Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1

Tottenham edged a tight game with a 1-0 win over a well-matched Watford Ladies side at Fred Knights.

Spurs started with great determination and in the 19th minute a superb 20-yard looping shot into the left hand corner of the Watford goal from Becky Shephard put Spurs in front.

Spurs defended well to keep the Watford side at bay, with Megan Barsby making some good saves.  Spurs had some great shots at goal of their won, but the Watford keeper was hard to beat and the game finished 1-0 to Spurs with Megan being made player of the match.

The managers thought that with all the girls giving 110%, they fought hard and stayed focused to hold Watford at bay and finished with a well deserved win.   WELL DONE!.....

Bushey Rangers U14 3
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U14 Blues 1
Home Counties Girl's Football League Cup - Round 1
Spurs suffered their first defeat in four games as they were knocked out of the League Cup at the hands of Bushey Rangers.

Getting off to a very slow start, with Bushy scoring three goals in the first half.

The second half started a lot better and in the 40th minute Becky Shephard got a goal back.  The defence kept Bushy at bay for the rest of the game and with Jessie Donnelly having a goal dis-allowed and a few good shots from Kirsty Cunoosamy, Ruby Marlow and Rosie Daly narrowly missing the net, they were very unlucky not to have pulled the game back.

Tayla Goodman defended well throughout the game and was made Player of the Match.

The managers said that, "after a poor first half, the team came out and played a much better second half, putting Bushey under pressure and getting a goal back early on. The girls were unlucky not to get something from the game."

Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1
Spurs met Bushey Rangers again, this time in the league and it was a completely different game from last week's League Cup tie.

Spurs played with a positive attitude from the kick off in weather of wind, rain, snow and hailstones that stopped the game for five minutes near the end of the first half, but they kept Bushey at bay with good defensive play and the first half finished 0-0.

The sun came out for the second half and with it came the goals, with Becky Shepherd scoring in the 48th and 58th minutes and having another shot at goal in the 63rd that was knocked in by a Bushey player for a own goal and for Spurs to run out 3-0 winners.

All the players played well and Jessie Donnelly was player of the match for a really positive game.

The managers commented, "It was a better performance than last week. A slow first half due to conditions, but a cracking second half, WELL DONE !"

Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U14 Blues 4
Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1
Spurs Under-14 Blues started off their visit to Northwood with only nine players, but came out on top int he end of a game that swung this way and that.

The nine girls fought hard, keeping Northwood at bay, but failed to capitalise on some good passes into the Northwood goal area.  Fifteen minutes into the game, a Spurs player, who had been delayed in traffic, came on to give them ten players for the rest of the game, but with this they seemed to relax too much and gave away two easy goals.  This seemed to bring them back to life and in the 26th minute Kirsty Cunoosamy passed a good ball to Ruby Marlow, which she converted for the first Spurs goal of the game.

The second half got off to a good start with Spurs, having most of the possession and in the 39th minute Spurs were awarded a free kick that Becky Shephard scored from to make the score 2-2.  In the 49th minute, Northwood scored their third to put them in front once more, but undeterred, Spurs pressed forward and Becky scored in the 60th minute to bring Spurs level at 3-3.

The play was end to end for a while with both teams battling to get a wining goal and in the 71st minute Rosie Daly kicked the ball into the Northwood net for Spurs to come out 4-3 winners.

Every Spurs player played with great determination to win the game and Loren Hynes ran herself into the ground and was given player of the match.

The managers thought that with only ten players available the girls showed great character and determination.  WELL DONE !

Hitchin Town Belles U14 1
Tottenham Hotspur Ladies U14 Blues 2
Home Counties Girl's Football League - Division 1
With patched up squad and hit by injury during the game, Spurs Under-14 Blues came up with a victory against the odds on their visit to Hitchin Town Belles.

Both teams were under-strength, but Spurs had the additional handicap of Tayla Goodman carrying a knee injury that forced her from the field after battling on for 20 minutes, leaving the other ten girls to face the Belles.

Every player put all they could into the game, with Kirsty Cunoosamy going very close to scoring in the first few minutes of the game.  Ruby Marlow opened the scoring in the 16th minute, only for captain Rosie Daly make a great goal line clearance to stop Hitchin equalising to ensure the first half finished 1-0 to Spurs.

The second half had barely started when Ruby scored again in the 36th minute to put Spurs 2-0 ahead and the defence kept Hitchin at bay until the 56th minute, when they scored for the game to finish 2-1 to Spurs.  Rosie was given the player of the match award.

The managers commented that, "The whole team pulled together and played well, so the girls earned a well deserved win."

Although Spurs played well  they come out losing 3-1 to Princes Park, It was a slow game in very hot weather and Spurs just didn't seem to get the breaks they deserved.

Becky Shephard scored the Spurs goal and Sinead Makins was player of the match.

The managers commented, "The girls gave as much as they could, but with the heat playing a big factor they lost a game that was evenly balanced.  A good effort though and look forward to the next game."

Spurs suffered a jitter before the break but hit back in the second half to ensure the three points against Harvesters B at Fred Knights.

Ruby Marlow's second minute miss was a taste of things to come, as Becky Shephard put Tottenham ahead in the 10th minute.  This gave the side confidence to pass the ball around and they had a large share of possession, with Rosie Daly hitting the second Tottenham goal with 31 minutes gone.

As the half-time interval approached an unfortunate mistake left the ball in the Tottenham net and the team turned around at 2-1.

With some words of encouragement at the break, Spurs made the game safe with goals from Becky, after a great run from Chloe Kraemer after 42 minutes, then in the 55th minute, Ruby hit Tottenham's fourth goal after another run by Chloe.

Lotty Lovejoy-Crump put in a mazy run into the heart of the Harvesters defence and fired a shot against the post.  Two minutes from the end, Jessie Donnelly put in a goal-bound effort that the Harvesters keeper saved well.

Getting the win from a game the team dominated was very pleasing and the managers said, "The girls had a good game apart from a slight wobble towards the end of the first half.  Some good passing moves in the second half helped create the goals to wrap up the win.   WELL DONE GIRLS !"

After a slow start Tottenham played some good football in beating Hemel Hempstead 4-0 in the HCGFL.

Stepping up the pace after the lack-lustre early stages of the game, Tottenham pressurised Hemel for large periods of the game and the scoring was opened by a Kirsty Cunoosamy goal in the 26th minute.  This was quickly followed by a second Spurs goal from Becky Shephard six minutes later.

Into the second half Rosie Daly scored for the second week running with a 47th minute effort and in the closing stages, a goal from Becky in the 74th minute wrapped up a well earned victory.

The managers said, "The girls played a good passing game and were in control from the first whistle.  Well done !"

Spurs finished their league programme with a 3-2 away win over Bushey Rangers.

Spurs went 1-0 down in the sixth minute when Bushey scored, but the girls didn't seem to be connecting well, until, in the ninth minute, Kirsty Cunoosamy scored.   This only sparked Bushey into scoring again in the 16th minute and the first half finished 2-1 to the away team.

In the second half Spurs appeared to have got their act together and with a goal from Ruby Marlow in the 40th minute and a header into the goal from Rosie Daly from a corner in the 60th and Spurs came out 3-2 winners.

Lotty held the midfield together well throughout the game and was player of the match.

The managers commented, "The girls gave a good second half performance and showed determination to get the winner."

WELL DONE !

Spurs Ladies Under-14 Blues ended their season with a storming win over the under-strength Hemel Hempstead team.

Hemel only had nine players (and only eight for the start and end of the game), but Spurs took full advantage of this situation, passing the ball between players really well and scoring a total of 16 (sixteen) goals with Lotty Lovejoy-Crump getting a hat trick (scoring in the 3rd, 13th and 16th minutes) of the game, Kirsty Cunoosamy scoring four (8th, 47th, 49th and 51st), Ruby Marlow two (11th and 20th), Becky Shephard with five (18th, 23rd, 26th, 32nd and 34th) and one from Jessie Donnelly in the 31st and in the 70th minute a goal from Tayla Goodman rounded off the score at 16-0.

All the girls had a great game playing in great spirit and helping each other well as a team.

The managers said "After a disciplined two thirds of the game the girls then pushed up and enjoyed a free run to finish off a good end to the game and the season."
