So the Under-15 teams of Tottenham Hotspur Ladies and Luton Town met again for the third time in the last four weeks.

This week saw Luton start on the attacking foot and Sam Delves was called into defend early on, with Saskia Collins also holding the centre of defence.  Sarah Brennan produced a searching ball to Charlotte McLucas who was pushing up front. Sarah had a long shot, which went through the keeper’s hands and away for a corner.

Luton however continued to push forward and Sam produced some more super moves to clear the ball. Katie Fray delivered a good ball through to Laura Newby, who was just closed down by a defender before she could get her shot away.  Clara Littlechild was also battling away on the left hand side of defence with Shoshana Field producing a good clearing ball and then pushing forward.

Sophie Gardiner was looking for space on the right.  Saskia blocked a shot away from a Luton players shot and Shoshana cleared the danger away.  Sarah delivered a good ball to Sophie whose shot was held by the keeper and Charlotte M tracked back and helped out the defence.  Spurs were now starting to get back into the game, with Bobbi Cubberley breaking out of defence to produce a long ball to Sophie on the right, but she was thwarted at the last moment.  Vicki Blake had joined the show and was straight away involved in clearing the ball away.  Bobbi had a long range shot which was saved. Sam continued to cover well at the back.  Katie slipped a ball through to Laura who at full stretch nearly beat the keeper, but she just pushed it away in time.  Both Shoshana and Vicki produced good clearing headers from the long Luton balls forward.  Charlotte M crossed the ball into the box and Bobbi just put it wide.  Lily Tyrimos made a good save from a Luton attack.  Saskia once again blocked a shot and Sarah cleared it away.  So the first half finished at 0-0 with both sides having few clear cut chances.

The second half started with Charlotte M pushing the ball out wide to Megan Oates, who had a shot that was comfortably held by the keeper.  This was followed up a few moments later by Katie whose shot was cleared away by the defence.  Spurs were now pushing forward and Megan had a shot that was parried away by the keeper for a corner.  Charlotte Wakefield went up front and she laid off the ball to Katie who moved it to Sophie on the left and her shot was held by the keeper.

Shoshana was called upon to clear the ball away at the back after a Luton attack.  Still Tottenham were now looking more dangerous and Bobbi moved the ball onto Katie whose shot was just about held by the keeper with Charlotte W bearing down on her.  The final breakthrough came when the ball went out to right and Megan squared the ball to Katie, whose shot squeezed past the keeper to make it 1-0.  Spurs were now really turning up the heat and Bobbi moved the ball to Katie and then onto Sarah whose shot just went wide.  Luton however were still dangerous and Sam once again defended well.

Tottenham broke down the left and Clara used her pace to get past the defender, she crossed the ball into the middle and Megan stroked it away into the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Vicki defended well at the back, but Spurs pushed on again Katie passed to Megan who then passed the ball to Charlotte W, who made no mistake in putting it away to make it 3-0.

The last Tottenham goal was a super individual effort as Clara smashed through on the left hand side, beat two Luton defenders with her pace and blasted the ball past the keeper to make it 4-0.

Sam, Shoshana, Saskia and Vicki still held firm at the back, but following a long shot, Luton managed to get the score back to 4-1.

Shoshana produced another very strong clearing header, with Sam battling away in defence. Lily made a super reaction save, as the clock was counting down, the final whistle blew and the game was over.

Once again it was a good game of football. Well done to all the Tottenham girls who showed true grit and spirit and a special mention to Shoshana who was awarded player of the match.

belmont united u15 3
tottenham hotspur ladies u15 4
home counties girl's football league  - u15 div. 1
Belmont United are a good side, who always battle hard and today was no exception. On a somewhat cold and bleak May day, the game started with Spurs attacking, Sarah Brennan produced a good ball to Katie Fray with the keeper saving the shot. A moment later and Sophie Gardiner passed a good ball to Sarah who buried it to make it 1-0. Shoshana Field delivered a good clearance in defence, with Sam Delves also being solid at the back. Sarah produced a long ball through to Laura Newby whose shot went wide. A moment later and Bobbi Cubberley drilled a ball to Sophie who moved it onto Katie, who smartly put the ball away to make it 2-0 after six minutes. Tottenham were totally on top, putting some lovely moves together between Sarah, Bobbi, Katie, Laura, Sophie and Lydia Maher, but they still had to keep their wits about them with Lily Tyrimos coming out to collect a searching pass. Saskia Collins was working hard in the middle. Lydia got some space on the right and just shot wide under pressure from the defender. Clara Littlechild was strong on the left of defence.

Bobbi delivered a cross to Katie whose shot was held by the keeper. Bobbi a few minutes later pushed a ball through to Laura who ran on but her shot was saved by the keeper. Spurs were pushing forward with Bobbi moving the ball out to Lydia on the right, she ran at pace and crossed the ball in, Katie couldn’t quite get to it as it whistled across the face of the goal. The Belmont keeper then saved a strong shot from Bobbi and she also saved the follow up from Lydia.  Saskia was defending higher up the pitch as Spurs still looked for the breakthrough, however it came from Belmont who came through the middle to make it 2-1.  A moment later and Lily made a good save as she came out. Unfortunately following a bit of a mix up at the back, Belmont were level at 2-2.  The girls were on the back foot with Saskia producing some last ditch defending to deny another shot. Charlotte Wakefield was looking to find a breakthrough up front.

Tottenham were still pushing and following a ball crossed over the goal area, Katie pounced to put the ball away and make it 3-2.  Sarah was tracking back well to help out the defence. Katie drilled a ball to Charlotte McLucas whose shot was blocked off by a defender. Clara moved the ball to Sarah who then passed it to Sophie, her shot went wide. The final move of the first half saw Megan Oates deliver the ball to Sophie who found Katie and her shot went over the top.

Lily needed to be on her toes early in the second half coming out to collect a through ball. Sam continued to be strong in defence. Belmont however found some space in the midfield and managed to capitalise on a quick move through the middle to make it 3-3.  Clara found Laura with a long ball and her shot went wide. Sarah was also looking for Laura with the long ball. Belmont were really pushing now and once again Sam did real well at the back. Hollie Watson on the right of defence also cut out the ball well. Laura found herself through on goal put just put it wide. Sam produced a good step up, with Lydia being strong in the tackles. Clara produced a good ball to Sophie who was closed down quickly. Clara was then back defending hard, with Sam also being very strong in the middle at the back. Lily came out quickly to deny a Belmont striker. Sarah took the ball up the end and she had a shot which was held by the keeper. Hollie produced some tight defending as Belmont continued to push forward. Laura then from a Belmont goal kick got the ball, she quickly squared it to Sophie, who saw the keeper was charging back to her goal and she floated the ball into the back of the net to make it 4-3.  Still Belmont were looking to come back once again, but Sam once again cleared the ball away. Saskia was also working hard in the middle of defence.

Sophie had a shot herself which the keeper saved. Sarah passed to Katie and her shot was saved. Bobbi then had a free kick just outside the box and whilst she got it over the wall it didn’t just have enough time to come down. Lydia and Katie had come back to help at the back to make sure that the opposition didn’t break through. Sophie had a shot which went wide. The game was end to end with Lily making a super diving save to deny a super shot from going in. Hollie and Sam teamed up to stop another Belmont attack. Bobbi produced a good ball to Lydia whose shot was well saved. Lily produced another great save diving bravely at the feet of an attacker. Sophie put a ball through to Megan who couldn’t quite get her shot away. The game finished with Charlotte M, Saskia, Bobbi and of course Sam making sure the scored stayed as a win for Tottenham.

As always Belmont worked really hard and pushed Spurs all the way.  It was a good physical game, but played in the right way and manner, with Tottenham just getting the upper hand in the end.

Well played to both sides.

05.05.2010
harvesters u15 2
tottenham hotspur ladies u15 6
home counties girl's football league  - u15 div. 1

This was the Spurs Ladies Under-15s' first mid-week game for a number of years and the team were a little slow to start with Harvesters having the best of the action in the first 5-10 minutes.

Saskia Collins was battling away on the right of defence with Vicki Blake and Sam Delves in the middle and Shoshana Field on the left, all were holding firm and clearing away any danger.  Slowly Spurs started to get into the game with Sarah Brennan producing a good searching ball through to Katie Fray, which was cleared away. Sam Delves defended well from another Harvesters attack.  Vicki produced a good ball to Katie who then found Sophie Gardiner and her shot was saved.  Tottenham through Megan Oates, Katie, Sophie and Laura Newby were putting pressure on the Harvesters goal but couldn’t deliver the final ball.  Vicki produced a good step up, Sophie found herself through with a chance which the keeper saved.  A moment later and Laura produced a great throw in to Sophie was about 20 yards out, she struck a lovely ball which whistled past the keeper to make it 1-0.

Megan found Lydia Maher on the right who was using her pace to hound the defence.  Sarah was using her skill and pace in the middle, with Shoshana producing a long range shot which went high of the target in the end.  Lydia then had a shot which went high and wide.  A moment later and Lydia crossed the ball into the box, which Katie coolly buried in the back of the net to make it 2-0.  Sarah had a lovely powerful strike which just went high and wide.  Lydia continued to look for the opening on the right.  Sam produced some good defending, then unfortunately following a corner, Harvesters scored when Lily couldn’t quite punch the ball far enough away from danger and it fell to the feet of a Harvester player who made it 2-1.

They now had Spurs under some pressure and Lily made a super diving save to deny them another goal.  Tottenham however started once again to turn on the skill and Sarah found Megan who passed it to Laura whose shot went wide.  Sarah then found Lydia with a cross and her shot went over the top.  Lydia a moment later had a shot that was well saved. Laura had a shot that was kicked off the line by a defender, with Katie also having a shot that went wide. Vicki produced a good clearance.  Charlotte Wakefield produced a good pass to Laura, who buried it to make it 3-1.  A moment later unfortunately there was a mix up at the back and Lily was out of her goal as Harvesters tucked the ball away to make it 3-2.

Following some Spurs pressure on the Harvesters goal, the ball spun off a defender and it went in to make it an own goal and thus 4-2 to Spurs.  Tottenham however still defended well through Saskia and Sam and towards the end of the first half Laura looped a ball through to Lydia, who was just beaten to the ball by the Harvesters keeper.

The second half started with Clara Littlechild coming on and as always throwing herself into the game whole heartily and getting clattered within the first few minutes.  Charlotte McLucas produced a good ball to Charlotte W whose shot was held by the keeper and then the same player had a shot that went wide a moment later.  Clara cleared the ball away at the back, with Lydia also tracking back to assist.  Lily made another good save from a Harvesters strike.  Charlotte M passed the ball to Sophie whose shot went wide.  Sam cleared the ball nicely, with Lily dealing nicely with a difficult corner.  Charlotte M had a shot herself that was held by the keeper.  Sam defended well again with Saskia and when Clara moved up for a corner the ball fell out to her a she buried from about 15 yards out to make it 5-2, with a super strike.

Sarah produced a great ball to Sophie who drilled it through to Charlotte M whose shot just went wide.  Hollie Watson now joined the match at right back and produced a total up and under from about 40 yards out that any rugby player would have be proud of as it bounced over the keeper’s head and just went over the bar.  Sam and Hollie were defending well at the back to ensure nothing got through.

The next goal was probably the best of the day by far when Sophie was charging at full pace just outside the box and produced a screamer with her right foot, which sailed into the top right hand corner before you could blink to make it 6-2.

Still Harvesters didn’t give up and Hollie headed a searching corner away from any danger.  Clara had moved up to midfield with Shoshana in defence and she had a shot that was well saved.  Hollie produced a lovely long ball to find Clara as she switched the play from right to left; she volleyed it on to Sophie whose shot just went wide.  A Spurs corner saw the ball fall to Megan whose shot went over the top and shortly afterwards Laura had a shot that just went wide, with Megan producing a good individual run finishing shooting just wide.

Both sides played well and in the right spirit, Harvesters are a much improved team from the one Spurs played earlier in the season which is a great credit to them. The girls are producing a truck load of chances as they are enjoying a run of unbroken games which is helping them to improve and flourish with their open play and style. Well done.

02.05.2010
tottenham hotspur ladies u15 4
luton town u15 4
home counties girl's football league  - u15 division 1
After a tight game last week the girls knew that it would be another close game with Luton Town and so it proved to be.  Tottenham started really brightly and were all over Luton. Vicki Blake produced a long kick up field and Sophie Gardiner was quick to put pressure on the defence.  Laura Newby crossed the ball to Katie Fray and her shot went wide of the mark.  A moment later and Katie had another shot which went over the top.  Bobbi Cubberley drilled the ball to Sophie who burst through the middle and was one on one with the keeper who made a good save to deny Sophie.  Sam Delves produced a solid header in defence as Spurs were totally camped in the Luton half.  Bobbi produced a searching ball to Megan Oates who couldn’t quite get her shot away.  Some lovely interchange movements between Bobbi and Sarah Brennan in the middle of the park.  Megan produced a good ball to Bobbi and her shot was palmed away by the keeper for a corner.  Sophie had a shot that the keeper managed to deflect away.   Sarah found Laura with a great ball but unfortunately her shot went wide.  Shoshana Field was defending well at the back and Saskia Collins was very busy pushing up the pitch at the back.  Vicki produced another strong header from a long Luton ball.

Still Tottenham were putting the pressure on and Bobbi had a shot from outside the area which hit the cross bar and bounced down, Laura shot but it went over the top.  Katie pressed on with the attack and her shot was saved but Sophie was following up to tuck the ball away to make it 1-0.  So after 25 minutes of constant attacks Spurs had finally broken through.

A moment later and Sophie found herself one on one with the keeper who once again made a super save.  Saskia continued to push up the pitch, Vicki being comfortable in defence with Sam.  Luton suddenly broke away, Lily parried away the first shot but a Luton player followed up and found the back of the net to make it 1-1, which was their first shot on goal.  Lily Tyrimos was called upon to make a save a moment later but the Luton player was adjudged offside.  Luton were attacking now and a moment later after a mix up in the midfield, they had made it 2-1 with their second attempt.  Lily under real pressure made a super save and Sam cleared it away.  Becca Dowling made a good run down the right and crossed the ball in towards the end of the first half, but unfortunately no one could get on the end of it.  So a half dominated by Spurs for most of it, saw Tottenham trail in 2-1 at half time.

Spurs started the second half as they had started the first half and within 30 seconds of the re-start Katie had charged down the left had a shot which the keeper half saved and Megan followed it up to make it 2-2. Clara Littlechild was doing a sterling job on the left of defence.  Megan found herself in a one on one situation, but the keeper made a good save to deny Spurs once again.

The game was more even now and Luton had a shot themselves which hit the crossbar.  A few minutes late and following a shot from about 35 yards out the ball bounced just in front of Lily and sailed over her head to make it 3-2.  Sarah continued to battle away on the left, she found Bobbi who passed the ball to Becca, her shot was cleared away.  Following a mix up in defence Luton managed to capitalise on the situation and slotted the ball away to make it 4-2.

However, Spurs didn’t give up with Katie having a shot that went wide of the mark.  Shoshana produced a long ball to Sophie and her shot was saved by the keeper, but Laura pounced on the rebound and tuck it away to make it 4-3 with about 10 minutes left.  Sarah was also working hard at the back, as Luton pressed on.  Sam was defending very well and chasing down their runners.  Shoshana was battling away on the left and found Laura with a pass who moved it on to Megan, but the Luton defence held firm.  Saskia was really closing the Luton players down and Sam was holding firm at the back, with Sarah producing some super cover.  Bobbi then drilled a ball through to Laura and she made no mistake in making it 4-4.

Spurs now threw everything forward, with Sarah pushing on, Katie battling on the left and Saskia diving up the right.  Sophie nearly got a shot away, but was just beaten to the ball by a Luton defender.  Bobbi was looking for Becca as the final whistle blew and it was a draw.

It was a game of mixed emotions as Spurs had totally dominated it in parts, but hadn’t made the pressure pay and had suffered as a consequence, however they also showed super spirit to come back from 4-2 to get a draw. A very exciting game for any neutral that was watching, well done all.

25.04.2010
luton town u15 0
tottenham hotspur ladies u15 3
home counties girl's football league  - u15 cup semi-final

Tottenham travelled to Luton for a Semi-Final which the girls knew would be a tough test.  Both sides were very cagey at the start with the ball flowing from one mid-field to the other.  Vicki Blake produced a good step up in the middle of defence.  Spurs won a free kick and Bobbi Cubberley floated the ball in, the Luton defender missed it and Sophie Gardiner slid her leg forward to tap the ball passed the keeper, it unfortunately hit the post and bounced out.  Sam Delves was also defending well at Centre back, with Lily Tyrimos coming quickly out of goal on a number of occasions to collect the long balls from Luton.  Lydia Maher was tucking in on the right and Laura Newby was looking for space up front, which wasn’t easy.  Shoshana Field was dealing with the long ball on the left of defence with Saskia Collins patrolling on the right.  Sam produced a good step up, but Luton were pushing forward and they had a shot which went over the top of the goal.  Spurs were also making breaks and Lydia nearly got on the end of a lose ball in the box, before it was thumped away.

Luton attacked again and Lily had to make a tremendous save by charging out of goal and smothering the ball from the strikers shot.  A moment later and Lily was off her line smartly to collect another long ball.  Katie Fray was starting to find some space on the left and she was linking up with Sophie and Sarah Brennan in the middle.  Lydia managed to win a corner, Bobbi floated the ball in and Laura struck it really well on the volley but the keeper made a super reaction save to deny her.  Still Luton were dangerous and Sam & Vicki had their hands full at the back.  A change saw Clara Littlechild enter the field of play on the left and she was straight into the action having a long range shot at goal which went wide.  Still Luton pushed on and Sam defended well with Vicki covering as necessary.  Another free kick was awarded to Spurs and Bobbi stepped up to take it, her shot was goal bound when the keeper flicked out her hand and it went off for a corner.  A moment later Lily was out of her goal again to collect a through ball.  She quickly delivered a long ball to Bobbi who moved on at pace she produced a lovely through ball to Katie on the left, who coolly tucked the ball past the keeper with a defender on her shoulder to make it 1-0 with about eight minutes from the end of the first half.  Luton were back down the Tottenham end and smashed the ball over the cross bar following a corner.  A moment later and Lily came out and narrowed the angle to produce an outstanding save from a one to one situation.  Katie produced a super run on the left beating a number of Luton players, to apply more pressure on the opposition.  Bobbi looked to put Lydia through but the ball was cut out.  Sarah was working very hard in the middle of the park and also was looking to get the ball forward when she could.  Clara produced some excellent defending when a Luton player was through and just about to pull the trigger.  Katie produced a searching cross to Lydia who was just beaten to it as the half came to a close.

Spurs knew Luton would come out at them early in the second half and Vicki was called upon to clear away danger.  Luton broke through and Lily who is as brave as a lion dived at the feet of the striker to make a tremendous save.  Tottenham however were now pushing forward themselves with Katie finding Charlotte Wakefield with a good ball, Charlotte’s shot was blocked.  Katie was putting the Luton left back under more pressure turning her one way then the other.  Clara was solid at the back, with Saskia also standing up to pressure on the right.  Lydia was looking more and more threatening on the right as she was starting to out pace the Luton left back.  Charlotte W had a long range shot which was held by the keeper.  Sarah was also showing some super skills in the middle and she was cutting through the Luton midfield at times.  Laura had a shot which went wide of the target after a through ball from Katie. Megan Oates had come on and she was now linking up with Lydia right.  Katie and Charlotte produced some good movement between them and Bobbi had a go at goal following a free kick which was cleared away.  Sarah produced a super header to put the ball through to Megan, who was one on one with the keeper, she tried to chip the keeper but the ball went over the crossbar.

A moment later and a penalty was awarded to Spurs when a Luton ball handled the ball in the area. Bobbi coolly stepped up to the spot and drove the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0.  Tottenham now were putting Luton under real pressure and Lydia suddenly burst through a pack of defenders and she managed to flick the ball past the keeper to make it 3-0, with about 15 minutes left on the clock.  Vicki was producing some excellent headers at the back to cut out the long balls; she was also stepping up to keep the opposition at bay.  Spurs had been camped in the Luton half for most of the second half but Luton now were pushing again and Clara made some super last ditch tackles on the strikers to stop them from pulling the trigger.  Lily made a super save from a Luton corner to deny them once again.  Katie made a super run down the right cut in and couldn’t quite find a Spurs player to finish off a super move.  Sarah then went on a dancing run and weaved past past Luton players but couldn’t quite get her shot away before she was closed down.  Lily was out of her goal quickly to pick up the ball, she produced a long kick to find Lydia who charged forward on the right and her shot went wide.  Bobbi was showing some super skill and timing in the mid-field turning the opposition one way then the next.  Lily was called upon to make another save this time with her legs.  Charlotte McLucas joined in up front, with Megan.  Clara made another good tackle to deny Luton.  Shoshana was back on and once again solid at the back.  Luton were really stepping it up, but the defence held firm and the girls were starting to catch them on the break.  The final whistle blew and a good match had come to an end.

Both sides had battled really well, but the Spurs girls on this occasion had the edge, they had played with passion, determination and belief which had seen them triumph.  Player of the match went quite rightly to Lily who was totally committed and fearless in everything she did, even her Dad, Mario praised her at least three times which is amazing.

Well done girls a truly super performance, enjoy the final.

Manager Gerry McLucas said, "I would like to say how proud I was today on a total team effort.  I am so proud of a fantastic bunch of girls that showed total commitment for each other today.  I would also like to thank Paul Newby who deserves full credit for his commitment and passion towards the team.  Also a big thank you to Julie Newby for being the first aider also the girls rock.  We need to bring today's performance in every game to the end of the season.  Well done to everyone."

afc stevenage u15 0
tottenham hotspur ladies u15 7
home counties girl's football league  - u15 div. 1

A lovely day saw the girls travel to AFC Stevenage. Bobbi Cubberley started quickly creating space in the middle of the park. Sam Delves put Laura Newby through with a searching pass which saw the ball go wide. Lydia Maher and Laura were linking up on the right. Stevenage were putting Spurs under pressure on the flanks with , Sam staying strong in the middle at the back. Shoshana Field was busy in the left back position, with Lily Tyrimos coming out to collect the ball. Saskia Collins was working hard in the middle of defence. Sophie Gardiner found Bobbi with a through ball, which the keeper just got to in time.

Sophie was finding some space down the left. Stevenage continued to press and Lily was called on to make a good save. Charlotte McLucas drilled the ball forward to Lydia on the right who was looking for some space to run into. Sophie popped a good ball through to Laura who couldn’t quite get off a shot this time. It was very much end to end stuff with Charlotte crossing the ball in one minute then Stevenage attacking and Lily coming out to collect the long ball the next. Laura made a good run through the middle and her shot just went wide. Katie Fray showed good skill in the middle, with her shot going wide. Laura then had a go a minute later and this was followed up by Sophie having a strike that went wide. Not to miss out Megan Oates also had a shot that was saved. Sophie passed to Katie who flicked it onto Laura and her shot went wide. Still Stevenage were dangerous and Saskia cleared away the danger. Still Tottenham were pushing themselves forward and Sophie once again found Laura whose shot was saved. Saskia produced a long ball over the top and Charlotte Mc had a shot which went over the cross bar. A moment later and  Charlotte Wakefield cleared a long ball from defence which Sophie got hold of, ran through the middle of the defence and coolly slotted it passed the keeper to make it 1-0 just before half time.

Stevenage had really battled well during the first half and the girls knew they had their work cut out with Sam defending well early on in the second half. Sophie had a run and her shot went wide of the mark. Katie was also patrolling the middle and she found Sophie with a good pass, which saw Sophie’s shot go wide. A moment later and Katie crossed the ball in, but the keeper collected it first. Sam once again was defending very well. Spurs continued to apply pressure with Bobbi finding Laura and her shot was well saved. Vicki Blake had joined the defence and she defended well on the right, with Clara Littlechild doing a similar job on the left. It was great to see Clara back after some five months out of the game.

Both Clara and Vicki produced some good step ups to put the pressure back on the opposition, while Katie crossed the ball to Lydia, whose shot went wide. Spurs then won a free kick about 25 yards out. Bobbi smashed the ball into the area and it flew into the back of the net after a slight deflection to make it 2-0.  Vicki passed to Sophie, who then moved the ball out to Laura, whose shot was cleared off the line by a defender. Stevenage hadn’t given up however and Lily was called upon to make to super one on one saves within the space of a couple of minutes. Katie had a shot saved as did Sophie. Spurs charged forward and Katie passed a great ball to Laura who flicked the ball into the back of the net with the outside of her boot to make 3-0.

Clara continued to battle away on the left.  It was then Katie’s turn to score as Bobbi passed a lovely ball to her and she smashed the ball away to make it 4-0.  Tottenham were now in total charge and Sophie scored her second of the day following a super move now making it 5-0.  Charlotte McLucas then floated a lovely corner in a Bobbi rose like that salmon to head the ball in to make it 6-0.

Bobbi had a shot a moment later which went over the top. Spurs continued to put the pressure on and this saw Megan come through the middle and smash the ball away to make it 7-0.  It was good to see Hollie Watson then come on for a few minutes after being out five months with an injury, up front not her normal position but she was enjoying herself.

The final whistle blew and the final score was 7-0 to Spurs. Stevenage had really battled hard and had done real well, especially in the first half. AFC Stevenage are a great bunch of girls and I know the Spurs Team always find it a  pleasure to play them, plus that make the best cakes in the League for the parents and supporters !!!

The girls played well, especially in the second half, when the constant pressure paid off.
Player of the match was awarded to Laura for all her work up front. Well done.

Fortunately everyone had remembered to change their clocks, but to be fair Brentford seemed to be more awake at the start with Saskia Collins clearing the ball away from danger early on. Sarah Brennan was very busy covering every blade of grass on the pitch. Vicki Blake was called into action at the back, with Sam Delves also doing a super job of shadowing  an attacker who was charging towards goal. Charlotte McLucas was working some one-two’s with Saskia on the right. Vicki once again stepped up and cleared the ball away as Brentford were pushing forward strongly. Shoshana Field had her hands full on the left, battling with their midfielder, with Sam once again playing the ball away. Bobbi Cubberley took a free kick which was well held by the keeper.

Spurs were under pressure again and Lily Tyrimos was called upon to come out and collect some long balls, as well as diving on some searching passes before the opposition could get to them.

Charlotte Wakefield burst through the middle, but the keeper closed her down quickly as the ball spun away from danger. Sophie Gardiner was looking for space up front, with Katie Fray also getting more into the game. Sarah produced a good step up in the middle, with a ball to Bobbi whose cross was whipped into the middle and Sophie nearly got on the end of it. Sarah had a shot which came out from a corner and the ball went wide. Saskia delivered a long ball to Charlotte McLucas, who delivered it on to Sophie and she drilled the ball to Katie on the left, who cut in, composed herself and coolly stroked the ball past the diving keeper to make it 1-0 after 30 mins.

Bobbi produced a good ball to Sophie whose shot went wide. Shoshana produced a good searching ball into the middle. Vicki produced another good cut out. Sophie was charging towards the keeper and tried to chip her, but the keeper saw it coming and saved the ball. Just before the end of the first half, Brentford had a shot which just went over the top.

It had been a tough first half, but Gerry and Paul changed the formation around at half time and straight away a different side came out in the second half. Megan Oates delivered an early ball into the danger zone as Spurs squeezed up the play. Bobbi found Laura Newby with a good cross, which was parried away by the keeper. Charlotte Mc then very nearly broke through with her first goal of the season, but the ball just went wide. A moment later and Charlotte Mc found Sarah with a cross, with her shot just going wide. Vicki showed some very good ball skills in defence and Shoshana was bravely heading away some very high goal kicks.  Bobbi then found Megan with a super pass, who quickly flicked it on to Sophie and she buried it away to make it 2-0.  A minute later and Bobbi found Sophie with a super pass, Sophie struck the ball really well and the keeper produced an outstanding diving save to parry it away. However Spurs were now piling on the pressure, with Saskia passing to Bobbi, who delivered a great ball to Laura, who produced a super ball to Sophie and she made no mistake of tucking it away to make it 3-0.

Goal number four came when Megan produced a lofted kick, which saw the ball loop into the air, over the head of the keeper who was slightly off her line to make it 4-0.  Charlotte McLucas was busy on the right, Bobbi found her with a good ball and her shot just went over the top. Sophie then crossed to Bobbi who moved it to Laura whose shot whistled over the top. A  moment later, after more Tottenham pressure, Laura was just inside the box, she took aim and blasted the ball past a diving keeper top make it 5-0.  Bobbi headed wide from a lofted in corner. Bobbi was involved in passing a good ball to Katie whose shot just went wide. Spurs were really motoring now, with Sarah passing to Bobbi who produced a great ball to Katie who buried it past the replacement keeper to make it 6-0.  The final goal saw Katie drill a lovely ball to Megan on the left, she ran on and slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 7-0.

This was very much a game of two halves, with Brentford putting Spurs under real pressure in the first half, which is all credit to them. Their goal keeper was superb and we wish her a speedy recovery, with her ankle injury. Tottenham  were a different class in the second half and the movement and drive was great to see.

All the girls are now looking forward to their Team Building weekend over Easter, have a super time.

Next week - a break, enjoy !!

This was always going to be a tough test with three players on holiday and one long term injured, playing Luton with ten players was never going to be easy for Spurs and so it proved to be.

Luton started the brighter with Lily Tyrimos called into action early on, coming out quickly of her line to clear the ball away.  Vicki Blake then also cleared danger away with a strong kick out.  Megan Oates was back defending in the centre with Sam Delves on the right and Charlotte McLucas on the left.  Charlotte M had her hands full on the left as Luton pushed down that flank.  Tottenham made the occasion raid one of which saw Bobbi Cubberley drill the ball through to Katie Fray, who was quickly surrounded by defenders and the attack was thwarted.  A moment later and Megan produced a long ball to Charlotte Wakefield whose shot went wide.  A minute later and Bobbi produced a similar ball, which unfortunately was also put wide by Charlotte W.

Luton then commenced with their attacks with Lily producing a super save.  Megan cleared in the defence once more. Still Luton pushed forward and Lily was called upon to save a shot which bounced out and a Luton player who put it over the bar, a very near miss.  This seemed to get Spurs moving and there was a nice sweeping movement from Megan to Katie on to Sophie Gardiner on the right.  Still Luton were pushing and Charlotte M was battling away very hard on the left. Charlotte W drilled a ball to Sophie and her shot went wide on the left. Sam was strong on the right of defence clearing away any danger.  The girls continued to press with Bobbi passing to Laura Newby who had been on her sick bed the day before she passed it to Katie whose shot went wide.  The girls were pressing more and more, with Sam passing to Katie and then on to Sophie who was finding more space down the right.  The breakthrough came when Bobbi passed a through ball to Sophie, who smashed it past the keeper to make it 1-0.  Luton however were still pressing with Vicki producing some good clearances and was Sam.  Katie produced another good ball to Charlotte W and the shot via a volley went wide. Sam finished the first half defending strongly.

Tottenham started the second half brightly with Charlotte W having a shot that went wide early on and Katie also had a shot well saved.  Sam continued to battle away on the right of defence.  Tottenham were pushing up and Katie followed up on an attack to tuck the ball away to make it 2-0.  Laura was getting involved in the mix and Bobbi then smashed the ball towards the goal and as quick as a flash Sophie got on the end of it to smash it away via a volley to make it 3-0.  A moment later and Bobbi had a super strike which was half saved but Charlotte W pounced on the rebound to tuck it away and make it 4-0.

Charlotte M had swapped with Katie and was pushing forward, delivering a good ball to Laura whose shot was well saved.  Goal number five was a real screamer when Sophie laid the ball back to Megan and she smashed the ball passed the keeper from about 25 yards out.  Bobbi had a long range shot which went over the top.

A goal mouth scramble produced a corner, which was floated in by Sophie with Bobbi jumping to see her header go wide.  A moment later and Sam charged from the back and let fly with a super strike which the keeper parried away, but Sophie was on it in a blink of an eye and she scored her hat trick and Spurs sixth of the day.  A few minutes later and Sam went forward again, let fly with a shot which hit the post and this time Charlotte W got to it and tapped it away to make it 7-0. Still Luton tried to push forward but Katie was defending well with Vicki and Megan.  Charlotte M passed to Sophie and the keeper held a good shot.

Luton played a good game in the right spirit and to their credit, they never gave up.  Spurs were very much on the back foot in the first half, but came out in the second all guns blazing and player of the match was awarded to Sam, well deserved and well done to all.

Now how do you get a ton of mud off your shoes ?? ... No girls, not by kicking it at your parents !!!

home counties girl's football league  - u15 cup - group c
After weeks of waiting due to the weather the girl’s first League Cup game finally took place. Barnet unfortunately only had nine players to start with and then went down to eight during the match due to an injury, but played with such determination and guts they should all be warmly applauded.

Bobbi Cubberley had an early shot that was held by the keeper. Vicki Blake played a ball out of defence to Sarah Brennan whose shot went sailing over. Bobbi then crossed a ball into the box, Laura Newby headed it towards the goal and the keeper collected it. Sarah charged down the left and crossed the ball to Laura whose shot just went wide. A moment later and Shoshana Field came up from the left of defence to have a strike which the keeper held. Charlotte McLucas passed the ball onto Megan Oates, whose shot went wide. After eight minutes, Sarah lofted a long ball, which she admitted afterwards was actually a cross and it nestled into the far top corner to make it 1-0.Sophie Gardiner was now getting into the act with a shot that was saved. The Barnet goal was under constant fire with Sarah blasting a long range shot which bounced off the cross bar and away. Laura had another shot which went wide. Bobbi then followed that up a moment later with a shot that was saved. Saskia Collins was comfortable on the right of defence looking to find a through ball to Charlotte M. Vicki made a strong solid clearance and Sam Delves was also keeping a watchful at the back. Sophie broke through and struck the ball, with the keeper tipping it over the bar. Charlotte M had a shot with her left foot which hit the post and bounced away. A few minutes later and Sarah repeated her early trick and scored from a long range shot on the left to make it 2-0.  Katie Fray in the middle had a run through and her shot went wide. However Sophie then drilled a ball through to Katie just before half time and she tucked it away nicely to make it 3-0.

Spurs came out in the second half with a quicker pace and Sarah hit the side netting with a shot early on. Sarah then had a shot that was half saved it bounced away, Charlotte M chased after it and crossed it back in and Charlotte Wakefield finished it off to make it 4-0. Saskia ran up from defence and crossed the ball to Sophie whose shot was well held by the keeper. Bobbi delivered a lovely through ball to Charlotte W, who was just denied after some super defending. Katie had a good shot that was well saved. After much more Tottenham pressure Laura managed to put the ball away to make it 5-0.

A large cheer went up when Lily Tyrimos came out to collect a ball from a Barnet attack. Still Spurs moved forward with both Sophie and Laura having shots that were saved and then Sophie seeing her shot sail over the cross bar. Charlotte M got into the action again and with the crowd willing her on saw her shot saved. Megan then drilled a ball through to Sophie who coolly tucked the ball past the keeper to make it 6-0.The goals now came thick and fast with Charlotte W scoring number 7 after a pass from Charlotte M. Sophie had two shots both which were saved and then Charlotte W followed up the last rebound to score her hat-trick and Spurs eighth of the day. Shoshana passed through to Sarah who then passed it to Sophie and she made no mistake in making 9-0. Charlotte W had a shot which went over the top before Laura made it 10-0 a moment later following another attack. Barnet still continued to battle, clearing a certain goal off the line, but it was not long before the last goal of the game was scored as Bobbi run almost the length of the pitch beating a number of players and then coolly slip the ball past the keeper it make it 11-0.

Without the sheer determination and resilience of the Barnet team, including their stand in keeper, the result would have been more of a cricket score. The Tottenham players stuck to the task in hand and delivered the required win. Well done to both sets of players.

london youth fa cup - semi-final
The girls of the Spurs Ladies Under-15s haven’t played any football for about six weeks, due to the weather, etc. and therefore today was always going to be a tough day, which it proved to be.

Shoshana Field made a strong clearance early on at the left back position. A good one two between Bobbi Cubberley and Megan Oates saw Spurs start to get into the game early on. Vicki Blake was pressing at the back to keep the danger away. Saskia Collins was also making sure nothing got passed her on the right. Sam Delves was Vicki’s partner in the middle of defence today and was covering well.

Laura Newby pushed through a searching ball which was just cut out by the defence. Vicki was strong at the back and Shoshana was very busy on the left where most of the action was taking place. Lily Tyrimos made a good save after standing up when a player came through on a one on one position with Vicki breathing down her neck.

Megan saw the keeper off her line and struck the ball well from about 25 yards out, it sailed over the keeper’s head and into the back of the net to make it 1-0 after 14 minutes.  Bobbi was showing good skill with Sarah Brennan looking for space down the left. Sophie Gardiner was busy on the right looking for the ball. Vicki made a super volleyed clearance. Katie Fray was battling away in the middle of the park. Bobbi floated a free kick in which was cleared away. Sarah drilled a ball through to Megan which was also cleared away. Vicki continued to defend really well. Bobbi and Sarah linked up with a few good one two’s and were pressurising the opposition. Bobbi had another free kick this time the ball just skimmed off the cross bar and away. Sophie passed to Charlotte W and her shot was comfortably held.

Once again Vicki cleared the danger away and Sarah was tackling very well. Then all of a sudden Teviot attacked and crossed the ball over, it missed everyone, but to everyone’s surprise including the opposition a penalty was awarded. Whilst Lily managed to get a hand to it, it was 1-1 just before half time.

Teviot came out in the second half all guns blazing and scored from a corner within a minute of the kick off to make it 2-1.  Bobbi beat a few players but couldn’t get her shot away, but then Teviot broke down the left and the shot hit the side netting. Katie was looking for a way through in the middle. Charlotte McLucas had a shot but it was blocked away by a defender. Vicki continued to defend well, but Teviot were just too strong and they broke through again to make it 3-1.  Sam recovered well from a tackle to clear the ball away.  Lily made a super save as the ball was blasted at her and she palmed it away for a corner.

Spurs were awarded a penalty when Katie was taken down in the box. Bobbi stepped up to take it and tucked it away to make it 3-2, with about 10 minutes left on the clock. Sarah had a very long range shot which hit the top of the net. Vicki cleared the ball away with her head. Bobbi was looking to find a way forward. Katie and Sophie teamed up with Sophie’s shot held by the keeper.  Another super save by Lily as Spurs were pushing forward and got caught at the back. Finally the pressure took its toll as Teviot popped the fourth goal in to make it 4-2.  Still the girls had to keep their wits about them with Vicki heading off the line from a corner.

Teviot are a good side and it showed through how they played, whilst Spurs tried very hard, they didn’t have the normal sparkling end to their game and Tottenham came off second best on this occasion. Vicki played very well in the first half, but overall player of the match was awarded to Bobbi, who despite feeling unwell fought hard throughout the match.

Well done to Teviot and good luck in the final.
