner of the net to give Tottenham the lead for the first time. It was a well-taken goal and one well deserved for a gritty performance by the Spurs forward. Jodie Fenn made way for Vanessa Hassans, as Spurs looked to secure the midfield and keep the pressure on, Chloe was once more the architect as a third Tottenham goal wrapped up the final. The midfielder picked out the run of Tarn Harris, who cut inside her marker to unleash a right foot shot that ripped into the back of the net to cue ecstatic celebrations by her team-mates and a minute or so later they were replayed as the final whistle went and the cup was heading for N17. It was a gripping game of football in which Luton played a spirited and full part. Having taken the lead, they held Spurs for long periods of the match and were unlucky to meet the girls on a day when they got stronger as the game went on. Congratulations to the Spurs girls and their management and commiserations to the Luton girls, who have always produced close games between the two sides over the last few years. |

Spurs Under-14 Whites clinched the runners up spot in the Home Counties Girl's Football League with a high scoring win over 10-man Northwood. The away team started
well, but Spurs soon started to stamp their authority on the game and
were 9 -0 up at the break with some neatly taken goals with the players
using the space well. This continued in the second half as Spurs
added a further six goals. KEVIN FENN |
